Just reading and picturing it makes me appreciate the mysterious and somewhat alien perspective of a timeless being you painted.
Real good stuff anon, I'm writing it down for future reference
Maybe even work it into the character as a culture-agnostic natural pull towards elven behavior. I'm keeping him, his time will come.

This explains the artistic side of elves as the creative outlet for emotions
I like your take on elves inheriting they hyperemotional fey trait, makes for fun shenanigans
>High Elves/Sun Elves
Maybe not pride, so much as it's a social emotional mirror thing that the Wood/Wild Elves have?
Instead of environment, they mirror the people around them. If everyone thinks they're amazing, they feel it too!
That would be the reason for opulence and extravagance — to make others look up to them in awe
Instead of touching grass they would bask in approval and praise.
But, conversely, they would seek to silence the critics for the intense low it gives them.
>Dark Elves/Drow
If nothing else, it explains the love of edge, dark colors, and sharp or pointy objects.
They're all means to express the inner turmoil in addition to normal utility

Don't know about the precise age, but methinks it's a similar mortality curve to humans'
It's like that joke — the first hundred years are the most dangerous time in one's life.
Only it applies to elves even more, especially if they are biologically immortal.
For the first 100 years you know fuck-all and are prone to overconfidence and underestimation.
Past that you have some time to reflect and draw conclusions from your lifetime of experience.
Make finer generalizations that the crude ones younger elves and human adults would make.
Honestly, it sort of explains why elves consider anyone under a century a child. Physically they're fully mature, but mentally?
Takes a lifetime to really get a grasp on things and see the long-term trends in world and civilizations.
