can cats lie?
do they have theory of mind?
closest I can think of is stealth, but I don't know if that behavior is instintive or if it derives from an understanding of the point of view of the prey
maybe the thing they do when they fall or miss a jump and start licking themselves to pretend they didn't fuck up?

My cat often "tricks" me by pretending to run one direction and then sneaking around from the opposite direction to "catch" me. He's very aware that he can make other beings look toward one spot and use the situation to approach unseen from behind. He employs this tactic all the time when hunting actual prey outside.

They can deceive and feint, so they have a basic understanding that living things around them have intent.
Also, they can suck up, which is a pretty good indication. my old cat whenever I'd get mad because she'd steal food from plates or whatever, she'd run up to my foot and just make a cute face looking at me and it worked every fucking time.
Cats are smarter than what many people would make you believe, they just aren't smart at all compared to the usual top 10 big brain animals we use as benchmark because our perception of what is smart is skewed as fuck.
Also, I think there's a lot a variation. The whole "my cat is actually a dog" meme isn't so wrong, some cats really do give the impression of being significantly more 'there' than the majority.

>some cats really do give the impression of being significantly more 'there' than the majority

I think a lot of it has to do with upbringing and training. If you're a retard who just lets your cat roam around and gives it no mental stimulus and doesnt teach it anything then it will be a tard cat. If you teach your cat to sit, stay, shake and come to you on command then it will be smarter than most other cats. Most cats have this ability, but most cat owners are retards who think "you can't train cats" so their cats end up being retards, like their owners.

I used to have a cat that would imitate the meow of one of my other cats because he knew I would let her in the room when I was working but not him. He only ever used that tone behind a closed door and he stopped mimicking her after she passed away.

The OP left out the part about them guarding two doors. One will certainly kill you and one lets you go free. You can only ask one question.

The trick is to ask one of them which door the other guard would point to that lead to death. Not which door is the death door. By phrasing it this way, they'll both point to the death door.
Anonymous No.96560195
>>96560174
>that would lead to death
Wrong, they'll both point to the life door.
Ask the liar and he'll say the truthful one will point to the death door, which is the lie. Ask the truthful one and he'll say the liar will say the the liar points to the life door, which is also a lie. Ask the liar which door leads to life and he'll point to the death door, as will the truthful one. But ask the truthful one the way to salvation and he'll point to himself. So really you need to ask either guard which door doesn't open inward and he'll point directly behind him. This is the trick: if you walk inward, you can't ascend. But the door opens inward, not outward.
I hope you learned something for a change.

If you take a bee, carry her out into the middle of a lake, and show her a whole bunch of tasty food in the middle of the lake, then let her free, she will fly back to the hive, do a little jig that says "lots of good food, middle of the lake," and all the other bees will ignore her because come on, there's no food in the middle of the lake.

So probably cats, being much smarter than bees [citation needed] have enough brainpower to understand deception.
