There is a dedicated facebook page for Australia, I know Sydney gets some minor action in terms of games and meet ups but no serious tournaments. Melbourne seems to be the hot spot for Australia Premodern, no idea if you'd travel for that but worth knowing I guess. The discord groups might also be fruitful for finding games. Anywhere you can find a Legacy scene you can usually find a Premodern scene too.
If you're really trying to game you could always do webcam or MTGO leagues, although I admit these are way less fun than in person

There is a small premodern scene in Auckland but we play somewhat infrequently as most of the playerbase, which has large overlap with legacy, is married or has other commitments. We had a 10 player tournament for decent prizes a few weeks ago, and I'd like to see if we can get more frequent game days running. Of course that's all in New Zealand so it would just be if you're visiting, and Auckland is probably the worst part of the country to visit. I hate playing on webcam but sometimes stomach it just to test a deck or something, I think most online premodern players play on MTGO via externally organized leagues.

The custom proxies I ordered arrived at my warehouse. I won't have them in hand for a couple of weeks but I'm happy with how they look based on this photo, although looking at the files again I'd probably want to redo some of the art and flavor text. They're 0.6rmb per card with just plain white backs, or the manufacturer can print the backs for an extra 0.4 each, or do single sided foil for 3rmb.

UG evolve was feeling much harder to make work than usual for the past year or so but I finally got it working again. I played against rakdos midrange, phoenix, mono black midrange, UW lotus field and BG sac today and won against rakdos, phoenix, mono black and UW which felt pretty great.

Quantum riddler was the card I needed because it finally lets the deck run all the 1 drops it wants to without running out of gas all the time. For only 2 mana it draws 2 cards + a future riddler and pumps the evolve creatures.

Generally, I found that the card draw from riddler was often just enough to get in the last few creature hits to close out the game. I got to cast it after my turn 2 11 power halo hopper nut draw and attack for 14 on turn 3 against mono black.

SPM comes out in less than a week and my LGS has 16+ stock on all singles for the set for preorder. In contrast, the week before FIN you couldn't even pre-order anything because they already had no stock (even for most commons).

I couldn't be happier.

We play premodern at Hobbymaster on the last Friday evening of each month, and in between rounds of fortnightly Legacy while the 10 player tournament I mentioned was at Shuffle n Cut on the 31st of August. The guy who's most into it has a battlebox of decks he's happy to lend or you can just print one out, and mentioned that he's organising another SnC event for late November. I'll talk to him this weekend and see if there's interest in doing more frequent events. If you leave contact information I can send you a message to keep you in the loop with what's going on. Where do you usually play and which formats?

Yeah, so on the 26th usually starting at 6 or 630ish, but it's no issue if you arrive later. It's a pretty casual affair and we either just play 3 rounds swiss or games with no structure, and yeah proxies are fine. I'll try to remember to post again next week to confirm once I check with the others
