GW is so bad at documentation my list is 15 points over due to "bugs" in their patch notes. Imagifier was supposed to come down to 55 points, which would give me 20 back. Watch Master and Deathwatch Veterans each came down 10, which would give me 20 back but they forgot to (or intentionally didn't) include it in the allies portion. So now my narrative focused army thats gimped with a Blackstar is over points because of all the changes.

This month's theme is Kitbashing. Anything is fair game as long as it's kitbashed in some way but it's more fun if it's more elaborate of course. Doesn't matter when you built it as long as you paint it in september. Deadline is september 30th and I'll start the anchor posts the last 7 days of the month as usual.

I found a pirated Tau codex (7e) and loved it. In general, I wouldn't spend thousands of dollars on 40k if it wasn't for a few bucks I saved on books. I noticeably lose interest in 40k whenever they refuse to release digital books for that reason.

Just took the plunge and after really getting into Warhammer lore etc in the last year decided to buy a set, more for collecting than playing. Got the Ultimate Start Pack and paints from a local store, but they also mentioned using spray paint. I wish I asked why, but why would you use spray paint, wouldn't that be worse than just normally painting?

The spray is the first layer, to cover the whole mini in a kind of paint called 'primer'. Primer sticks to plastic better than normal paint, so it helps to keep your regular paints from peeling off. Also if you use a black primer, it acts as kind of a shadow for spots you can't reach with your brush. You can brush on primer, but spray is easier because you just want to coat the whole thing.

I like the models they got. Because so many units were grandfathered in from CSM, they're not quite as anemic as they might appear at a glance, but I think they're missing a lot of stuff I'd otherwise expect a new army to have.

I have a bunch of small frustrations that are less about EC specifically and more about the game 40k has turned into over the past 7-8 years. Being vehicle heavy does make them cheaper though if you want to use sacresants in any sort of capacity you better be ready to spend $300 IIRC.
They aren't much harder to paint than marines except for 4channers who want every sister to look like 2B. I will concede they do take some finesse to play though but not as much as trickery as Eldar or GSC, the 3+ save still does a bit of work unlike with Eldar where a random Rhino shooting can wipe out 300 points.

I think my biggest concern is an entire attack roll netting just a couple guaranteed 1 wounds could end very badly with little gain, and struggle to engage with normal infantry squads. Meanwhile that 3+ anti is going to give a lot more despite only rolling 3 per model, but now at 2 wounds per.
