I once dreamt that Warhammer Fantasy had a Tyranids-equivalent faction of Fish People.
They were the original inhabitants of the World from before the Old Ones and were now rising from the seas in endless hordes reclaim it.
Bit they weren't an overpowered, world ending threat, as their invasions always slowed down the more they reached inland.

The dwarfs need some fluff interacting with new factions. It’s always humans, elves, greenskins, and skaven with these guys, how about they help the border princes against Settra or send an expedition to recover something from Cathay, or go fight Kralmaw? Frankly they’re just boring to me, kinda trope-y.
Also slayer models but those are soft confirmed for a while now

Anonymous No.96577244
>>96576897
I think that's a fair play, I certainly wouldn't have held it against you' you have to work with the tools you're given, and as long as your army was painted I wouldn't care too much about the game itself.

Although sometimes I used to be a little shit, i knew my opponent would expect a huge anti-magic component and so he'd likely write a list with no wizards in an attempt of having me "waste" points on dispel runes and runesmiths.
But I would then gamble on it and show up with absolutely no magic protection and an extra bolt thrower or 4.

>>96576533
It makes sense from a mechanical and gameplay perspective.
All armies had, during the magic phase, a more or less effective sword, while dwarfs were given a shield and told to fuck off.

>>96576669
I really do think that at the time it could have been done differently, and to this day the lack of magic (and cavalry) really hurts dwarfs. Not being able to cast any hexes or augments is quite the handicap.

But I love my dwarfs specifically because of no magic; also I don't play TOW so maybe there's some form of magic (Anvil, maybe?) that I'm not aware of.

>>96577015
Good luck, have fun and take pictures!
We're starting an 8th edition campaign next week with the first game being a low point scenario of 2 armies having to build bridges and cross a river and 2 armies defending said passage.

For some reason I'm more excited for this game than I used to be back in the day.

you can still find avatars of war plastic slayers kit (called seekers i think). its pretty good. comes with mostly dual wielding, but also i think 5 great weapons per box of 20.

arms attach at the shoulders via flat joints, hands attack via flat joints, torso attaches to the waist via flat joint. heads are ball joints, mohawks are separate pieces. very customizable. also comes with full command, and is cheaper than most warhammer boxes by like half (last i checked it was about $40 for 20 figs)

Chaos x 4, Skaven, Greenskins, Vampire Counts, Tomb Kings, Dark Elves, Ogres, Beastmen, and more. Just having a single race of baddies is already more than enough to deal with. I can't think of any BL books that have them mentioned, though we have had Vampires that did live in the far east appear in some books, those were Von Carstein's pic as an example.

Fought a 1k Command and Control game.

Korgoth and his blood legion faced off against an Ogre horde, both having ransacked half of a great village only to meet at a tower.

The Mournfang annihilated their left flank and the marauders torn apart by the Ogre bruiser and iron breakers. Despite a flank charge against his Chosen Knights, Korgoth held and slew the Bruiser in a challenge.

After being flank charged, Korgoth and his lone champ won the combat after a challemge, one breaking, the other fleeing, running down the Ogre Bulls.

The Mournfang were out of position and Korgoth claimed the tower. VICTORY FOR THE BLOOD GOD!

nah, special characters exist for 2 reasons
>make models that deviate from the generic archetype of the armylist
>make models that set the boundaries for the faction's hierarchies
needless to say, oddball characters are both more interesting miniatures and more interesting rules, since they can help freshen an armylist by providing an alternative keystone to structure it, but upper level characters also have a healthy role in the ecosystem of a faction

What makes the dwarves in Fantasy cool and fun, while the dwarves in 40k are total ass? I mean, even the old school Squats had more rizz than the Leagues of Votann do now.

One has beards. Thats about it. I dont particularly care for most dwarves in the warhammer settings but you cant just have beardless dwarves, especially for men.
Also votann are just space marines, just like eldar. so it kinda gross.

the dwarfs in fantasy are allowed to be their own thing, while the dwarfs in 40k are forced to be space marines (short)

I'm interested in warhammer fantasy. Is fantasy subjected to GW greed much as 40k? Are Vampire Counts beginner friendly army?

>I'm interested in warhammer fantasy. Is fantasy subjected to GW greed much as 40k?
yes, less in some areas, more in others, but still yes
>Are Vampire Counts beginner friendly army?
not really, they're currently not as supported as the main core factions, so it's akin to playing an army with legend rules in 40k, but a lot of their range is still up and running via aos or has good alternative third party kits or models, so it's not hard to make an army

I don't see it as gimping, it'd just be cavalry focus. Savage Orcs are fun, they can just be baited easily.

Tried it myself, while not as good as yours it does look nice to have some variety for straps and bandages on the models.
