How bad is YOUR pile of shame?

I must have 2000+ unpainted miniatures. 50 miniatures from Heroquest here, 20 dudes for pennies at a swap meet or bring and buy there, toy spaceships from the store. It all adds up even if most of it was acquired very cheaply. I'm not one of those with piles of unsealed nuGW FOMO boxes.

In some ways, I must have like a hundred different manufacturers, it almost feels like having my own personal shop.

about fifteen 15mm armies for DBA, Tyranids and Ultramarines waiting for near full options armies (at color scheme testing phase), at the moment making Mordheim warbands; some ww2 20mm also lurks for chance, keeping them to use in Chain of Command and similar
so about half these towers from boxes in corner worth, but have smaller room

How many minis have you painted last month?

Wild. I'd buy your eldars if they're the cool old ones.

I currently have a wraithlord, 5 blades and a war walker partially constructed. I had to stop because i threw out my hobby desk, but hopefully ill have one again soon

You tell me

https://pileofpotential.com/Luigino?project=83630141

I have other non-dwarf miniatures I got for free OT found at garage sales/thrift stores etc. But I don't count those as I have no interest in them and they're only things I trade for more dwarfs.

The list itself isn't 100% accurate but it's a pretty close approximation; I'd add maybe 20-30 minis to the painted section and 50-60 to the unpainted one

I've been amassing 1/72 stuff since the Ukraine war started. But generally I paint 200-600 minis per year and try not to fomo into the latest new thing.

My pile is relatively small. Not considering stuff I intend to just sell off, I'm looking at:
>2 mercenaries for a mordheim warband
>2 hired swords
>10 beastmen
>minotaur
>terrorgheist
>lord of afflictions
>lord of plagues
>6 gunslingers for a wild west game
>about a dozen pieces of scatter terrain
>about a dozen pieces of modest size terrain (1 story ruins, a farmhouse, that sort of thing)

I don't have a pile of shame because I'm a historical gamer, not a GW pig. I don't just consoom products, I only buy minis I plan on using for a project and then I immediately start working on them when they arrive. There is actually a lot of time I spend WAITING for some minis to arrive in the mail because I finished everything and have nothing left to paint, and I use this time to build/paint terrain

It's a lumpy resin Reaver I've shared here too, but made by one of the dudes in the old excelsior/ultimate warzone forums back in the day. All I've done so far to it is add abbadons trophy rack. Sad that whole forum went up in smoke just a few months ago. Double sad that Meta is replacing all the old forum websites.

I have far too many unbuilt kits but it's mostly not wargaming stuff. For the /tg/ stuff I have sitting around it's mostly stuff I bought because it was going OOP. I have a bunch of Warmachine stuff I grabbed when that died. I also grabbed a bunch of Infinity stuff that was getting replaced with newer minis. Both of those fit into one container so I don't think it's that much. For GW stuff I have about 5 boxes of the old plastic cadians I grabbed before they went OOP and also some Blood Angels kits I grabbed before they were replaced by the ugly primaris ones.

there is a table at my local game store's event nights where a dead man's leftover miniatures are sold for a dollar apiece (for loose ones). Some boxed sets as well.
As best I can tell he bought a couple thousand miniatures and then kicked the bucket. I hope the same doesn't happen to me.
Apparently the proceeds are going to his widow, who is also sick, and was struggling to even start cleaning out or managing his hoarder pile in the basement. This is the fate of any huge collection.

Grim. Someone mentioned getting some minis like that on Facebook and i opened my mouth like an idiot when it turned out it was the OP's dad who passed. But in all fairness, battletech has been around since the 80s and plenty of the OG players aren't around to play with catalyst's chunky minis anymore.

Not that bad
>1 unpainted orc blood bowl squad (the plastic from the basic box of the 90')
>1 just alsmost finished human blood bowl squad
>1 kroot from the blackstone box
I have some unpainted marine and plague marine but I use them mostly for "coloring trainging" so i don't count them as pile of shame, I use them for friends who ask me to teach them how to paint, for trying new color patterns (I tried some ork skins on marines or chaos colors on loyalist marines).
So it's like 25 miniatures behind, I stopped painting 2 months ago when I got the starter box of blood bowl(I already had a squad but not the base box and I wanted the GROG box), I started painting my humans, tried the colors for ork skin but then stopped because restarted my job and doing some stuff at home, in this period is hard to retake painting, but I usually go back it's just I need to reschedule my time now that I work.
Anonymous No.96713534 [Report]
Multiple boxes but I wouldnt really call it a classic pile of shame. It's more so the case of buying a box to have conversion bits and leaving rest on the sprue because i find it easier than cataloging my bitz. Also some half full boxes of necromunda gangers on a sprue, since I am a Wysiwyg guy so i like to have some bodies if I the campaign calls for it.
Does that clasify as a pile of shame?
Anonymous No.96713678 [Report]
I ahev about £1500 worth of Necromunda because I started buying up lots of terrain to build my dream table after I got a new job that pays double my old one, but then we sold our house so have been stuck in moving limbo for the last year and a half so everythings been locked in the garage.

When COVID hit a local group died. As in, all three boomers who were playing together for 30+ years got it and passed a few weeks from each other. The local club did a tally and posted several hundred boxes of SPI games, some in good shape, some not, with tens of thousands of figures. The money was passed on to the only widow, the other two being bachelors or widowers. That's how I got my 15mm Napoleonic army, 1200 french and prussian troops, all painted, for 50 euros. I also took a good few squad leader boxes for very little. I like to think that they would have wanted people to play with their stuff more than for the widow to make a buck on it.

I got stuff at my mother's house still, probably.
But a lot of my old stuff has just been lost over the years.

I been kitbashing a lot of late for indie wargames, and my childhood partially assembled mass of warhammer debris, which my parents spent far too much money on, has proven a fertile and well cultivated slushpile.

I have more or less what I need. I'm doing a couple of pretty modest 19th century and dark ages matchups and have a few pulp figures and a fairly large collection of pretty random plastic kits of the more generic sci fi and fantasy figures out there plus a bunch of blister packs. Probably about 24 squad sized boxes and about 4 starter set sized ones. Enough to fill but not flow over two small bookshelves. Enough to play big skirmish games in those settings. Scant but decent terrain.

Anything else I get will probably be more considered. I don't own any GW stuff outside of Contrast Paint and Shades but I think those are pretty good.

Don't really like new GW stuff but always thought about picking up the cheap board games so I could have some Muhreens.

I'd say I'm under 2,000 figures in my backlog and I painted about 48-52 this year lol.

Unpainted, unbased... too many, in various states. Death Guard could use wash. Maggotkin doesn't have basing. Sisters of Battle need to have the details touched on. Sylvaneth need magnets on the bases for easier trasport.

Jesus.

I bought 1.5k points of World Eaters for $350 including Angron. The prior owner already primed and painting around 5 berserkers. One fully the other four maybe 2/3 and 1/3.

In addition, I have 3 kill team armies. Mandrakes, Plague Marines, and Angels of Death. As well as minis that came with the Final Girl Starter set.

I have some bolt action models too, but I painted the ones I am planning on playing with. Also, the epic scale battle of Gettysburg other half of box. So more than I thought desu.
