Drawthread: Dwarf Vult Edition
>Everyone
• PLEASE BUMP THE THREAD IF IT REACHES PAGE 10!

>Requesters:
• Provide good, detailed references (pictures are better than verbal descriptions), so the artists know what you're looking for.
• If you have a WIP quote the Anchor Post, and attach the WIP so your Drawfag can find you.
• Do not reply to other deliveries with a request that the artist fill your request next. This is called 'piggybacking'.
• Do not make multiple requests in the same thread and do not serially request multiple characters after a delivery. Suggesting several concepts for artists to choose from counts as making multiple requests.
• If you're unsatisfied with your completed request, please wait at least one week before you re-request. If someone follows this rule, don't waste posts by complaining about it.
• No furries allowed.
• Stay on topic.

>Drawfags and Drawfags-to-be:
• Drop your tumblrs/websites/commission/etc information, but if you're dropping your commission info, please consider filling a request beforehand instead of just advertising.
• Please keep AI deliveries to the /slop/ threads. This is a thread for human-made art.

Drawfags open for commissions:

Requesting an imperial scientist cyborg girl that’s going to be a starter boss in a starwars campaign I’m running.

Basically, I’m not too happy with how my style depicts this dork (a little *too* androgynous) and want to see how she would look in someone else’s style.

Feel free to change up her design in anyway, outfit/body wise I’d want something like the uniform in pic related just some darker colors and maybe something like a lab coat. Futuristic fashy mad scientist vibes

Requesting a drawing of an upcoming npc/ antagonist for a pathfinder campaign i am running. Agatha is a dhampir who is leader of a small crime family known as the rat pack in a city similar to/based on New Capenna from mtg. She looks like a tanned half-elf with long white hair and vibrant orange/amber eyes wearing a black suit with a dark coloured shirt. I hope non-character art is also allowed, bros. Drew an underground fortress my character visited on his adventures (I play solo). Thought about drawing it from the side (e.g. my character standing on the bridge and looking at the fortress from one of the sides, with a massive black chasm below) but after some thumbnailing decided to go with this one. I know it's not great, I'm a /beg/, but I had fun! Hope someone likes it

Requesting a reference for this schismatic-psychohazard slat mantis.

He's a nigh all-pervading cosmic horror demon (sorta), that exists only to add needless chaos to ideal causal systems — chaos which only comes about via overcontemplation of the potentiality of said chaos. An unnatural concept introduced by man, which only serves to enslave man.

You wrestle not against flesh and blood, but this asshole and his kin. Kick his ass whenever possible by not dying on nor adding dirt to shallow hills. Otherwise, collectively suffer pointlessly until the end of mankind as a species.

For this year’s Inktober I’ll be experimenting with hatching in black and white, to perfect my “retro tabletop book” style.
I’m realising that:
1- it’s actually much harder than I expected. Harder than colouring
2- my level really dropped
Pic related is the best result I’ve got so far (yesterday)
But if anyone of you want something in black and white, feel free to let me know. Preferably monsters. I’ll try to have one drawing done per day.

Anonymous No.96718105 [Report] >>96718163
>>96717854
Would you care to explain the thought process that got you to the conclusion that orcs, goblins, vampires, and elves are somehow "furry?"

Now I am of the camp that there is a level of "furry" that is acceptable, because there are many established races that, when you look at them, you could conclude that that race was made for the furry community (Tabaxi, Harengon, Kenku, Tortle, Loxodon, to name a few). But then there is the fat sumo bear pos that plagues these forms, where it's just straight up FURRY, no ifs ands or buts about it.

So maybe the rule needs to be "No blatant furry requests" because, like I said, there are anthropomorphic races that do exist in many books, and I'm fine with them. But more often than not, we can spot the furry trying to get a picture of his character under the guise of "It's totally for a game, trust me bro."

>Pictured. My Vanara warlock, which was drawn here about a year ago. I don't consider him "furry" but I'm sure there are some who do. But compare him to Fat Sumo Bear, and you can probably tell which one is the "furry player" and which is the guy who just wanted to play a unique race.

Last time I had this thing done, but it was never finished. Idea is a demon riding a giant man, whose limbs were replaced by sharpened bone.

In my hell there is no material other than skin, hair and bone, so the armor and sword of the demon should be bone, while his cape is human skin/leather.

Out of curiosity is are there any artists in here interested in drawing and coloring the absolute most frilliest and holiest of sparkly princess magical girl Mary Sues? I don't have a reference put together this moment and there's definitely no rush I'm just wondering. To be fair though the idea is very loose in my head right now I mostly have a few build ideas and vibe ideas. And one of the biggest vibe ideas comes from this store I only vaguely remember from a mall about 20 years or so ago that was EXTREMELY VIBRANT PINK EVERYWHERE, no idea what it was called though and picrel is the closest I can find (from "A Pink Princess"). Build is basically porting this old prime Mary Sue idea someone posted in a build thread so many years ago mixing a metric fuckton of shit together to create (and I quote) a "magical, psychic, angelic, fae creature from the Plane of Radiance almost literally composed of sunshine, rainbows, stars, and sparkles" and that's JUST the racial stuff and templates. Class features wise I'm going to be rigging up some way to get constant (or near constant) Sanctuary on her to make it hard for her to be attacked and I'm going to build her with as many auras of whatever the fuck I can find making her an absolute beacon of anti-bad-guy without her ever having to actually attack someone. This will be for a 1 on 1 game I'm planning with a buddy to test out weird shit overall that I'm running and she'll be partnered with some sort of dual shield wielding reach ubertank. I plan for her to also have some mode of transport (one class I know gets a literal palanquin to ride for example) so she won't even have to walk. Basically a friggen Magical Girl Saint or some shit. Got some errands to run but I'll be back in a few hours and if anyone wants to fuck around with this dumbass idea let me know I'll slap together something of a reference with a few things I like.

I can't help with the art side but it sounds like you'll be using some edition of DnD so I recommend the Apostle of Peace and related feats/vows from the 3.5 Book of Exalted Deeds. Even before taking the PrC you'll have innate bonuses that replace needing any items and a 20 foot aura of Everyone Chill. I'm sure there's some way to swing a unicorn mount floating around.

I'm using PF1e but I'm very familiar with the Book of Exalted Deeds lol, I've made a few interesting builds with it. Like an Inquisitor who specialized in hunting down hidden heretics... thanks to Touch of Golden Ice lmao. As for unicorn mount, iirc there was something like a Healer or something that got a unicorn companion...? I remember in one campaign I was in someone gestalted that with Paladin and the GM told him to fuse the paladin's mount and the unicorn and he basically got a holy eldritch WALL that he could just pokeball.

Unicorn mount prc is the Beloved of Valarian. Can be a healer but mainly they're a protector of nature type, eventually gaining Holy Smite and Mass Balefull Polymorph. If you're doing PF1e and Leadership is allowed, you can get a unicorn as an 8th level cohort without needing a whole prc.

Anonymous No.96741137 [Report] >>96742119

Healer does get the celestial unicorn earlier, Beloved potentially gets their unicorn earlier or the same but needs to get halfway through the prc to make it celestial. The Healer however is broadly considered a terrible class as it runs right into the reason clerics got spontaneous cure spells; no one wants to be a healbot with literally nothing else to do. It's in the Miniatures Handbook, which does have a few other options worth looking at.

Yeah, for this particular Mary Sue monstrosity I'm looking around at a LOT of different things though. Not too particularly in need of a unicorn specifically, I'd also be just as fine with a floating disc or something lol, but it is something worth considering.

Alright I want to upgrade from paper to tablet so I can git gud at drawing and easily redo my mistakes.

What should I get? I have been looking at Wacom One 13 as it is easily available, but I don't know if I should just pick a cheaper one without a screen or just a regular Samsung tablet or something like that.

What do you guys recommend?

I used a Gaomon P2200 at work for a bit, it's decent enough. I wish they'd put shortcuts on it and installing the drivers is annoying but it's a 22 inch screen for something like 400$ and black friday is next month so it'll likzly drop to 300. At home I just have a 100$ XP-Pen, the deco 01 I think, it's fairly large and there's a ton of buttons and a wheel on it.

If you buy a Samsung tablet don't forget to check how many levels of pressure it has, the fancy galaxy pro ones have thousands but most tablets have 4 or 16, it can be annoying to draw on them.

Hi, I'm going to be playing my first game of D&D, and a friend told me I could get some art for my character here. So I hope I'm doing this right.

My character is a Half-Orc rogue called Grimgar the Prowling Fury.

His mother was an Orc shamaness, and his father was a human slave. He has his father's lean build but his mother's green-tinged skin and raw strength. His tribe shunned him as "diluted blood," too human to be a true warrior, but his mother still tried to train him in the shamanic arts of beast-speaking and herbal poisons. But Grimgar's true affinity lay in the shadows—stalking prey like a ghost, striking from ambush with crude bone knives.

Not going to get into too much more about his backstory here, just that there was a coup by a rival Warchief, Grimgar's mother was killed, and Grimgar was blamed. Killing his pursuers, he was now branded a kin-slayer, but he seeks the skills necessary to get revenge for the murder of his mother.

Description: He is lean and green-skinned, with slight tusks (they may get longer as he ages, but they are underdeveloped compared to other full-blooded orcs his same age).
We wears mostly leather hides and furs, as well as handmade jewelry made up of trophies from his kills. As well as a crafted feline mask that covers his upper face, made by his mother to help him appear more intimidating and hide much of his human features.

Requesting my PC for an upcoming Changeling: the Lost game set in 1890s England.

Martha is a young governess who was taken by a fae Keeper for the crime of "being too good with children in a public park", as this keeper needed a Mother Goose to fit into his storybook realm. After some time there, she was able to escape and came back to the world changed.

Stuck as part maiden, part matron, Martha has the features of a young woman but with grey, nearly white hair and eyes that are tired a bit beyond her years. She is very polite, standing with perfect posture and a non-confrontational demeanor. This is her Mask, which means while unusual features are welcome (such as her hair), there isn't anything blatantly supernatural in her appearance.

Lastly, her style of dress is fairly normal for the period (see the attached image). Nice, but plain clothes fit for a member of the house staff.

But cityscapes are not something that people generally seem to advertise as a thing they do. It doesn't have to be super details so long as it conveys the essence of the city, I don't need meticuously crafted buildings I just need the general layout to be on point.

Asking here since its an art request related question that I dont think is worth its own thread.

As the other Anons said, the worst you'll be at drawing is how good you are right now. You may have days where it feels like you're making no progress and that's okay, no one starts their /fit/ journey by doing 200lb reps when they can't even lift the weights onto the barbell. Start with basic shapes, disproportionate cartoons, or tracing artwork if you have to; if it's a good enough starting point for the filipino/latino artists that charge sweet $15-40 commissions, then there's a good chance you can learn something from the effort.
Pic related, sketched my thief using some old computer game box art as reference. There are no fewer than three details in the face alone that I feel fall short of my imagining of the character, but I got it done with perseverance and a drive to complete something.

Could have been this for sure but society has always treated artists like dogshit. Ai slop wouldn’t even be as issue on regular social media sites it art groups that banned it weren’t also ran by powertripping psychopath mods and full of pearl clutching non-artists who exist entirely to start comment wars and bitch about any horny art that’s even slightly outside their magical realm. It’s really quite sad. AI slop should have been cause to liberate artists to be unapologetically themselves but the absolute dogshit state of society isn’t prepared for that and sloppers capitalize on that to grind authenticity out of society.

>sucking at something is the first step at being kinda sorta good at something.

Get a paper pad and a pencil and just fucking fill the page with doodles. Then tomorrow do the same. Then the next day and so on and so forth.
Use references, trace things, try to copy what other people make and then try to mix things together.
If your hands are jittery like mine, use a program that has a stabilizer, like Krita.

Most importantly: manage your expectation of progress. Learning to draw is a process that can take upwards of years before you start making things that look pretty good. Pic Related

That seems like a really weird view. To make 'art' requires talent, but to draw what you see can very well be learned in a rote manner. A talentless guy who practices for 10 years is going to be a better depicter of visuals than a very talented person who has only been drawing with serious effort for a week. And ultimately that's what we're talking about here, we're not talking about being creative or being artful, we're talking about learning how to depict forms in a way better than a stick figure.

I never understood the hate boner against tracing, honestly.
Without even bringing up the fact that a lot Renaissance artists used an optical device that allowed them to do just that. Seems to me that, in art just like in war, everything goes. Some artists straight up paint over a photograph while leaving parts of it still visible and, sure, why not? It’s just a different style.
Tracing can be a good assisting tool in the beginning. Just… it can’t do *everything*. And be aware that, like every assisting tool, if you rely too much on it, it can make it harder for you to get over it when you need it.

Thank you, in my newer drawings with the wizard and monster I decided to use a ruler for the shadow lines which gave a much more crisp look.

I then fucked up the lines on the wizard and tried to fix it by just darkening some areas.

Pic related is another one of my favorites; much more cartoony style where I'm experimenting with partial coloring.

Anyone want to take a stab at this Cleric?
I'm thinking of something like a quiet moment at rest where he's tending to his gear.
Equipment maintenance is a somewhat religious experience for him, and so he tends to find a serene calmness to the act. He's an adherent of Helm, and having his arms and armor in tip-top shape is a big priority for him.
His current project is trying to restore an enchanted, perpetually rusty saber the party found in a ruin. Even when frustrated by the lack of progress he ought to still have a calm smile on his face as he diligently sets about his work.
Aside from the suggested scene and posing, a basic "armed and at the ready" pose could work just as well. Same demeanor, but with a slightly hardened expression.

My guess for why you got autistic with it is that dresses are gorgeous but so are lady legs, especially with a range of motion. Got an elf with a very similar pear build that I've designed with a long dress skirt that is box-pleated. The idea being that while standing upright the folds will cover the leg slits, which as a nomad that needs the ability to hike up a ledge or sprint from danger are very necessary. Elegance meets practicality. Heckin' cute work too.

Start drawing.

Read fun with a pencil for some bare bones basics.
Apply lessons (draw some more)

Read the ic sticky and grab a fiew fundies you are lacking in.

Draw some more

Do gesture and figure drawing (detailed anatomy knowledge helps but not strictly neccesery)

Look at artists you like.

Try and copy what they do or have somebody else (yutub) analyse what they are doing.

Draw some more

Post works for critique anywhere where thats done.

Draw some more

Try some weird shit out. Draw some more

When stuck

Look at reality /or other works

Draw some more.

Do those in any order You like

It takes little time to get better then most

Takes a long time to get erry good
Still not there myself

If you plan to embark, i wish you good luck

Bro trust me, it doesn't take that long to 'get good' (e.g. get to the point at which some of your works look good to you and you're really happy with them). I've only been drawing for 3 months, went from not being able to draw a circle and knowing nothing about shapes, shading, perspective, etc, to being able to pull off things like this
>>96701695
>>96881138
I know this might not look impressive to most folks, but to me it's mind blowing. Back in July I couldn't even imagine I'd be able to draw a somewhat convincing scene, albeit with whacky proportions, perspective and shading (I'm still at the very beginning of my journey, and, as they say, it's a lifelong journey)
Age also doesn't matter at all, the only downside of starting later is that you might have less time to dedicate to drawing. I work a full time job, so I'm only able to draw during my lunch break and after work.
I'm 28 so I'm also 'starting out later in life', but it only takes most people around 2-5 years to get to proficient/intermediate (e.g. 'good') level. After that you're just refining your skills. It's literally just like any other skill, like riding a bike, playing football or any video game.

Remember - the best time to begin your drawing journey was when you were 6. The second best time is now. If you don't start drawing today, in a years' time you'll think to yourself 'fuck, why didn't I start drawing last year? Had I been drawing for a year, I'd probably be good by now.'
Hope I gave you some inspiration, anon. We will make it.

If we do simple maths, it's anywhere between 50 to 200 hours total (I'd say somewhere around 125). Everyone learns to draw at their own pace. Someone who's way more diligent than me could of achieved way more. And there are lots of folks who are much more slower paced than me and it's completely normal, everyone's journey is unique.
>What resources did you make use of?
YouTube and drawing books.
There's a beginner trap where you watch WAAAY too many tutorials and gather way too much books that you end up torn apart and not doing anything. Find two or three YT channels from guys you enjoy (For me it's 'Drawing Sessions', he's a creature concept artist and all of his videos are just him drawing from start to finish and explaining what he does and giving lots of advice in the process; 'The Drawing Codex' - also a concept artist, he's more of a podcast-y type of guy, he likes to talk about the learning process, motivation, the art journey, etc. He also does drawing tutorials; and a couple of other smaller channels I watch for inspiration 'BillMakingStuff' - love his sketches and worldbuilding - and 'David Gray Holderman').
I also have a lot of Moebius' comic books, I love his Arzack series as well as Frank Frazetta's stuff.
Drawing books-wise I have 'Framed Perspective 1/2', 'Framed Ink 1/2', Kim Dong Ho's 'Space Drawing/Perspective', all of Loomis' books (they're free online) and S. Robertson/T. Bertling - how to draw (not recommended for complete beginners).

Sorry you're getting so much hate for this, I'm happy you liked my oc enough to draw him.

I should get back to finishing coloring someday.

It is alright. I knew what would happen. But I am more sorry that I let my.....furry side guide me on this. I am glad you still liked the two pieces.

You know goddamn well that’s not all he’s getting hate for. Royce has earned every single mean thing said to/about him.

New here so not familiar with the regulars. I was just looking for feedback and critique on my drawing/coloring. Felt somewhat responsible as he was responding to my post.

It's an incredible piece of art, my only criticism is that maybe it needs color, you know, it's just a human with a mask without the color green.

Requester here, holy shit, the pointy hood is a nice touch. Also the way the steed is twisted is a great idea as well. I'll need to add both to my descriptions when I describe the boss. Luckily they've only had a brief exposure to him, when his steed crawled out of a hell gate that were five people fused together

Thank you so much

Half your requests are grotesque lolishota bait, be honest about it and you'll have a better time here since lolishota is fine and all the hate was exclusively from Royce's fat, untalented ass.
