The issue with combat wheelchairs is that they highlighted how common people have no control over the hobby anymore. Some silly little third-party splat got seized by every major company and entertainment group within months of the release despite nobody in the fandom really caring. Everything about the hobby has been corporatized, sanitized and safely packaged into little sound bites to feed your conscience either Good Thought or Bad Thought.

Nobody fucking does bikini armor anymore, and on the rare occasions they do it’s an explicit callback or mockery of the aesthetic. It’s not on the same level as wheelchairs. I’ve seen the combat wheelchair in a multi-million dollar cartoon made by a critically-acclaimed acting group. The last time I saw bikini armor was goon threads on /tg/ posting art made in the 2000s. Don’t come at me with this comparison because it reeks of privilege, “oh I can safely mock bikini armor because my opinion on combat wheelchairs is assured. No matter how viciously people in this thread mocks combat wheelchairs, when I close the thread they’re still popular to companies and media moguls.” It’s pure privilege, you’re not the subversive culture anymore, you’ve become the establishment. You can make a disabled character so long as it requires less suspension of disbelief that they'll be active.

Take FMA where the MC has missing limbs, but uses prosthetics, so he is still able to move around, even if said prosthetic needs tons of maintenance.

Plenty of women want to have bigger tits. Everyone would prefer to be able to walk.
Therefore, in a world full of magic, it makes sense that you would see people using magic to get bigger tits and make magical armor that shows that off, just like how you'd see people using magic in order to heal injuries so they can walk again.
Furthermore, people in real life use wheelchairs. People in real life don't wear bikini armor. Bikini armor is already more fantastical by that alone.

In a gritty low-magic setting, neither makes sense. In a high-magic setting, wheelchairs still don't make sense, because the solution should be something more fantastical and less like real life.

To give another example of where the logic you used extends, why not try to apply this logic to zombies? Realistically, a decaying corpse isn't an effective soldier, because it going to fall apart simply from marching, let alone any actual battle.
The conclusion is that while being unrealistic can take away from something, it can also add to it if that thing is suitably fantastical.

To me it feels like the people complaining about this are fighting with shadows, since nor one nor the other have cause them any issues in real life.
The combat bikini was always a /v/ problem shit in the first place, since the actual issues was buying an armor that didn't look the same when the character wear it, in a tabletop game you just describe the armor and that's how it looks and if you don't like it you don't buy it, it's not really an issue.
And the wheelchair it's like crafting rules, for a very specific subset of people, not really for the public at large. And just like crafting, it doesn't bother me that they have them.

It's all about WHY it's in the game or story.
Bikini armor was never really about being armor, it was about being sexy and everyone got it. It was silly and everyone was in on the joke. (Side note, most of the "bikini armor" were just bikini because it was uncouth to show the lady parts in fiction from the 50s and 60s.)
The combat wheelchair is an intentional intrusion that came in with the DEI demands. There was a wheelchair-bound character in Alien 4. He was not the worst part of the movie, and also when there were serious obstacles, Ron Perlman's character just carried him on his back, chair and all, while climbing.

And in fantasy, you don't even need someone to carry you, because you can probably have telekinetic powers or some shit, or ride inside a special kind of construct. Ramps? Rough Caves? Cliffs of Insanity? Not an obstacle, unless they're accompanied by beholders that always keep their central eye trained on you.

Needless to say that would change the game's power level significantly, especcially if you had them at level 1. 1 - Tenser's Floating Disc is a precedent that should allow a theoretical 0th level spell that just pushes and lifts a chair (it doesn't even need to be wheeled). Failing that, the past two editions of D&D have it as a ritual use spell that doesn't actually take up slots.
