The thing with Warlord is that even before the Kickstarter it was a well known game. If I m not mistaken it went from 2001 to 2010 then from 2011 to 2012 (done by German fans). It had a kickstarter like campaign back in 2021 for a 20th anniversary set (that sold well and was delivered on time). And in 2024 the new company got the rights to produce the game.

Despite pic related being tied to one of set 1's best decks, the deck has neither the room nor the need for this card since it can match pace with decks with ramp and the best form of energy control in this game is just knocking out a holomem with energy on it.

Here are all the major problems with it IMO.
>Blocker is way too powerful and basically gives one player the ability to dictate how combat works and there are few tools to work around it. Only one player essentially gets to play the game.
>Blue has too much utility. Resting, bouncing, ping, card draw, repair.
>Blue and White have the best commands in the game to control the board and have a bigger impact than the red and green commands.
>Kira and Amuro give a huge advantage in combat when persistent damage is supposed to be a thing.
>High Maneuver is too exclusive.
>There is so much Ping that it makes anything with 1 HP worthless and makes go wide tokens horrible.
>Green Tutors are restrictive and can whiff, which makes them worse than card draw.
>Support should be able to be used during the action phase and not be exclusive to main.

The new set drops and they introduce:
>An entire new archetype built around 1 HP Units, so it is bad from the get go.
>More/Stronger Blocker cards
>Another whole new color with Ping
>A Blue combo that has healing, card draw, and breach built into two cards.

One good thing I can say about the new set is that Purple actually seems well balanced.

Really just out shinned in every way by other cards. Even if there is some kind of tech involving bouncing a card and then discarding it for a cost there are cards like Tiril Dawnrider, Karina of Silvermoon, Knife Throw, and Corki's Ransom which all actually can do things faster.

I don't care for that particular art on the right but in general I like modern DM art better. I always felt the old art was either washed out or had super dark shadows that made it kind of difficult to tell what was happening. Definitely was a unique style though.

That depends on the game. If the game is going through a period of overprinting and bad sales, then that stuff can happen.
Another thing that could explain this is when the booster boxes are packaged in larger cases of 4-10 booster boxes and the way the boosters are shuffled there's a guaranteed mega hit that can be opened from one case like that. One of those mega hits are often worth more on the market than the entire booster case. A lot of stores that do mass openings don't even bother to open the rest once the mega hit is opened and resell the scraps. People can still open mid tier hits from those, but with the mega hit gone it's better to just sell the packs for the same price that they were bought at.
You can ask the seller about this but it's better to be safe and never buy booster boxes unless they are in a larger unopened case. If you can't afford to buy a large case like that then buy one with the local players in your area together and distribute the boxes randomly to avoid saltiness. Most LGSs will help with that too. In fact, if they get bitchy about it, then that could be a good indicator that they're filtering the cases on the down low.

It's been more than a decade since I played any tcg in a competitive way and I had this local tournament, from weeklies I knew gundam is to the best of one till there's only one player without any loses. So I played and won 4-0, by the end of the round 4 I was the only one without a single loss, then they said we had to play amongst top8 and lost only once and ended 3rd...the thing is that the 1st (winner) had already lost against me, and the second had 2 loses, one against me too...is that normal? Or is a Gundam thing?

Sounds like your tournament was swiss into a top 8 cut. The first four games you won was to determine if you'd get into top 8, and if you do, the seeding in which you'd start at. You started at seed 1 for the top 8 because you were undefeated, and then lost in the semi-finals. The top 8 is single elim, so your tourny run is over there, assuming you didn't play for 3rd/4th place

neither of those are much like mtg if that's what you're looking for. FAB despite the art is a fighting game (it's really more ripping off shit like DBZ) and ashes, while thematically a wizard battle game, is mechanically more toward the Jyhad/L5R side of the family tree. they'll both feel pretty foreign to an mtg player, and ex-mtg players don't usually like them.

if you want something with mtg style, take a look at either Japan games in the Duelmasters / Force of Will family, Lorcana or Alpha Clash.

Sure, but picrel saw play to help stop Daisy, and for 1 more ink - still inkable - the garg is so much better. There's not much you'd want to be a sacrificial lamb that can do 4 damage in one go, and nothing that costs less than 3 afaik. It's also defense against the croc who gives reckless, because he can trade even instead of the target.

It's not a broken card by any means, but it's definitely pushed. Gargoyles in general are looking very good, we'll have to see how much of a handicap the readying ability actually is.

i've been playing this version of BP and it feels pretty good. not a big fan of the ping strategy and went with a midrange-y build with the unicorn package. i also slotted in intercept orders to get around heavy aggro/blocker lists and awakened power essentially acts as your saving throw to get a link unit on the board or to put down an extra vanilla.

Buzz Polka does more damage the more fans are on her stage so an ideal deck has 12 fans with Debut Kiara and Spot Pekora to hold more fans, use the former's fans' ability to create more draw power, and the latter's ability to find Buzzes. Polka's damage isn't capped like most buzzes when their conditions are met and Polka's fans have the ability to act as energy so she can hit fast, early, and very damn hard. Ollie is used as the Oshi for her SP skill since it's a draw 4, discard 2, and bloom 1, which Polka might one of the few members to completely render the discard part moot besides Ollie herself. TL;DR, It's a deck that hits the ground running and can keep key parts safe.

Typing this paragraph it now occurs to me how much of a Weird Al bit "Turbo Polka" sounds in a vacuum.

Dippin' out of the gundam tcg. Prices are insane for such a basic game, and blockerslop just became even stronger. I figured out a deck that pretty much puts blockers every turn and is always drawing cards. 10-0 on MSA with it. Just not fun enough to justify the investment.

I think I've figured it out. 5 colors + colorless/generic, any card as resource like Duel Masters + dedicated resource cards, Unsuspend/Draw/M1/Combat/M2/End, instant/quick effects, Buddyfight life. Combat works like Duel Masters/Bandaislop, but with a dedicated phase. Uses Yugioh's SEGOC and Chains.

The point isn't to make an original game, but to make something simple so people (me) can make cards based on their (my) favorite cards and aspects of other games.

Set 5 was a renaissance for Aki and Kobo that make their gameplan very real. Aki got an entire new line of cards including an Axe that that boosts the damage of her arts by +50, which offsets her set 1 1st's dismal damage, and another 1st that can recur her Stone Axe cards from the archive so now her tool-based gimmick is basically guaranteed to never peter out. Add her new 2nd which heals everyone on her side of the board and Aki can now heal a lot and draw a lot in the process. Aki is also considered Okayu's biggest threat right now, funnily enough.

And since I mentioned her when talking about who won big with new support, Kobo won big with set 5 because she now has more ways to damage the backrow but more importantly she now has a 2nd that does real damage that isn't absolutely kneecapped by a mix of being an absolute fuel guzzler and counterplay being simply not putting too many holomem on the bench.

I'm here because of the IP but you should give it a shot if you're a fan of how Pokemon plays. Building a minimum rarity deck sits at around 100 dollars, most of that being the Oshi card and support staples. The rest depends on what Holomems you're trying to grab. Okayu might be a bit more expensive to build in EN with the knowledge that she's going to be top tier but then again I got Kobo Oshi for 11.60 when we have had the knowledge that Oshi card would be needed for Reine Marine for half a year.
