I tried making them as equal as possible, while still being fun to read/pick. If they aren't it's because I'm not great at balancing or writing these, not because I'm making pet options. My favourite was the Mentor Ring and it was one of the least picked :(

Yeah Lost Legacy is so busted. Lot of the Grand Inheritances just feel kinda eh compared to the regular blessings giving smaller versions of their benefits, and some of those blessings also being completely unique effects you can't get anywhere else. The entire section just feels like a upgraded items section mostly instead of a pivotal choice that your build's archetype is hinged on.I mean not only does Lost Legacy give you all the materials you'd ever need setting you up for multiple lifetimes and being an amazing base, it also features a Hyperbolic Time Chamber that's useful to literally every cultivator because it gives you more time to cultivate. Not to mention how it's even better for Alchemists for farming, and it gives Two Blessings or Treasures on top of that as well.

I personally don't even think any other inheritance comes close to how broad and effective its benefits are. Even Heavenly Conqueror can be ignored if you just don't feel like you want a third method despite its power and how quickly you'll advance through the ranks in easy mode.

Yeah but a lot of them are kinda whatever even seeing it that way. Like that Mentor Ring for example is competing against Perfect Guardian, except Guardian can defend you and boosts your cultivation methods while Mentor is stuck in the ring and provides guidance and teaches you synergistic methods. They're overlapping a lot despite their majorly different styles of how they help. Primordial Essence also isn't all that impressive since there's no real measure on how strong it is other then presumably being stronger than Imperial Ancestry. I am taking light of the benefits but when there's something that provides a similar benefit, even if its super watered down, it devalues the other option since I can basically get a similar effect for cheaper even if I take a hit to potency.

The only ones that truly feel like Grand Inheritances are Dharma Weapon, Lost Legacy, Heavenly Conqueror, Oversoul, Void Body, All-Consuming Devourer Physique, and Unbound Casuality. All of them provide options that can't be easily recreated through other options or doesn't just seem like some niche souped up sidegrade.

I should state however, I love the update. I thought the original version was lacking and the amount of choices that exist now is very nice. Grand Inheritances are just the weakpoint in my eyes because there's so many other avenues of power to explore, but the tradeoff of having so many good items and blessings to slap together onto a build is well worth it.

They're like multiple things at once while some of the other choices are like zero things at once. Conqueror without the extra method would still be far stronger than some of the other options like karma. Lost legacy isn't as extreme as it was in the previous version, but about the same still goes for it as well.

Well, didn't mean to bitch. I'm just very long-winded which makes it seem like I'm more passionate about it then I actually intend to come across as. I did get everything I wanted this update, I'm happy just stacking on drawbacks because there's so many options I want to choose. More dangerous tribulations, bring it on. Fortune favours the bold. Plus the hotfix of adding more options to the list is neat, didn't really think we needed more blessings handed out but I'm not going to turn it out.

I do think the discrepency between how strong certain Grand Inheritances is a bit of an issue, and although I don't agree with the other statements from the dude I can definitely agree on that front. It's pretty easy to just aim myself to the few strong options there instead of deliberating on all the choices and balancing their pros vs the opportunity cost when I can see at a glance which are immediately going to be better.

Alright. Let's update the build of my tulpa bloodline clones and the little sect that consumes all parts of the body. Not the best formatted post ive made but oh well. It's mainly just updating the build.

Being able to essentially design my own bloodline combination is pretty good. Being able to have clones is pretty good. Together it might allow me to be multiple bodies that bear different bloodline combinations to perfection. Or at worst use bloodlines with devastating drawbacks by preparing a number of bodies and switching once one is too damaged. Meanwhile Tempestuous Rifts is not only powerful, it helps bring delicious monsters for me to feast on right to me.

Perfect Conduit, helps me strip away drawbacks that comes with taking the boons of others.
Iron Will, willpower is the key to basically all of cultivation, not to mention experimenting on bodies you inhabit.
Third Eye, information is power and this gives me plenty of it. Good for spotting delicious targets.
Warhound, The cultivation world is not a kind place. Fighting ability is always a boon.
Heaven Blessed, because luck will account for what planning can not.

Pocket Dimension, Perhaps study of this dimension can help improve the world within and bring it to life. That aside, it is fantastic for storing various parts and corpses yet to be consumed.
Hunting Rounds, and look, free corpses just coming at me.
Spliced Tree, This can grow rare parts for me to drain for my bloodlines. Slower, but constant and easier than hunting a certain bloodline to extinction.
Salubrious Tonic, And of course every cultivator needs a life saving relic
Market ticket, another way to obtain yummy corpses, and to make money selling corpses of my own.
Extradimensional Library, Good for learning aux skills which are always useful

All Consuming Devourer Physique, I already strip bloodlines, why not everything else as well?
Heavenly Conquerer Foundation, a good foundation means everything for the future.
Auxilliary Master, Good for making money and treasures. Hell, maybe I can cultivate a few of my clone bodies into the perfect pill cauldrons or living treasures.

Alva the Necromancer, Another person who's powers society is probably unfavorable towards. Another person who gains from taking everything from the powerful. We have a lot in common, really. Who knows maybe my clones can possess some of her undead, or perhaps disguise them by acting as a shell.
Alive the Mad, another whom society will likely shun. Still, the three of us perhaps work well together. Alice strips them of their power, I strip them of their heritage, and Alva strips them of their body. Hell, maybe I can just create multiple bodies for them to use in a pinch.

Place of Power, a perfect place for our little group to cultivate, and those seeking to kick us out will only fuel our growth further.

This update makes the cyoa feel watered down compared to before. I think it's mostly the combination of the expanded drawbacks list, which allows you to take much more permissive choices and gather more blessings, and the fact that some of the blessings and inheritances were basically split in two. I don't really like it. The new treasures, methods, and companions are all good additions though. I also like how there are more examples of the wider multiverse now. Before the cyoa's cosmology was this uninteresting gray blob, but now it has some color.

Friday 17th is here. As promised, here's my contribution for the OC challenge: Trashsword Compact, where (You) dig a sword out of a dumpster and wield it to kill demons. I had fun making this CYOA and doing it on a deadline was an interesting experience, although I'll admit this was a rush-job, the image quality is spotty and the only real criteria for balancing was my gut feeling on it. I hope you anons have fun with it. I've been excited to see the other challenge OCs since it was announced.

My goal is to be an interdimensional trader to gain wealth and power without taking too much risks. Akashic Records grants the ability to protect the mind, make myself smarter, create illusions and mentally dominate creatures. Tempestuous Rift Codex allows you to teleport using rifts, summon creatures and eventually I plan to use this method to more easily travel other realms to conduct trade.

Merchant's Guile, Communication Expert,Lowly Junior and Market Ticket will allow me the talent and connection to grow my wealth, eventually paying off even my debt to the grand bazaar. Lowly Junior ensures I don't provoke old monsters as long as I don't purposely go against them, giving me a degree of protection if I stay relatively low key and smart.

For my personal talent, I plan to rely on a combination of my peerless prodigy and perfect conduit blessings to progress in cultivation. My auxiliary talent grand Inheritance will help tremendously here when combined with perfect conduit, as pills do not degrade in efficiency no matter how much I use them. This means with enough resources I can keep popping pills to reach the peak of cultivation. I can also use such talents to make more money if needed.

Mentor Ring grants me a mentor that can teach me all I would need to survive the cultivation world, and with my communication expert blessing I hope to foster a good relationship with him. Void Body is a nice general counter to any esoteric powers I might face in the future.

Of my drawbacks, Indebted can be dealth with using my money making talents, frog in a well partially alleviated by mentor ring. Finger Licking Good can even be used as money making strategy if I can use it smartly, trading some of my blood or something for valuable resources. Deviated Form can be dealth with using my auxiliary master talents later on. Fated Nemesis and Courting Death is not too bad to deal with, if I need to escape I can easily create rifts to teleport myself away.

I honestly feel nowhere near as powerful enough to fight all these threats with the perks given. I will wait for the sword hobo to come, while talking with the sword, then when I get my lottery money I will use my resources to help him in any way I can. I will his help in linking up with the Black Mage. I can bankroll our efforts while possibly being taught magic by the Black Mage in exchange. Then when the Conjuction comes I will be ready and already a full fledged mage. For real though, I don't know how you're supposed to kill the stronger demons with just the options given. With the exception of DICK and Flash Step I feel totally underpowered.

I think it might be my innate biases and lack of investment in cultivation as a genre, but all the talk about hollowing yourself out, removing organs, and all that makes me uncomfortable. Wandering Temple allows me to visit nearby worlds, but Passing Through is the greatest benefit here. Three times I can call for help from these old monsters. With my silver tongue I should be able to lead them into giving me more than they should.


Of course, to obtain all this I had to take some drawbacks. Youthful is not much of a problem, I will become an adult soon enough. Finger Licking Good is a minor inconvenience at worst. Hero's Journey and Courting Death are arguably benefits, providing me with ample enemies to increase my power with. Fated Nemesis is the main problem here, though I am confident that I can win. Lucky Dice allow me to temporarily suppress Marie Su's luck while adding it to my own. More than that, she is somewhat cowardly. Overwhelming her should be possible, though difficult.
