Original Kamigawa was a total failure outside of 2 cards relevant in constructed. Epic is the worst keyword of all time. The Kamigawa flip cards were awful. Bushido was bad. It was a weak set over all. The draft environment was shit. It sold like ass.

It only developed a cult fan base from people that started mtg long after it came out and flopped because set: Japan

Neon Dynasty succeeded by catering to the newfags with set: Japan but also meaningfully advancing snd changing the setting for oldheads, having a decent draft environment and having many mechanically interesting and powerful cards for constructed and the slop format.

I train with my foiled deck every day, this superior weapon can cut clean through steel because it is curved over a thousand times, and is vastly superior to any other weapon on earth. I earned my sword Magic Judge two years ago, and I have been getting better every day.

I speak Nebraskan accent fluently, both American and the Oink dialect, and I write fluently as well. I know everything about Nebraska history and their farming code, which I follow 100%

When I get my Nebraska citizenship, I am moving to Aurora to attend a prestigious pig farm to learn more about their magnificent culture.

I own several Commander decks, which I bring to my locals. I want to get used to playing them before I move to Nebraska, so I can fit in easier. I bow to WotC and oink as often as I can, but rarely does anyone manage to respond.

I fucked my shit up slightly, Mirrodin was before Kamigawa. That being said, all four of those are still directly within the overall "scope" of Dominaria. The existence of the first three is entirely about their relationship to Dominaria, with Mirrodin being the result of a Dominaria planeswaker going off to make his own blackjack-and-hookers gig in much the same way as Yawgmoth. Kamigawa was the first time that they completely separated a plane from existing in context of Dominaria and explored a strong inspirational vision completely independently of it. Without the Kami, you can't have the gheists of Innistrad or the Nyxborn of Theros, because you're still unconsciously working in that box of how death and undeath work on Dominaria and its local area.

The only people who will be there to rebuild it are the reason it went to shit in the first place who don't have the sense to quit. And whoever is in charge of Magic when it is revived will make the product for those who killed the game, exactly as it was now or before it died. Anybody who has the game mind when rebuilding Magic has to fight through these people - do you really expect us to succeed when we can't fucking succeed now with the full attention of the half-alive players?

Magic only survives as a paper game because OTHER games make the LGS model possible. But that business model is fucked because board games are no longer in vogue, tabletop RPG is fucked because it takes so much effort, Warhammer is still fine, but card games have so much of their money moving through TCGPlayer rather than stores.

To piggyback off what you're saying, Mirrodin was still connected to Dominarian events in that Memnarch was the Mirari before Karn put him in time-out for ruining Otaria. Same with Kamigawa in a sense because it provided a backstory for the Umezawa line whose decendant would be responsible for Bolas getting killed off the first time.
Really, the first plane that was entirely separated from Dominaria's affairs was Ravnica, because Azor was the only related planeswalker and he had no particular connection to Dominaria.

And to return the piggyback, the other set with huge implications is of course Lorwyn, which would formalize the story structure of "5-10 members of the ensemble cast go to a new plane, meet the locals, and get up to trouble". That episodic structure would be the narrative backbone of the game all the way up to the 4-part pseudo-block climax of DMU/BRO/ONE/MOM.

Of course, then everything went to shit, but it's interesting to look back and see just how much of Magic's way of doing things formed right in that late '04-late '07 window.

I started dumping my more valuable cards at an LGS for shit returns last year, which I regret now because I set up a TCG shop to get rid of the stuff they wouldn’t take and the margins are way better even if it is more effort on my part. I’m slowly selling off every card I own, saying goodbye to the ones I have good memories of as I mail them off to new homes (probably in commander decks, but whatcha gonna do).

Once I made the decision a weight was lifted and now I can enjoy laughing at this game from the outside, and eventually forgetting about it entirely. I returneed to magic after 15 years because some of my friends play commander. I come from an era where you used you money to buy cards and play not to make money out of it.

That said what I am seeing today with Magic is what I have seen yesterday with GW. Corporation are greedy as fuck. What people have to understand is that even if Magic start to sell like shit WOTC would need at least 2 years to show you some change. Production and release schedule are a thing.

For now I am just enjoying play commander with my playgroup as I can totaly skip set without worries, but if you play 60 card standard you just better leave the boat now.

Trying to tweak my first cube. I just made 5 mono color decks and slapped them together. I had W go-wide fliers with a lifegain theme, U tempo, B control, R aggro with some burn, and G was just ludicrous amounts of ramp into huge creatures. The result was decent to play but the drafting felt really railroaded into specific deck archetypes. I also used almost not rares or mythics, so it's 99% peasant. But pretty each card for a color felt so focused that drafting amounted to "okay cool I've got 3 blue cards and 5 black cards now, guess I'm making UB control" and the like.

I need suggestions on making it less boring and more variable.

There's been a rise in the popularity of izzet prowess and, in my personal opinion at least, blue belcher has a tough matchup against that. Akira came out during a time period where anime didn't have huge cultural relevance in the west and high-budget adult animation was fairly rare. It and Ninja Scroll made burgers much more aware of the merits of Japanese animation and basically created a market for it. Blink and Energy are just normal midrange decks. Affinity is just straightforward beatdown. Amulet Titan is just doing the normal Amulet Titan things.
The only deck there that I would call problematic is Prowess because Prowess has the potential to consistently OTK the opponent turn 3
Compared to even a few months ago, this isn't a bad state. Multitude of strategies and not that many non-games. It's better than anything under MH2 which was YEARS of modern.

in my experience so far it's very similar to how mardu greasefang operates, you can get quickier kills but if your opponent has good graveyard interaction the deck is a lot more limited
if I had more free time I would be jamming leagues on MTGO until I got a 5-0 just so I can put it on people's radars, but I don't expect it to become a relevant part of the meta game, specially with the current version of greasefang being less vulnerable to hate
