Maybe you could play OSR games that are illustrated like that, or better yet, make your own? Asbestos is a public health hazard imposed on you involuntarily. Tabletop RPG art direction, on the other hand, is media content. Nobody is forcing you to look at it. You can literally opt out, ignore it, play something else, or make your own. What do you think I play my games on? Homebrewing my stuff doesn't mean I don't enjoy saying bad things about bad things. TTRPG art does suck nowadays, and because of that it's too woke, it would be nice if the art didn't suck, even if it meant not being woke, my use of any non-mainstream party's resources and/or homebrew doesn't preclude me from talking about how the woke art sucks.

But I cannot create players who want to play anything other than corporate-approved 5E out of thin air. Even mentioning 5e-adjacent things like SotDL or Symbaroum causes looks of lost sheep. And with my stable grognard group we are not playing anything released after 1990 anyway. But not as often as we would like it.

Proceeds to post videogame art. Which is how it always goes. The people here desperately trying to force a shitty culture war about how modern D&D is bad because of art never seem to post all that much actual old ttrpg art. Instead its pulp covers, Vallejo shit, and random bullshit from anything not an actual ttrpg product.

Additionally, most of the people who want this shit arent the playerbase for the game, and are a whiny shitass minority of losers who dont fucking matter to WotC, Paizo, or any of the other big ttrpg makers.

I hate 5e and its devs, and despite my every attempt to not engage with the game, some feckless loser here has to post a thread whining and complaining about any new random book, social media art piece, or anything that triggers their smoothbrained insecurities about the fucking game despite a professed hatred of it. None of them are going to change the way WotC handles D&D. None of them. The complaining here is literally useless. They lost that war over a decade ago. Better to drop it and move on to actually making their own games than impotently whining about how there's queers and trannies, and pink beholders in someone else's elf games.

The trick is that it isn't about the art or changing the devs mind, its virtue signalling that youre one of the in-group. Its shared hate that binds certain rightwing movements together. Its less about the content of the art (though there is some of that) than about being entitled losers who want all companies to focus on straight white rightwing manchildren and theyre throwing temper tantrums that the companies arent fulfilling their fantasy of being the most important while neglecting the people they hate.
