Em4 Dwarfs.
They have an oldschool look but you can get them by the bucket-load for cheap. And I don't mean cheap by GW price consideration.
Really nice minis to give to friends curious about the miniature painting hobby to try it out and/or practice on when starting out. Wish I knew about them before I started this hobby
I have a weird collection, there's some nice stuff in there but I'm a fiend for buying up cheap stuff second hand. So a lot of monopose old plastics and failed kickstarter board games and whatnot.

Can confirm, em4 are "Bucket of rubber dinosaurs" grade cheap.
Great stuff; they also have more detailed metal ranges.
I have long considered that when I eventually need a horde of dwarfs and orcs for something, they will be my go-to.
And once I expand my Stargrave suite, I'll be hitting them up also.

I love the Endrinmaster with Dirigible Suit. Someone looked at a dwarf and said "give it a balloon backpack, more guns than arms, a chainsword and some power armour"

heraldic knights by reaper
wish I had the original box set with the metals but I'd rather get what's in the store then deal with ordering stuff online
One of my favourite minis in all of existence is the simple, humble Lord of Plagues. He's just fucking perfect and exemplifies everything "Nurgle" in one wonderful little model.

Are those yours?
Lovely miniatures.
I've always been tempted in getting the catapult mold or perhaps the dwarf mold and then just go to town.
But I have so many unpainted minis I can't really justify it to myself

There's something charming about peaceful fantasy miniatures. I get that I am in the minority of wanting such miniatures for maybe a diorama like a fantasy bar, but it is always nice to see that some are being made.

I also like non combatant fantasy miniatures, not having to focus on armour, weapons, or battle poses really allows sculptors to shine.
Once I'm done painting at least 75% of my current collection, I promised myself I'd start a side project of doing a large baggage train for my dwarfs having all sort of civilian dwarfs.
Crocodile Games has some really fun and sharp crocodile men. They have other Egypt critters as well but I've only gotten their crocodiles. Some of the most fun I've had painting minis. Pic isn't mine, don't have photos of mine
Finaly a threat for my question. Why are there almost no minis for the sword and planet aka space fantasy subgenre? The only game on the market i can find is masters of the universe. The lack of an army sized wargame with space barbarians on pumas fighting evil wizard cyber hyenas pisses me off. I would also be fine with rank and file type game.

As far as sky dorfs go, I really like the Codewright. He carries a small library on his back, and his role in the fluff is to help his crew by exploiting loopholes in the strict legal code of their civilization. Hell, he even has a normal name that makes sense, especially by AoS standards. I'm wondering if I could steal his backpack for my space marine project, those books could fit really well with a chaplain.

When these guys came out tg was still foaming with rage about aos but I've always liked them, I was particularly sold when I noticed one of them had built guns into his helmet's mustache

Initially I also thought they're just a stupid gimmick faction, but recently I actually took a look at them and I thought "wait, these guys are pretty cool actually".

I don't mind them. I just wish they were smaller.
Like the old metal dwarf smaller. Just so it'd be easier to integrate some of them into my dwarf army.

Bombshell Minis has Red martian women, and a whole bunch of VSF has stuff like John Carter-style gravskiffs. Crooked Dice does Buck Rogers stuff and a bit of otehr sword-and-planet pulp. There are a couple minis in Reaper's Chronoscope line for general pulp serial SF and some passable Red Martians. I remember seeing proper Tharks somewhere else too, but not who had them and it's driving me a bit nuts.

Nicodemus is my favorite wizard sculpt of all time, I hope to own one someday.

Over the years I've softened up on AoS's more "out there" factions like the sky dwarfs. Not enough that I'm interested in getting them, but I've come to appreciate the sea elves and such.

Old Slambo is such an iconic figure, it completely personifies WHFB as a concept
New slambo is such a hideous figure both by comparison and when standing on it's own merits, it makes my teeth itch just to look at it. Terrible galvanized trashcan proportions, oversized feet and tiny hands. What were they thinking.
