They saw the 3rd edition box and revolved their lives around it.

They're the average 40k fanboy that GW has been cultivating for decades. They only care about their favorite Space Marine chapter to the exclusion of everyone and everything else, and react with disgust when you try to alter said Space Marine chapter in any way. GW thinks it can control this segment of the fanbase, but it can't and now the golem is running amok.

I like giving loyalist marines shit for being GWs special boy who starts screeching the second he finds out he only got 36 presents this year when last year he got 37. Its annoying as a nonmarine player how much more attention they get. But honestly, literally every faction in 40k is a reasonable pick for one reason or another.

You can bitch and moan about the minutia of things but I truly cant think of a single one that I couldn't name 2-3 reasons why someone would reasonably want to collect a particular model line.

That's all true, but also no they don't. They found a niche to exploit and immediately understood that they didn't have to engage in the associated hobby/IP in any meaningful way beyond "LOL MEEMZ XD", because the average 40k fan is a drooling retard that is provably incapable of not getting scammed.

All flashgitz needs to do is put out an unfunny animation once every few years, and then neckbeards will be buying up $150 lunchboxes in droves.
