A few seem pretty subjective.
>Character role or specialization with a pet.
>Impractical melee weapons getting force/chain/power versions, like this isn't 40k
Both of those seem kind of "I don't like this so it's bad" when there's definitely precedent for people wanting those kind of things. Playing a beastmaster is a fun character fantasy for people, and it showed up in the most recent Owlcat RT game too as a whole archetype. Or for things like a power cane-rapier or whatever, that fits perfectly for the kind of thing a rich, bored Trader might commission to buy or something that might be handed down as an heirloom.
Also isn't
>Doesn't include any content for xenos
>Astartes/Xenos/Chaos rules shoehorned into Imperium-themed game.
contradictory? Unless you only want your xenos to be punching bags and not allowed for players to use them/their equipment.

Not contradictory. It's fine to have xenos as enemy punching bags for the Imperium players while simultaneously restricting playable xenos for violating themes.

I believe the point of homebrew bingo is to poke fun at trends in homebrew, not to engage in riveting satire of the RPG genre.

I didn't criticize the inclusion of 'plasma shotgun' for the honor of my fair maiden 'stick that shoots plasma in a spread' but because tech-heresy cowboys and sniping people with baseballs of glowing blue light were funnier and no less uncommon add ins.

That is also why I didn't bitch about "Space Japan (not Tau)"; because the fact Tau are a blender of the PRC and US gunboat diplomacy/peacekeeping missions and only weeaboo really in names and giant robots is irrelevant to the fact you can't open a fan campaign or sector without hearing a "YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" and drums from some back page.

We can replace the free space with "Anon has beef with some space on bingo".

Hello, Shas. Gave GER a look through and I respect your decision to slightly nerf Custodes. But I wish to know what their stats should be, were they direct translations of their tabletop counterparts.
Shas'o R'myr !!fWE1loXDN99 No.96850393 [Report]
>>96849515
You mean their tuffness? I don't see it as a nerf, more like a way to keep their tuffness in range. A spess mareen starts with 30+2d10, so max 50, and can buy up to +20 for 70x2 = 14. A custodian gets 20+2d10+20 for 60x3=18.

If we consider most enemies (at the time these books were written, which was 4th-5th edition), T1 corresponds to TB1 and T2 to TB2, but after that it gets murky.

T3 = TB 3-5
T4 = TB 6-11
T5 = TB 12-17
T6 = TB 18 -25

So looking at this, a spess mareen sits in the range of T4, while exceptional ones can go to T5. A custodian is T5, and exceptional ones get to T6. So they DO match tabletop (HH/8e codex). If you had just applied "more stats" to a spess mareen template, things would spiral out of control.

Imperium Maledictum or Dark Heresy 2E?
Anonymous No.96854415 [Report]
>>96854285
2e. It is not perfect, but 1e's adventures are broadly compatible. If you really want cash instead of influence you can just use the 1e listings from a pdf and unless your GM spoils you with experience the occasional complaint about being able to minmax from the very start is incorrect - you just don't have the ability to buy the really powerful stuff, and a lot of it isn't present vs other gamelines or prior editions anyway. Without re-iterating the longer reviews for IM you can find in previous generals, not least among which is my own:

IM is a cheap and poorly edited reskin of another game. It's very 'swingy' with several different mechanics that can really fuck things up for you - or the enemy, I guess. Very little actual definite work - zones instead of true ranges, etc. It is very light on equipment, equipment upgrades and rules in general. Also it's psyker system is more vestigial than functional and, on a purely personal level, I find the mana bar system insulting. But that's just me.

The book says that for hordes to have 1 mini for every 10 magnitude. i.e. 30 mag is 3 minis in base to base contact, and they extend their "touch" range in a 4 inch/square (iirc) radius. Alternatively, a single model with a 10 inch/square radius.

My teams usually have more tools available so I feel more comfortable using multiple hordes of 50-60 at most. That also gives leeway for using horde traits that depend on magnitude. Anything above that becomes too cumbersome, unless it's an infinite horde which is more of an environmental problem. But I agree, Mag30 is a usually a good sweet spot for a non-important horde.

My scenario for Deathwatch RPG:

Potential Xenos activity has been reported on the Imperial agri-world of Vespasia (kind of near the Hadex Anomaly)
A small Tau fleet has been detected in the system, and a retaliation fleet has been sent to have them dealt with.
Your mission is to land on the agri-world and make sure all resources are secure, and to wipe any xenos threat from the planet.

>Players land on Vespasia
The local guard commander directs them to the mountains. Planetary radar detected an inbound ship last week, but signals are hard to track in the mountains. The scout group sent in to investigate never returned.

>Moorhead Mountains
The first encounter is a canyon, where they start getting shot at. There is a sniper somewhere in the cliffs, and the only way is forward. They have to navigate through cover and fight some dinky Tau drones. They'll get the chance to kill the sniper after reaching the end of the canyon and possibly interrogate.

>Arrive at the crash site
A massive Tau Manta has crashed into the side of a cliff, leaving some dead crew. There might be a living Tau or two to interrogate if they didn't already interrogate the sniper. They seem ill. Seems like most of the crew is missing, but there are some trails of strange slime/bile. Maybe fight some Stealth Suits.

End of session one.

>Something amiss
Some of the dead tau resurrect, acting like zombies. Seek out remaining Tau. Larger undead Tau encounter, maybe with some undead human guardsmen mixed in. Nurgle corruption. Puddles of bile can be seen every so often, leading them further into the mountains. Or maybe they can use their auspex to detect a Tau signal or something.

>Chaos Idol
Even deeper into the mountains, there is a a cave with a shrine and a strange alien device. There are some cultists present. In come The Purge. Battle, and destroy the chaotic alien device. Job well done.

What do we think? Feel free to use in your own groups.

I had no plans on going further than the light cruiser. Going higher would defeat the purpose. At battlecruiser scale and up, ships usually carry their own fighter wings and mitigate strike craft that way. Other ships will most assuredly have a fleet defense slot here and there, but one max - nothing would rival those two at their job. I think the two anti-strike craft ships are enough.

The anti-strike craft ships are basically 'complete.' Now is the time for new strike craft, and those that carry them.

How hard is it for the imperium to produce murder servitors? With a statblock like this I feel lime they should just start cramming drop pods full of them and launching them at whatever needs killing. (I’m aware that this is basically what boarding torpedoes are for, but I feel like you could do it outside of naval engagements as long as you aren’t sending them into your own territory)

Ancient death machine servitors, that I can jive with, but reserving them for only the most casualty-prone job in the void, where lost units end up in your enemy's ship, just sounds insane to me. I wouldn't give them stats in the first place, that just makes players want to have them do all the work for them (and then complain that the game is boring).

I fucking hate large parties and infinite NPC spam, so I am doing a 5 man party.

Me (Bladedancer)
Argenta (Bolter Solider - fav char)
Idira (Psyker + healer - 2nd fav)
Cassia (Officer)
Pasqal (Tank - Frontliner - I did reset him to a Vanguard / Warrior build as it suits him more than an operative lol)

So far, I am rocking. But am I missing any cool sidecharacter action by doing this? Abelard and Goth bitch are alright, but Heinrichs seems like a narc. Just got the crunchy hippy sniper chick but she sucks balls.

You guys got it. I'm experimenting with Corvettes. I can't exactly call them that because the Claymore-class Corvette exists as a Frigate, so Gunship it is. The concept is simple enough.

>Slower than fighters but faster than bombers
>Takes up more space in a hangar due to larger size
>Squadrons combine differently compared to fighters, bombers, and assault boats
>Durable, can take multiple hits before a squadron is destroyed
>Persistent, does not need to return to its carrier after performing actions except to voluntarily repair
>Able to damage enemy capital ships, small DoT chip damage of guns and lasers vs burst of bombs and torpedoes

I don't have rules for them yet. They're still being workshopped and figured out since some of these strike craft rules are byzantine at best, binary at worst. But I think they can be a good tactical addition to void combat as both ally and enemy.

Also Yrliet with a proper build will delete half of enemy encounters before they do anything, more if you put Cassia's orders on her. Also it's funny to have Cassia be incredibly racist when Yrliet points out that she's a mutant and just as purge worthy as a xeno.

As well as introducing Discordants, i.e. hayware psyker retardation.

Well, except the pathetic Pure Form cultists who get poor-quality meat implants or fate points for staying without limbs.

tl;dr Lathe-pattern is expensive, but there are always many more other combat servitors.

Oh shit, I think that's me. Some Samus posting went down when I shared the details, right? The secret was that we were starting at a higher Rank for that game, so I started with as many Fellowship advances as possible, plus a nearly max initial roll. I think I rolled 42, then +15 for 57, then minmaxed my origin path to get another +5+5+3 and wound up on 70. I forget if the DM had us use alternate rolling rules or not, though.

>Damn, I rolled everything for Callidia
I had no idea that there were random appearance details in DH until I saw the charts Callida used to roll get posted in here, so at the time we just took the stated height range of normal humans from one of the books (it was something like 1.2-2.1 meters) and we bullshitted a random roll. She rolled almost max and so her height was 202cm or about 6'7". I did her name the way I do all Ecclesiarchy names- I took a disease and corrupted it until it sounded like a name.

>Callidia has ST 26 and just went up from TGH 25 to 30, squishy nurse.
She dumped Strength and Weapon Skill, though later augmentations changed that. Besides Fellowship, she primarily had Willpower, Agility and Intelligence going for her. The funny thing is she was only smart because the GM decided we still had starting gear despite our in-game rank, so I had her as a Hospitaler who wouldn't need great starting gear.

...it's funny, thinking about it in retrospect, so many of her details were determined by happenstance or just explaining away her weird origin path. I've gotten the chance to play her again in my current game with a very yes-and GM and it's gone places.

you were fated to delete the first post to acquire these digits
the DLC was an impulse buy, I wanted to see the Somtaaw ships. Honestly, they're not too bad, but they're only playable in that fuck-awful roguelike infinite mission shit. I was punished for my stupidity in buying the game at all. I never even touched the campaign, I had no interest in what I already knew was the product of a corpo rat-infested writing room.

The ship limits are garbage, as per usual, but the fun thing is that the somtaaw resource harvester is actually a fairly punchy ship, with a repair beam, ship-knapping harvester drones, and a fucking laser. They cap you at 3, otherwise I'd have 15 of the fuckers and nothing else, you can put two on resources and one on repairs/"thrift" with a mild escort in the early game, they won't automatically defend themselves while harvesting but can be swapped to attack mode manually.

the acolyes...do not gattai. nothing more needs to be said.
The acolyte, the harvester and a short range electro-shock frigate are all you get.

fuck Gearbox. fuck Randy, and fuck that pink-haired nepo-baby-back-bitch who made herself "IP manager" and ruined the project.

My hottest take from HW3 is that it absolutely proves that all the people who whined and threw little bitchfits about HW2's story sucking are morons who ruined it for the rest of us. HW1 was already drenched in religious overtones and HW2 was just as logical of an extension of that as Cataclysm. HW3 is what you get if you take that same tone everyone's jerked themselves off over for years and take away all the grandeur, because it turns out the prophecy and sweeping mythos are actually fundamental to Homeworld, not something 2 invented. Strip it, and the characters rush in to fill the gap, which even without garbage corpo interference spells doom for your space opera.

Ran an Imperium Maledictum intro and combat test to see how the system handles itself. I encouraged the players to go at it deep and hard. They got overrun by cultists before long and cut down, the last one standing being the psyker who proceeded to push his powers twice on a row. Built up an absolutely massive warp charge and, after getting hit with the Fatigued condition from a crit and rolling with disadvantage to contain his power, proceeded to then roll the max result on Perils of the Warp.

I understand a little bit better now why Psykers need to be culled.

I'm no good at greentext, but I'll try my best.

Okay, so first of all, we made the jump to RT for this campaign, which changes some stuff about the character. She's now a Seneschal under the hood, because Missionary sucks. It's also important for other reasons because new origin path, but I'll try to limit myself to only one story. Since stats were rerolled, her Fellowship has actually increased a smidge to 72 and she's even smarter at 60 Int.

So the first thing you need to know about her is that she's inherently something of a maverick. She doesn't reject dogma, not remotely, but she's intent on making things her own- for instance, she's mostly dispensed with shouting and zealotry since joining the RT crew. The only reason she ever did it back at her convent was to avoid censure, and you'd be astounded by how easy it is to pass sleeping standing up for being deep in prayer. Battle litanies are no more faithful than a shopkeeper shouting slogans, she figures, and the bile she tasted when the street cleric fumble a basic rite is proof enough that it means nothing.

Now, it's that inherent need to test and improve on her faith, to integrate it more deeply than others that's led her to being very adept at connecting with other faiths. Huge Fellowship, after all, she's not just hot with big tits, she's frighteningly good at understanding other people, especially in a sector that's been isolated for several millennia and needs to reconnect with the mainstream faith of the Imperium. The campaign has also led to her interacting with techpriests a lot, and just like studying the text of a subcult, if you wanna respect them, you whip out their holy texts and show they mean something to you. Even if it's the Mechanicus.

And she really does mean it. She was Pronatus before she was attached to the Inquisition. Devotion and respect to relics must be in ALL their forms, even when it's mechanical in nature. Saints leave more than bloody cloaks...
Anonymous No.96879216 [Report]

This wound up going places by dint of impressing more than a few techpriests by her devotion to keeping relics pristine, her respect for technology and her relative deftness when it comes to talking to the admech. Almost like she's used to faking the lingo of organizations she's not a part of...

What's happening now is that her reputation is starting to snowball a bit by virtue of her being too good at her job. She's TOO charming, TOO deft and diplomatic- which has certainly enriched the dynasty, but...

The more zealous of our allies have already voiced slight disappointment with her for the level of consorting with the mechanicus she's up to. That sort of dick waving is going to get us into trouble if it starts affecting the bottom line.

But there's an even worse issue. She's honestly starting to see some value in Mechanicus teachings. She's already picked up more than a few augmentations to repair injuries and one notable gift.

If this gets any worse, and if a few overtures by the Mechanicus representatives pan out, she might become one of the greatest embarrassments to the Sororitas in millennia. I'm not sure it'd be as bad as a Miriael Sabathiel or anything, but I can't imagine it'd go over well for her to be the first Sororitas to actually receive formal training and be ordained as a techpriestess.

Any word on your colony book's completion status? I actually really like v4 for all that I'm just tooling around with it between runs rather than giving it a full playtest, it's a great lightweight book and seeing the bits where extra mechanics have obviously been sheared off makes me sad.

Will extraction of resources turn into PF at all or just a drain if you're not using them for crafting?

>Any word on your colony book's completion status?
The mechanics for colonies in their base state are basically done and haven't really changed. What you see in it is going to end up in Anarchy in the Galaxy basically unchanged. The only things that would be added are House of Korst'la colonies for Project TD and Votann colonies for Squatcraft, and I'm a touch busy with other stuff to consider those yet. There will also be "army lists" for each faction for mass combat, and that is going to be absolute suffering.

>seeing the bits where extra mechanics have obviously been sheared off makes me sad
>Will extraction of resources turn into PF at all or just a drain if you're not using them for crafting?
There should be no materials missing. Anything that refers to crafting, like resource extraction, is in Advanced Crafting, which will also go into Anarchy in the Galaxy basically unchanged, with the exception of a future quantity scalar so you can use resources for trading in and acquisitions (ex. Offering a stack of 300 ores for a bonus to acquisitions). What mechanics did you think were missing?

Outside of glaring errors, I wasn't planning on going back to Advanced Crafting or Colonies V4 for a while yet because I'm getting ramped up on the Drukhari Rework, and I keep getting new ship ideas.

The separation was what I was talking about, there were a handful of rough spots I assumed would end up getting newer rules or grafts. And as for resources, stuff like, for example, the black hole observatory could potentially be pissing out free quality 10 radioactive resources you've got no real use for - I couldn't spot any provision for selling them.

A man/maid servant servitor would probably be someone fitted with the highest quality gear they could winkle out of the mechanicus and deploy everything the person needs - cosmetics, yes, possibly music, squirt perfume in the air, cushions, etc. Likely one that deploys boxes for the very powerful, putting them over things that noble dislikes the appearance of before the noble has to be distressed by viewing such a thing. Think of them as middle ages nobles in terms of dress style. One might be a cherubim aerie, allowing the cherubim in its back to go before its master, scattering shortlived petals and perfume wherever they walk. Etc.

The machine spirit of the whole is damaged when the worn part is removed and will be complete if the new part is made properly and integration is done according to the proper rites
It is several machine spirits (per distinct part) and the union of such has to be finalized in battle

The biggest things my teams run into against Old Slann is bio-compatibility - Slann systems are designed to key into their rates and their biologically-altered races, such as aeldari and slannspawn. Baseline humans will be accepted, but do Space Marines count enough? Up to you to answer. My feeling is they do but you may differ. It may be hard if that lightbridge doesn't pop up or that hardlight console needs first-order Warrior-Servant access, or it calls in the Slannspawn, Spindle Drones, Guardian Drones, or worse, the Armigers.

If it's a science lab, there's likely a long-dead mummified Relic Priest within, and his psychic bullshit is probably top tier. Arcane Unforging (in TFiY) melts high-armor characters, and my players learned to fear it. One creepy thing about Old Slann facilities is how...pristine they look. Polished silver wraithsteel, shining blue, orange, and red conduits, and transparent hard glass everywhere, damaged on the outside from gauss and particle fire during the War in Heaven, and untouched inside where the Necrons could not access. Vast empty pits into planet depths with wraithsteel structures floating above, following 65 million year directives with no clear way to access. Systems that still work flawlessly after a quarter of a galactic rotation. The search for a facility Cartographer through maze-like passages that all look the same (until someone realizes that conduits ALWAYS pulse towards one). Ancient phase pulse generators that need to be swapped around to power webway portals deeper into the structure. The constant sights through the corner of oculars of lights in the distance, as the Spindle Drones and Armigers watch carefully, preparing...

This is not a forum with an attached profile, the only means other anons recognize you is the obsession. Okay, so you had an idea and everyone else rejected it because they found it retarded. That happens, so if you want to continue with that project so much you can just bring it somewhere else that's more receptive to it than here.

Or, you can just not mention it and focus on the other aspects of whatever you're working on, because if you just remove the thing that's recognizable you do not need to hear people calling you a faggot for pulling bad rules that you like out of a tranny game that you like. You can just walk away and it ends. You have no obligation to us or to yourself concerning this at all. You are only wasting your own time and energy obsessing over it.

If you want to continue seething over it, feel free to. It will result in the same thing, over and over, and anons will take glee in calling you a retard and a faggot. But you do not have to, and you can just stop caring about it and it will stop completely. It is genuinely that easy. All you have to do is recognize that you are on an anonymous imageboard about mongolian basketweaving and it will magically disappear.

A retelling of the Great Crusade/Horus Heresy, but some of the Primarchs are player characters, to see how taking specific people down a different path could change things. Their origins and natural talents would be the same, Fulgrim still arrives on Chemos, Russ is still raised by "wolves," Guiliman is still the only one with a mother, but after that is when the story diverges. So far no one has expressed interest in taking over the roles of Lorgar or Horus, so the Heresy itself is still on track. I know it sounds very fanfictiony, but it also sounds like it could be fun. The Islamic antichrist in his truest form is an absolutely jacked one eyed sorcerer with reddish skin. Dajjal - yes, he's in league with the jews. Sound familiar? For all that they're superficially egyptian, they've got a light brush of muslims and a much deeper core of zoroastrianism. The name translates to deceiver or liar, which is incorrect because we all know that our red friend never lies to anyone, and especially not himself.

Also, he's got a giant donkey! I like to think that's Ahriman in universe.

The core book adventure is fine. Not great, but fine. There's a web adventure that's also good, name escapes me. Read through the rules, try and think how you'd run the intro adventure as a player and common ways you'd run through them and rtry to write down contingencies. The rules are not intimidating, they just look that way - it's mostly d100+/- modifiers, roll under. Just ask your players to write down modifiers as they get them, and do it yourself.

Space combat is a pain in the arse but it'll work, be sure to have something physical there to map it out because conceptualising the space is hell. After a few sessions, look up math hammer rules for weapons.

The colony rules in stars of inequity are a disaster, and if you must generate a system use a generator to do it for you, it can unironically take hours. I usually just have a grab bag of cards ready if I need a random planet - pick a colour, then pick a card for a random noun. "Planet of the Red Trees" and then come up with some bullshit, like they're red because the iron in the bark rusts or whatever and now there's rust storms.

An NPC navigator is a good way to steer the players around if nobody actually plays one, because they tend to have some input on the ship's doings if the captain isn't stupidly wealthy and powerful.

>There is no hope here or hereafter in the cult of my people. In this world men struggle and suffer vainly, finding pleasure only in the bright madness of battle; dying, their souls enter a gray misty realm of clouds and icy winds, to wander cheerlessly throughout eternity.
>Let me live deep while I live; let me know the rich juices of red meat and stinging wine on my palate, the hot embrace of white arms, the mad exultation of battle when the blue blades flame in crimson, and I am content

Replace Crom with Khorne and the gray misty realm with a soul burning up in the fires of unreality and it would be a neat concept for a Xurant like Khornate barbarian culture.

I always assumed that Chaos theology near universally sees the afterlife as something to be feared, rather than idealized like in other religions. The grunts might be fanatically suicidal but those who are at least somewhat aware about the Warp know better. That's why daemonic ascension or just immortality in general is the highest aspiration, rather than being taken by their gods after death.

I don't know if they ever go into detail about it. Most of my specific knowledge of warhammer afterlives is from Fantasy where there is a specific afterlife and gods/entities that protect the dead. In 40k, outside of the Eldar who we specifically know about what happens after they die (being eaten by She who Thirsts) but they don't do a whole lot for the other races. It probably involves being killed/eaten/worse by daemons as soon as your soul pops into the warp, and then likely either eaten and snuffed our or used as a plaything by a sufficiently powerful greater daemon if you caught their attention in life.

It's doubtful that daemons are humane and strive to minimize suffering when consuming souls. Also, time works differently in the Warp, so the idea that being consumed is only a finite amount of suffering that eventually ends is probably not true. In fact, souls might be inexhaustible since the most well known example of a soul being annihilated permanently is Horus and that was treated as a big deal with the Emperor pulling out all the stops. Granted, that could just be a thing with Primarch souls specifically and not your average joe who ends up in the Warp after death.

Faith has real power in 40k. Metal retellings of the Imperium's triumphs being blasted on full volume by an army of zealous space marines could easily put fear into heretics and loosen any daemons' grip on reality. You could even use this flavor to fluff a tabletop Death Guard army as loyalists, just replace their diseases with music that increases in volume in rounds 2 and 3. Short version, they have listened to their farseers once: To abandon the empire before the fall. After that they decided that shit was for little girls and the word of a farseer has slightly less weight than redlining your jetbike - fucking awesome, but what if you can go faster instead? They spend their time getting their cocks out to wave at Ulthwe farseers, picking fights with Necrons who are bothering exodites (or bothering literally nobody because fuck the Necrons) and going F A S T. They're sort of like buddhist biker maniacs, actually. Ascendance through wisdom, speed and violence.

Most Chapters don't rule directly the world they have control over, they intentionally stay as distant as possible to not influence the local cultures with their presence.
Apart from that, they don't really need diplomacy since they are venerated as demigods by basically all human cultures within the Imperium. It would be more of a matter of the astartes adapting to the local cultures so they don't spook them too much and avoid needless violence, but Astartes are also supposed to be extremely intelligent so it would be easy for them to pick up the most important cultural cues quickly

Depends on the chapter but generally space marines know enough to interact with imperial governors and sidestep their political games. Some are eloquent and well schooled in retoric while others like Grimaldus are just about holding it together and not spilling their transhuman spaghetti.

Plus they can declare people traitoris and execute them.
Anonymous No.96913505 [Report]

They are probably not formally taught it like they are war, but politicking, and thus diplomacy, occurs within the chapter and without. Probably Captains and beyond will have to start learning whose toes they can step on and who they can't within the larger Imperium. Despite thoughts to the contrary, chapters do not have unlimited power. They rely on interconnected logistics chains, arouse inquisitorial ire, and squabble over ancient oaths; sometimes these diplomatic disputes boil over—see Badab.
