i often grouse to friends about how repetitive the games always are compared to paper, and with how determined reddit is to deny any problems with the client, it surely must be as rigged as possible.

Only matchmaking and opening hands.
Opening hands are best of 3 aiming for three lands, prioritizing multiple colors if there are ties. Yes, this is abusable to make absurdly low-land decks viable.
Matchmaking is based on an invisible rating of the individual cards you use, with more powerful or "meta" cards having a higher rating. The matchmaker will try to match you with decks that have a similar score, so (in theory) playing jank will match you with jank and playing streamlined meta decks will get you streamlined meta decks.

Jump In is pretty good for newbies, make sure to look up packs and see what they have. For draft, quick is 5k gold, draft against bots. Premier is 10k gold, draft against humans. Traditional is 10k gold, draft against humans, and also bo3 unranked. If you're new to drafting, you probably want to stick with quick draft since you'll most likely be shit and that'll let you get the most practice in.

they don't know the game well enough to judge which spells to allow and which spells to counter so they play 20 counterspells, use them inefficiently, and lose. you need spot removal, sweepers, card advantage (as cards in hand), and a win condition. further than that, you need to know the metagame and have functional knowledge of cards in your deck and your opponents deck and how they interact with one another over the course of a game and how to play efficiently (thats a big reason why you see a lot of UW players in the Draw bracket at locals and RCQ-level events) or you're gonna have a bad time.

I looked a bit at the control decks in modern and pioneer and pretty much all of them are playing star charts, so sure, blue has always been drawing cards, but they definitely also powercrept these

any ideas for an artifact sacrifice deck for historic or explorer? ran a marionette + anvil deck a few seasons ago to mythic but it's not cutting it right now and idk what the new cards are. i thought i could run the munitions enchantment but it only cares about non-token artifacts, my deck was just lil servos and blood tokens

Why are Arena streamers and content creators so utterly retarded? Even during their own streams Arena is crashing every 3 minutes. Yet, when people stop responding after one of the players performs an infinite combo and the token creation animation makes the opponent's PC explode, they start to drool and behave like fucking apes, chanting "salty rope" like fucking drones. Depends a lot on the deck. If you're jamming mythics and rares, it'll be rough. Plus it depends on how well you do in events, if you're good then you'll have an excess of common/uncommon wildcards for all the budget decks you want.

This cube is the most fun I've had on Arena in years. Why aren't all of these cards playable in Timeless? They can't pretend like they've been curating the format after letting MH3 tribal dominate the format for a year. Restrict the tutors and power and make the format fun and not just the world's shittiest version of modern.
