I was talking about optimal environments. If we assume perfect environment for cultivation for all methods, vermillion is going to be, let's say, 20-30% more efficient/faster. I'm using those numbers just for sake of example. The reason I'm saying it's actually going to be less efficient is because those ideal conditions are much more difficult to come by compared to any other method. You are bottlenecked by your method which works by stealing their power through murder (the word thievery is literally used).

Let's say the average person spends 8 hours a day cultivating and growing stronger. You are not guaranteed to find a consistent area with 8 hours worth of enemies equivalent to your level. So in essence you will be fighting for 7 hours a day against shitter enemies, and sometimes you might find a boss tier enemy that'll give you an OK bump, but that is entirely at random and you also risk fighting a totally unwinnable enemy who is so much stronger than you that he can one shot you and speed blitz you. Or, let's say you do hunting grounds, and you get 1 hour of grinding in there. OK, but you risk running into beings so strong that they make all of earth look like a joke, and they're attracted and drawn to you, so you have to use hunting grounds conservatively so you don't die from an unwinnable entity that wrecks everything on earth.

The practical result is that while in OPTIMAL conditions you would be more efficient, those optimal scenarios are not realistic. Your ideal scenario requires massive luck and RNG, and you require plot armor to not run into a god tier being that will one shot you because you are directly attacking their domain unlike other methods which will mostly cultivate privately at their own pace. In practice, you're going to be grinding zombies at 30% efficiency with some highlights giving you 130% efficiency compared to every other method at 80-100% efficiency.

Personally I think the biggest problem with Vermilion is that it appeals to people seeking a shortcut, when there is no need for that shortcut. If one was prepared to take things steadily and progress with one's own talent, it's unneeded. If you aren't prepared to do that, then you're likely to also try and take further shortcuts, which due to the method could cause you to gain great enemies. Besides the fact that mass murderers aren't exactly that well liked to begin with.

Have a Yandere who's ability is time loop. She traps the target in a time loop and if they die or fail they reset back to the beginning of the loop. They don't remember everything (unless the yandere specifically gives them the memories back), but they do retain a sense of dejavu, and they are subtly influenced by their experiences. Machine is definitely S tier in my opinion, especially if you take the alchemy/crafting options. I would personally put forge at A to A+ tier in comparison. It's not all symbolic mysticism I hate. It's mainly celestial stuff in particular. It might be some association with astrology nonsense, but I can't completely define it. Hell it could be some anime character I hate from something I don't even remember watching with a celestial theme causing some issues via association. As far as other symbolic mysticism, like voodoo dolls are cool, doing some ritual with an ox skull to strengthen warriors before battle is fine, and for some reason(probably related to a book I read when I was like 12) I love the idea of stuff like using iron to ward away evil spirits, or silver being somehow mystically pure such that it can work against impure beings like werewolves. I could go on, but I guess I have a cyoa to read.

I would pick Blood Brother insterad of Fist of Fury for HxH world.
With Times Ten you can go from (realistically) average talent to someone like Zushi, so instead of taking 1 year to learn the 4 basics, you take 1 month and a little more. But that is still way behind people like Killua and Gon. Maybe you could reach the level of someone like Morel of Knuckles, at your full potential. Meanwhile Gon and Killua were approaching them as barely teenagers.

With Blood Brother you get the skills of beings you suck blood from, and nen is skill, its a better steal ability than Chrollo's, as you not only get hatsu, but the rest of their skill so sucking the blood of someone that can do an en of 300m, would let you do that too.
The only thing stopping you is your aura amount, but maybe you could find or do eventually a nen ability like meruem's to permanently increase it, you could eventually have the accumulated skill of who knows how many nen users.

The problem is that destroying slowly a small part of your brain and healing that same part is a complex process and that was something he improvised on the spot, he didn't train it. So he unable to heal his brain fully, leaving parts damaged, he could ignore it (thats why his nose started bleeding) but repeating that made the damage accumulate until it was too much to do a domain expansion.
Just like Yuji could do RCT but was a novice at it, so he could heal himself but left some parts without healing out of a lack of practice.

I did the math, if you want to really do a godly husbandry build with this to get all wives you would get 21 perks. Normally getting all wives costs 16 perks, but one of the drawbacks negated by this halves it so it only takes 8. That leaves 13 perks for you. By the way this is assuming you can only pick a certain drawback 6 times despite the description technically allowing it to give infinite points, I assume that was not intended. It also ignores the gate, technically taking the gate gets you one more perk as you can now take the mission, but the net gain is 0, I guess that means you can take all the gates for free, but that honestly sounds like a bad idea.

I normally agree that getting immortality as something basic is good.
But it doesn't fit in with the worldbuilding.
For example, I want a larger-than-life mythic hero, but if everyone with magic is ageless, then it would not make sense for him to be seen as mysterious and idolized so much.
I could make it so only the peak magic users are ageless, but that would still present the same problem, or maybe it is possible, but no one has managed to gain it yet.
Maybe I could present multiple roads to it, like
