My main method of playing magic has been my cube with friends. Occasionally we buy cards or got to a pre-release like with Final Fantasy. But nobody in my friend group is excited for magic anymore. The creators made her bi as a last ditch effort to salvage the series by pushing the envelope and sadly they sort of succeeded. Now anyone who criticizes the series for its offputting characters, subpar villains, cliche moral lessons, nonsensical lore retcons, and wasted potential gets labeled a bigot for valid criticism unrelated to the main characters sexuality.

Coincidentally this is also why for the mrg release they are leaning hard into the first avatar series where all the likeable characters are and where most of the nostalgic value comes from.

Blue having counterspells never really stopped anyone from winning with non-blue decks. Blue will lose to red because red can tard out with a bunch of cheap creatures and bolts and blue can't do very much about it. Blue will lose to green for a similar reason. Black of course can force blue to pitch its counters against discard and then play stuff when defenses are down. White has always been able to drop a bunch of creatures (some of which now prevent blue from playing spells on other player's turns) and then Armageddon lands away for a guaranteed win. Or it can orim's chant with the kicker to stop all counterspells.
