the canon relations are pretty straightforward

>life and beasts (cooperation and competition)
>fire and metal (consumption and transformation)

problem is that some winds simply have more interactions than others, like life which also bounces with death to create the seasons in the mortal realms, and that no representation of the winds/realms is actually in a perfect order: the old wheel of magic didn't put the opposites on opposite ends safe for light and shadow, the others were arranged in the progression of the light spectrum. meanwhile the aos wheel is not allowed to put light and shadow on opposite ends because they have to be portrayed as circling one another; and it inexplicably fucked up the spectrum gradient because the artist misplaced ghur, but otherwise they're portrayed in close pairs except for azyr and shyish which are separated by hysh and ulgu
and it all gets even more confusing if you try to align the winds/realms with the chaos gods, which DO have more or less direct connections, but cannot be lined up while retaining the gods' relations.

the safest takeaways are:
>the interactions of the cosmo's components are too complex for a normal mind to grasp, let alone represent neatly in two dimensions
>the nature of magic and gods can, did, and keeps changing in momentous turnings and there's a tugwar between chaos and order for arranging the cosmos, and since the struggle is ongoing, the cosmos isn't yet fully consistent in its interactions one way or the other

I actually agree with this, I feel around Storm of Chaos the art style changed and looks way too propagandic for empire for a lot of the "major" pieces that were prominently used. I feel like it was partly by design and partly just that the artists they hired to work on empire had been doing a lot of 40k battlepile pieces and kinda couldnt get out of that look.

I love the old 6e and before art of the empire so much. Someone on tg once said about the troll fight piece something along the lines of

The horns are a khaki color over a dark reddish brown like rhinos hide in the lower indented parts. Then I just washed it all with thin skeleton horde, washed the top half with dark brown, then the upper third with ratling grime. All thinned down with water.

Yeah but it’s doable. It’s cut really weird to avoid mold lines but then you get some gaps that are hard to fully close. Applying pressure to let the pegs fit in is hard since the model has lots of thin pointy parts that can snap if you push too hard. You have to squeeze it in an odd direction or find a way to cut the pegs and make it fit anyway. The bell and base are the worst since they are two pieces that slide in perpendicularly with a peg and the only thing keeping them fully in place without the little sliver of a gap showing is the fact that it’s stuck to the base

I think the deal with the boomstick on a stick is that it's effectively a very tiny cannon and that requires a LOT less moving parts, tiny pieces, and training compared to the more advanced anythinglocks. Remember, these guys are on crusades and shit they rarely have time to really sit down and fix anything more complex than a boom tube. Fusil Majors, Captains, Champions, etc. can afford more complex weapons because of their status.

Whats funny is they have a close helm version but they give it to Fusiliers (with the excuse that they need it incase their gun blows up in their face which is the stupidest lore) and it looks great. There's also artwork of a few closed helms that look amazing yet they exist on none of the models. My main gripe with CoS is they should have been more generic with the sculpting instead of trying to be too unique with Steelhelms. It's fine if they were an elite faction but if you're running 60 Steelhelms it's just kind of ridiculous that every 10 man squad has the exact same fat guy and old granny.

You have normal guns still around, like on the witch hunters and Callis & Toll, they're just equipped with literal hand-cannons because they're fighting hulking chaos warriors and ironjawz. Imo the different body types they slotted into the kit are fine, my biggest gripe is how often the head options you get are like 80% just “no helmet” and “the same head as before, but with a hat on”, particuarly with the wildercorps. You can very easily slot any head from any kit onto any other body with either no effort or minimal effort (and throw empire ones onto them just as easily) but it feels weird to do that and end up with a fusilier who’s the much more safety-minded twin brother of your steelhelm. The wildercorp leader’s closed mask helmet is sick as fuck though and I wish that was something all unit leaders got a version of

You dont understand. The units of rank and file game shouldnt be overly dynamic pose wise. variation with AoS chaos for ToW is fine as a little variation is good. Full on centerpiece models multiple times in a unit and even more if you have multiple units just looks really offputting. Its worse for monopose stuff like that as they look even more same-model-syndrome than the old barely any choice none dynamic models. Cathay are great modelwise as are the new maruaders that got shown.

This. Round base games like 40k and AoS can get away with lots of bits going over the rim because there's leeway in how close they have to be and in what direction they're facing. Rank and flank can't do that because they have to be in uniform order so flanking effects and similar can apply

Tzeentch warriors are chaos warriors to begin with they wouldnt not be ripped or athletic. Slaanesh warriors just go for more slender builds but if you fully covered them in armour (like one kit does) they arent much different until the armour shaping. A Tzeentch warrior kit would just have their armour with bird, fire, and eye motifs, mutated segments, and shiftying stuff.

The one tzeentch model the anon initially mentioned isnt even mostly musclely. Theyre a NOT-X-WHF character model and the smaller of the two brothers just looks more ripped due to the skin tone and how shading works.

The fact that Tzeentch devotees "just kind of look like a Chaos warrior I guess" makes me roll my eyes. It would be cool and unsettling if it was otherwise.
You see a Chaos Lord who looks like Pavarotti, you immediately think "Nurgle!" You see a Chaos Lord who looks like Slenderman you immediately think "Tzeentch!" That's what I'd like.
It would add an element to the very lackluster and bare bones visual language of Tzeentch, with whom the designers always struggle.

I agree the concept is cool but havign all your warrior untis be frail looks odd. If anythign they could just make the armour have extra limbs, or be shifting and reforming be their 'thing' for body types. The cult aspect for them doesnt have to just be focussed on their bodies, it could double down on the armour aspect as the motifs carry a lot of the effect.

The models like nice and all, I'd even say they look like they'd be really fun to paint, but it stings a bit that something as good as the current blightlord kit will have to be canned.
