Most egregious example of that kind of thing I've ever seen was back when they were first rolling out 360-degree images and for some bizarre reason the Baneblade they used was completely missing a huge section of one of its tracks at the rear. Always wondered how on Earth something like that could have gotten onto the webstore, I find it unbelievable that they only had one (1) single painted Baneblade available at the whole of GW HQ.

I mean it's just such a weird decision to make on a unit with four (4) models. Managed to paint up the peasants just fine, and they let the eavy metal team go fucking crazy on the nurgle stuff. The crane & ironhail gunners pics definitely feel like some intern's fuckup.

Played a bloody Battle March battle of 500. Standard pitch battle but 15" gap under the new maps.

The Khornate horde tore through the Cathayan left flank but then the infantry were murdered. The Chaos Hero and Knights, returned to the field after chasing them off.

After a failed charge, the Cathayan infantry counter charged and drove them from the field!

Was pretty fun honestly, it all came down to one charge and if the Warriors could hold, but alas they broke.

Still, Khorne was satisfied, BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD!

ogres are genuinely smart, they just don't apply themselves or learn how to apply themselves better because their first answer to problems is violence, and since they're ogres, that's often enough to solve their problems

I liked the Cathay stuff they revealed, but honestly, since they made deal about the reveal show being the last one of the year I expected a lot more (which is my fault for even remotely having that level of faith in GW). Not just from Old World, but from 30k as well.

Lookswise I consider them more of a sidegrade. I really like the weapons, the armor, the ribbons and drapery, the horns, and just the absolute girth of these lads. Mutations might be lacking but that also means none of what I mentioned is overshadowed, there's nobody with a giant hole in their belly where that's 90% of what you notice about them.

But aside from just looking sick the current blightkings also have an incredible amount of variety in terms of build options. You can get five boxes of them and still have none of the assembled models end up looking the same. That's what I'm afraid the new models won't measure up to, because almost no other kits currently carried by GW does.

True, the problem is that this can make your proportions look a bit wonky. While it can look fine in still images, actually being able to move in it and have that look natural is a different matter entirely (as well as the obvious problem of having to physically wear the stuff if it's an extra bunch of metal on your shoulders for long periods of time). It's why I'm never fully sold on the orc costumes mentioned by >>96950365 , they can look a bit goofy when actually moving due to having to bulk the legs out to match the upper body.

>>96950356
I've worn a few different monster suits that have stilts build in, it works fairly well to give you an extra half a foot to a foot of height, but any more than that gets pretty difficult to safely run around, particularly at speed.

Did a 1000 teaching game against a Tomb King player today. My beastmen but played a bit less try hardy vs skeletons, casket, and tombking on chariot with 2 chariot unit.
Was only a minor victory on my side cause his tomb king did donuts around the field constantly unable to charge cause I'd move out of front arc, and he took the banner from my primal herd and I killed the casket and all his archers and a 2 model tomb swarm. That's all the points earned by either sidewas 250 vs 390. Wait is that a minor victory?

Only question is just owning the dagger of malice give all those abilities, or only when using it. Cause if it's when using, he shouldn't be able to be frenzy baited cause he would choose to walk around with the other weapon out. But if he does just get those abilities without using the weapon, then two-hand weapons is worth having on him.

Even so the list is somewhat confusing. Fireglaives can both shoot and fight. If you can't have Black Orcs, field a unit of 18 Fireglaives. 6 wide so they can fire more shots.
Keep a unit of Cutthroats, give them armor and increase their model count so they can tarpit.
Keep a unit of Sneaky Gits for shenanigans, Magma Cannon is good too, but you need a hammer unit that actually kills, so an Iron Daemon or Bull Centaur Renders.
As it stands right now each unit will just die immediately if charged since they're so tiny so you need to up survivability.

GW store employees are primarily focused on meeting their KPIs, which will fall into two categories: specific targets for new product launches, and general targets for revenue. It's rare that new product launches won't basically take care of themselves, they'll almost certainly sell out of whatever allocation they receieve, so their primary concern is meeting overall sales targets and the unfortunately reality is that being a "specialist studio" game, TOW stuff isn't going to be a big part of their ongoing, meat & potatoes stock. It'll get a little token corner with a limited selection of stuff from the most recent releases, but 9/10 times if someone walks in looking for a TOW or 30K or Nucromunda or whatever product, the wagie will have to direct them to the internet and they know damn well if they do that most people won't even use the official GW website to order, let alone do it from the in-store ordering terminal and come back to collect it which is the only way that sale counts towards their sales stats.

Much better, from the perspective of the wagie looking to keep their job, to do the bare minimum required for launch weeks of new niche products and focus their efforts on pushing Space Marines and Stormcast. Also most of GW's stores are now run by disinterested retail staff hired to sell shit rather than actual hobbyists - for a while having more than a passing interest in GW products was actually counted against you if you applied for their retail arm, on the assumption that a real hobbyist might do dangerous things like suggest what a customer might actually want rather than what GW wants them to buy.

Especially since I often come in on 'off-hours' so it's usually just me and the dude running the store. In my experience the people running the store are usually pretty passionate about the game(s), mostly 40k and aos though. Good morning everybody. I come bearing gifts from the Dark Gods. Praise be!

Marauders: 30mm bases, no more marks. Foot marauders get light armor built in and horsemen get shields but lose skirmish.
The new tribal aspects replace marks. They get once per game effects, mostly stat buffs.
There's new mutations for units. Most units can pick one, a few can pick two and they can be duplicated.
There's some minor restrictions to who can take what, but otherwise they're mostly "choose any you want". They are useful buffs like conditional stat buffs, MR, or other miscellaneous bonuses. They're pretty juicy.
There's a new spell lore as well. Fairly solid from what I have heard, but has a couple of oddities in it.
The new magic items have some interesting ones, but nothing groundbreaking.
No mammoth, no new dragon, and the only new profiles are the updates to the RH marauders.
Release date imminent.

You're wrong, because there are several "theys" involved with different degrees of power.

Like there's probably a head of product design for all GW, then a lead product designer for the main studio, and a lead product designer for SDS. Maybe even further subcategorized into lead product designer for 40K, AoS, etc. They all have competing motives. Like the AoS guy would lowkey want TOW to fail, it existing only limits his options.

sure but in the context of the original 'addressing the elephant in the room' conversation 'they' are just the overall financial guys / shareholders. I'm sure the aos lead wouldn't be too happy if tow suddenly exploded in popularity but what the fuck would he have to do with it
Anonymous No.96954200 [Report] >>96954289

There's bound to be politicking involved. Like the main studio lead and the AoS lead go to a pub for lunch and the AoS lead moans about resource allocations or how his team had already concepted the next wave of Skaven so they definitely can't go back to TOW, etc.

Parts of different teams are going to be making different pitches to the higher-ups, some will fail, some will succeed. It's a competition for resources between branches. The lead guys may also have their favourites. You can say "they just want money" or whatever but that's an oversimplification. If the guy with power is literally the same guy who invented/instigated AoS he's going to be committed to AoS succeeding for his own sense of self-worth and legacy. Everything they sell "makes money" and their production is currently maxed out, they have room to be picky and champion their faves.

>if the guy with power is the same guy who instigated AoS
See this I could believe but I'm pretty sure that was alan merrett and he's been gone from gw for nearly a decade. Jervis Johnson has also been retired for about 4-5 years and he was the main rules guy for early aos iirc. Tom kirby too, has been long gone.

What would you think about a Chaos player who mixes 40K and Fantasy together? Like, daemons would be the exact same, obviously, but some Chaos Warriors would have a fusion of plate armor and power armor, and the melee weapon they hold might be a chain axe or something.

yeah, but that's what he's done in every one of his games. Usually 20, but once 24 and twice 16. They can fight, but they just die to magic too easily and shooting ironically. Two units of 10 at least let him shoot two different targets and look in two different directions.
>cutthroats
Yeah, I had them as 25 initially with armor, but then went to 20 with armor, but that left 5 points over still, so i dropped the armor and gave tau'ruk the vambraces.
>Gits
naw, I'd drop all the cutthroats to keep both gits. I'm willing to guarantee they would more than double the performance of the cutthroats making their cost that much better, even if I literally put them in the place the cutthroats would normally be on the battlefield.
>Centaur
well, fuck if it does need a unit of renders this list is fucked.

I can see why Chaos dwarves aren't doing fantastic. Their chaff units are a bit too chaffy, their elite unites are a bit too elite. Black orcs are probably the best core unit they have, but need a BOB to get. All of their special units are pretty decent, but after core and characters you run out of points. At 2000 pts, you probably get gigasmashed by the other armies cause then they also get their 0-2 per 1k units and every one of those will outperform chaos dwarfs. The train and the centaurs are their best unique thing, and both cost to much to be effective in the list.

My plan is to make them indiscernible. The power armour would be more like the Renegade Chaos Marines from Rogue Trader with the Giger vibe, mixed with the spikey weird ornate armor from the Ian art back in the Realms of Chaos books.
Realms of Chaos is the primary inspiration, really.
My real worry is weaponry and WYSIWYG: most of them would be holding 40K weapons, or at least have them on their person, hanging from a strap or something.

I big time doubt that. Heresy will continue to exist as a product because it's low cost. You make one space marine kit and 95% of HH players can buy it for their armies. It's a great business model, but it can make it seem overly popular in terms of player count if you go just by sales of kits.

There are always going to regional differences but based on all the GW stores I've visited (local and abroad, across 5 different countries in total) the shelf space is what I'd measure what GW considers to be the big seller and in general the shelf space allotment goes as: 40k, AoS, HH & KT. I've seen a single TOW core book once in a GW store and it was tucked away with Underworlds. GW. You're probably right on the money with HH being a very spartan product that has a low investment cost and good returns. I think TOW is doing very well as well and that should be obvious to all with the plastic kits they are investing into it, but I'm not convinced it's on the same level of popularity as any of their other games. And I think that's also a good thing. You want TOW to sell enough that GW will continue to humor us and leave the TOW designers alone. You don't want it to become so popular that is starts catching the suits attention so much that they begin meddling with it like they are meddling with the main studio games.
