As a kid when I first saw the first 2007 wave I thought Bionicle was ending. Like, we didn't get any new limb or torso pieces. Most of the Barraki felt awkward, lanky, skeletal and barebones. We only got four small sets. And only one titan sized set which was just a canister sized set with four arms, leg pistons and a reused face in a different color.

Underwater arc was kinda peak, in my opinion, as each figure was built differently, and felt like unique characters, rather than just recolors. They felt like toa mata did with onua's hunched back, and pohatu's kicking mechanisms.
I also recall 4 boxes sets, plus two exclusives, that all were really cool. Not as cool as axomm and brutaka, but still pretty cool!
Only thing I disliked about them is the brittle clear plastics, as my takadox has a replacement bicept that's clear orange, and my nocturnal's heel piece disintegrated when I tried moving it :'(
I'm also fond of their matoran, as they felt like actual "little guys", rather than weird ass hobbled together tiny dudes.

What probably happened is that they talked to someone working at the Lego Group who pointed them to TLG's Fair Play policy. Which Team Kanohi for some reason communicated publicly as Lego "allowing" them to develop and publish the game. The legal team at TLG probably wasn't even notified about the game for the longest time. Also, since that Portal N64 remake Valve had to get more proactive in monitoring games based on the IPs of other companies. You either need to be the owner of an IP or have a license to produce a game with the IP to put it on Steam, which Team Kanohi didn't have. So the whole thing probably came to the attention of Lego after Valve notified them about it.

Am I alone here? I have always loved the Nuva. Objectively they should be less interesting to me than the 2001 sets, but I just really like their overall look and functionality albeit the fact that they're very uniform for the most part, Onua and Pohatu excluded. The iconocgraphy of Tahu riding his lava board is just so powerfully kino, and all the other tools being able to be put on the feet fascinated me as a kid.

I think I saw some webstore was selling G1 socket joints in different colors like the shoulders and hips on the toa mata. Can anyone vouch if these repros are worth buying? you can either prime a part and brush paint them with gamesworkshop paint ot some other miniature paint which has a large color selection, or you can buy like 5 or 10 spray paint cans until you find the right shade you need. ive done it just takes time.

I own Zaktan and Vezok and their ball joints are still in perfect condition. The issues with ball joints started in 2007 with lime pieces, and I also noticed the long double-sided ball socket (thighs/upper arms) pieces of the Mahri are more fragile than normal too. Then obviously, the 2008 joints were super fragile too regardless of color. So no, I don't think the Piraka have any joint issues in particular.

I had an idea for how I would have liked a soft reboot of Bionicle to go, feel free to be honest if it sounds retarded to you but I thought it might be cool.

If they were A. Going to follow plans to involve the Vahi, time travel and temporal displacement, and B. Wanting to bring back the core/heart of the franchise (The Toa Mata) I think it'd be palatable to me if they did it in a similar way to this. Perhaps either the Marendar, Velika or both lay waste to the Toa and ultimately the world is taken over by them. Velika could be the God of Control (kind of an absolute form of the power of the Komau he wore while in disguise) and fills a similar role to Makuta in G1, but actually already rules Spherus Magna instead of Makuta being the insidious lurking Satan type character.

In regards to the Toa, maybe the Order of Mata Nui or a combination of them and Takanuva made a last ditch effort during their war with the Marendar/Velika to find some way to combat them, and if not, outlast them in semi-immortality. I thought this could take form in a Bio-soul, a type of sentient protodermis that contains the spirits of Toa like Tahu, and also allows them to bestow Toa powers upon mortal/organic characters like Agori. (If you have played the Megaman Zero franchise this might sound familiar.) The story could follow that the Toa return in a way, the toys themselves looking similar to the original 6, albeit distinctly new characters wielding the Bio-souls of their respective fallen toa, Tahu, Gali, etc. While also allowing new tales to be told in a new world stitched together from two halves.
