Diorama Thread
i know it looks huge & is taking up a lot of space. but this is the type of quality & scale i want in a Diorama.

like can u imagine that 20 in tall galactus here?
Anonymous No.11438095 [Report] >>11438149
That picture is the dream, hopefully some day I'll have the space to build out a city scene like that.
For now I've just got a few building/diorama pieces made by various companies slapped together in a clusterfuck display.

Hopefully that one finook doesn't meltdown over me having the neca building like he does with that other guy on here.

i think it’s 3D printed and painted well. i saw it on tik tok. I saw cerebro, kang’s throne & other stuff. it’s not just city stuff

U see that water tower? It has peg holes for those arms so that u can attach and get some flying/jumping poses. weird how big companies don’t do this.

That's fucking amazing. I would love for Hasbro or someone to just make modular city buildings that are just sections of plastic walls that can be assembled together and then taken apart to be packed flat. Then have separate rooftop sections if you just want to make a display for that. I would buy so many.

yeah I really thought neca was onto something with the street scene diorama, but then they did nothing with it but repaint the same building and make more ninja turtle slop.

I know there's stuff like the OP pic available, but it's also like $500 plus shipping, if one of these big companies made these it'd be like half that price. I know people have asked for diorama pieces before, so what's the hold up? Hasbro for example has never even tried, so they can't say "our data says it won't sell" or some other excuse.

I really like Palisades muppet dioramas, but they’re pretty pricey nowadays. There’s a lot of dioramas on Etsy etc in the 6 inch scale, but they’re very expensive, too. I’d say dollhouse stuff works okay, but it’s usually kind of a Victorian aesthetic with iffy furniture which isn’t always what you want or very modern/well made and thus just as pricey as everything else.

There’s definitely a good niche that would generate money for mass produced clip together action figure diorama kits sold like gunpla or 30MS, kinda surprised Japan doesn’t really have them.

Go yank your cock through your ass, I don't mean they need to stop making turtles stuff, just that they should make more generic things in addition.
The first release of the street scene building was an exclusive turtles release, then they made the generic version, surely they can find a way to make like a generic sewer scene with the other dioramas they've made.

Yeah, having just got into toys, I've finally started looking for diorama/set pieces and stuff and quickly found what you described to my shock
I wouldn't have thought that stuff like a some background walls and tables and shit would be so much more than the highly detailed and articulated figures you can get.

I"m actually trying to make some 1/12 scale buildings myself, but sadly, the place I'm living rn needs some serious renovation, so before I can finish miniature buildings I'm forced to finish the real one first. So this project is paused for a while, once hobby room is finished, I'll do an entire scene.

Stuff you can see on that photo is carved from 2cm thick XPS styrophoam sheet from construction store. If you have a hot glue-gun, making this building costs less than 5 bucks, but it still requires some final touch, filling the gaps and painting.
I want to 3D print small elements for my diorama, like window frames, vases, furniture, signs, etc. I'm also thinking about replacing current doors with openable 3D printed ones. But main body of those buildings will be build with carved styrophoam.
You can try building one yourself, it's not that hard really and gives a lot of satisfaction.

You can get those polystyrene sheets with different shapes/textures including brick, concrete, and corrugated roofs that old-school model railroad types use to make their buildings.
I believe Blick and other art stores carry them, and you can always order them online.

They are perfect for 1:18 figs and very fun to put together.

I can share my ready-to-print manga and cover art if you'd like.
For manga, it's simple: the four pages are in a row. Just cut them out, fold them, and glue the cover on top.
Same for the model kit box
For the covers, it's the size of real boxes divided by 12.

Well, I had trouble finding the manga covers with the binding, so I scanned mine. It's the French version, but at this scale, it's hard to distinguish the language of the summary on the back or the name of the publishing house.
For the size, I took 17cm, the average I obtained by measuring my volumes, divided by 12.
So there's manga, hentai, game/vinyl covers, model kit boxes, posters and Yugioh cards
(SNES boxes can be folded back on themselves like the originals, I've already tried that)

How lazy do you have to be for that? It takes a few minutes to make yourself and you can make dozens of them. For that price, you can buy 180g sheets.
Seriously, making 10 DS game boxes costs me 2g of plastic, so 4 cents. For the ink, I use recycled cartridges. For the images, I use OpenOffice because it allows me to change the size directly in centimeters and millimeters. With a script, I can rescale them all at once. I can print more than 100 on a single sheet of paper. Cutting and gluing them takes me less than 2 hours.
And people are selling them 1 for 1 dollar?!

It's not hard to make this stuff too look decent. Even if you don't have access to a color printer at home, there's places like Fed Ex Kinko or similar mom and pop print shops that let's you use computer time by the hour and print to a color printer. There's full sheet label paper or full sheet color photography printer paper (obviously matte or a flat finish for a diorama). There's even 11x17 color printers if you need something big. And card stock and similar 'arts and crafts' supplies can be had at dollar stores or Target for cheap, especially if you stock up after back to school sales.

>>11452236
looks basic but good effort, especially the posters. I guess I would like it better if the walls (backgrounds) were painted something more interesting - it's look like a sad person's apartment.
