What is the "proper" way to paint a kit? Full assembly then separate into smaller parts like legs and remove seams, then primer, then paint? I thought about just painting every piece based on the runner color but then I would need to paint again if I tried to remove seams or stuff like that

I finally sorted out some weapons for Aider. Her torso joints needed some tightening since the came pretty loose oob. I wish the leg straps were at a different angle so it didn't look so weird when her legs move outwards at pretty much any angle.

The point is that 30ml, and many other lines heavily promote modularity and customization. What is worse than working on a kit over a couple weekends to get it all painted and decaled up, only to find out that a new expansion kit has been announced that would have worked perfectly with your custom. You now have a choice, throw out your old work or live with it always being less than it could be.

This literally happened to me when Rishetta's Freesia Wear was announced, I had a great layout all worked out and was in the process of gluing necessary connections when I got to strip it down because the Freesia Wear perfectly solved multiple issues.

Don't bother if you don't have separate room with active ventilation. Resin printing produce toxic fumes during the process (which still takes long) and parts themselves require cleaning in acetone later, another stuff you don't want to inhale.

Try to find some company that print on demand instead. Local scale model scene might have few people who print for others for a price, too.

And I did look for printing services but it looks like they're mainly for stuff that are flat, not for 3d surface.
In my case, I'll have to make a custom jig or something to hold the faceplate so that it rotates along with curvature of the faceplate because according to the videos I've seen, the printer is set very close to the surface of the print.
Still studying though. Just wanted to know if there's anyone that's tried it already.

Newfag to 30MS here, recently put together Ilshana and I'm super happy with her but I'd like to get her some option parts besides the Scout Costume. I'm a bit confused by the bodytype stuff I've seen mentioned in 30MS discussion - is picrel compatible with her and Scout parts, or is there some sort of issue fitting them together that I should be aware of? Also, what sets do you guys recommend for her in general?

after i fully paint and assemble the model, the rubbing on the thighs and hips scratches the paint off

As a rule of thumb you should ALWAYS prime a part for painting unless you're doing teeny details. Topcoats should also generally be done unless you're just doing teeny details. Doing both will greatly reduce paint-removal issues, yes. The stuff isn't invincible though, so if you handle the kit poorly or grind moving parts together you'll still chip stuff. So just prime, paint, topcoat, and don't handle your girl like a raging autist. The only way to make a paint job that's virtually indestructible (as far as typical handling and movement of these kits goes anyways) is to use something heavy duty like 2K topcoat, but you should only do that if you have an appropriately powerful respirator and exhaust system lest you wish for your lungs to violently self-destruct.

Sit down and contemplate this for a moment. Primer is added to help paint adhere to the surface that normally poorly accept paint (Kotobukiya plastic will make water based paint literally float), some more aggressive primers like lacquer-based bound strongly to the surface itself. "Top-coat" as is usually called is extra durable transparent paint that is supposed to secure otherwise fragile paint layer.

So you are asking if using solution that, respectively, helps paint adhere to surface and prevent already painted surface from damage will help avoiding chipping.

There's three different heads (and other bits) you can put on that thing to make it more or less furry, depending on your tastes. That one is the 'High Kemono' (most furry) head and body configuration. The 'Medium Kemono' shortens the snout, shrinks down the paws, and reduces some of the fur on the thighs and chest. It depends both on the plastic cement (not all mixtures are created equal and thus strong enough), and the actual plastic type (regular plastic cement can melt strong ABS to a degree, but rarely to a high quality degree). Ideally what you'd do is make your own mixture copying something similar to Mr. Cement SP (aka the universally best hobby cement on the market). It's basically just methyl ethyl ketone (MEK) and some acetone. Chop your bits into a glass jar, throw in a mix of like 70% MEK and 30% acetone, and let it do its thing. Not only will you get perfect sprue goo, but you'll also save a lot of money in the long run by making your own plastic cement.
