When will classified tackle the original 14 Joe’s?
What's everyone hoping to see revealed? I'm excited for more Cobra-La.

>>11439984You still haven't taken it out of the box?
>>11439984FREE IT ALREADY
Give me Skullbuster or a retro rerelease of that damn Range Viper. I don't want to have to spend $50 plus to get that figure.
What's the leak on a new Firefly, just a new figure with a big ass machine or something? It'd be nice to get one without the weak ab crunch.
>>11440162Maybe. I swear they teased this version of Firefly awhile ago.
I have 3 range vipers. One red and 2 blue. Was their release the biggest fumble ever? Has anyone ever seen them in stores?
>>11440269I've literally never seen ANY of the Walmart exclusive Joes in stores. I only got one of the blue Range Vipers, but I like the one from the fireteam better anyway. Also managed to nab two of the PoC-themed Alley Vipers when they went up on the website, and then two more when they went up for like 50% off a few months later.
>>11440272Yeah I missed out on the alley vipers just have one of the default ones. I'm hoping one of the vehicles may clearance sometime. I have the missile trailer but nothing to tow it with
>>11439819 (OP)Didn't they yank Dial Tone from circulation because they fucked up his head sculpt ala Falcon and Cover Girl?
The few pics I've seen of him have the same botched plastic problem that Falcon and Cover Girl had.
>>11440426No, he looks fine from what I've seen. Theory is they shifted his production to Vietnam.
>>11439831They've already made 8, 2 more have been pipelined, and 1 is rumored to be revealed tuesday. So only 2 more to go. Also bad bait is bad.
>>11440269No, i looked though. I got one luckily but grabbed the fireteam so id have another. Lovely figure.
>>11440296I sometimes want to sell my hiss, its just sitting in a closet, sealed. I just do not have the space to display it.
>>11440495Man i seem to think hasbro said this would be a slow year well before this whole situation began. Is it due to changing factories?
>>11440595>Is it due to changing factories?I would guess so, things are starting to hit though. Retros (which say "Made in Vietnam") just dropped, and the next mainline wave + Heavy Duty are slated to drop later this month
their action figures have been made in Vietnam for ages now
>real American hero
>Made in China
>>11440760Wow, dusted that off from the 80s huh
>>11439883Of the named leaks and rumors?
>Cesspool>Pythona>Retro Zarana>GolobulousWhat I want? Eco Warriors and DEF, maybe G.I. Joe Extreme.
>>11440605Cool, im really hoping to get back into classified again. Zandar, dial tone, maybe a crystal ball or snake armor are all exciting to me.
>>11440760Mine say taiwan, which is not a part of china.
>>11440803No battleforce 2000? Id like some def, never saw those episodes or figures.
>>11440803I want to see some Battle Corps stuff. That stuff feels actually likely (as much as I would like to see some of the more crazy mid-90's stuff as well) and awhile back they already vaguely hinted at some figures like Battle Corps Beachhead.
>>11439923This would kill the line
>>11439883Bombstrike and Blackout 2-pack
>>11441124It's a rumored set, you cock gobbling wombat
>>11440760its not made in china retard
>>11440426>>11440495The problems with Dial Tone is that
1. They gave him a pointless slut choker collar around his neck
2. They let DEI faggots make him dark skinned because apparently Italians all have to be dark skinned.
3. They gave him a pencil mustahce instead of a nice thick 'stache.
And the swarthy dark skin basically made him look fake and plastic looking ala Cover Girl and Falcon, in terms of fails.
The fact that they yanked him out of his wave's cases is pretty clear that Hasbro knows they fucked up ala Cover Girl and Falcon and are damage controlling like crazy to fucking keep the figure from wide release to avoid a huge backlash. Especially since they know Dial Tone's one of the most demanded figures of the entire line given how batshit crazy his fanbase is.
>>11440426>>11441647You don't have to samefag and make up some retarded shit cause you don't like the figure.
>>11441656The posters are telling the truth though (and you clearly are butt-hurt you spent around $50+ for the figure to cope). They fucked up Dial Tone just like they did Falcon and Cover Girl and the fact that they pretty much discontinued the figure ASAP and yanked him from the case assortment, is proof of it in terms of Hasbro knowing they fucked up.
>>11441712You forget the worst part: if we do get a second Dial Tone figure....
1. It will be a shitty remake of the '99 Dial Tone figure in a plain brown uniform and clean shaven.
Or worse....
2. Be locked up in a Haslab release.
>>11440154>>11440162IIRC it's supposed to come with a big ass aerial drone.
>>11440269Both were internet exclusives; regular Range Viper was a Walmart website exclusive that was scalped to hell and back while the Red Range Viper was only available in a super expensive three pack with two other army builders in a garrish color scheme no one wanted.
>>11441712>>11441716>still pretending to be two different peopleIf you think this is as bad as Falcon and CG, I don't know what to tell you. Have fun with your conspiracy theories.
>>11441751It's pretty shitty as far as the dark complexion making the plastic look like dogshit. Up there with the garbage look that Cover Girl and Falcon had.
Having never fucking seen Falcon or Cover Girl in stores, what was so bad about them?
>>11441763Cover girl looked like a former model in her mid 40s who is addicted to plastic surgery and falcon looked a guy who’s entire face had to be reconstructed after an industrial accident.
>>11441647>They gave him a pointless slut choker collar around his neckYou don't know what a throat mic is?
>>11441751After reading this
>>11441647 I thought he was gonna be like, black, and not slightly tanned
He's not even Californian Mexican brown
>>11441647>> 1. They gave him a pointless slut choker collar around his neck isn't that a throat mic?
Also, if you think that this is DEI "dark-skined " you must come from a long line of albinos.
Ya. less DEI with Joes.,
Get rid of those fucking pale Anglos, black people and Asians.- and those Goddamned gingers.
Only Native Americans should be called Americans. the others are just dirty immigrants.

>>11442274He looks darker than the Classified
>>11441647Your 3 points are all wrong. And the problem with Cover Girl and Falcon is the terrible sculpts not whatever other thing you are trying to make up.
I wonder if we'll get CC, Xamot, and Tomax in business suits? I mean we're getting freakin COLD SLITHER, so anything is on the table.
>>11442834Both sets of the twins have been on deep clearance for a while, I don't see them doing another
>>11441647Is this that same anon from the MOTU threads who was trying to push that the Ninja Turtles were black-coded in the Turtles of Grayskull line and that's why they turned He-Man into an evil mutant in the toyline because "muh white genocide"?
>>11443226They just made him a mutant because HeMan has a history of getting green goo spilled on him, snd then they released a normal HeMan later
>>11442834suited CC would have to have the hood, and hasbro won't do that. Best bet is to get this guy instead.
>>11443263Pretty odd that they were perfectly content to put out hooded CC figures up until 2017.

>>11444698Who am I gonna have to climb over to preorder one of these?
>>11444700Just get a $55 membership and have a chance at preordering one on pulse.
>>11444701I have the membership, I just hope I don't do something stupid like sleep through the stream where it goes up for sale. At least I didn't today.
>>11444704SDCC exclusives have been annoying to get the last two years since they don't go up during the con anymore. They should announce what day it will be though so just keep checking here during and after SDCC to see when you can order.
>>11444707Except Deaths Head who is still on sale on Amazon
But that's a Marvel Legends not GI Joe
>>11444676I kinda want a more traditional 70s cop
But I can't afford to army build these things anymore anyway so I guess it doesn't matter
>>11444713He was never an exclusive. Just announced there. He went mainline right afterwards.
>>11444716Really? Who was the Comic Con exclusive ML that year then?
>>11444718They didn't have one. It was weird. Everyone thought it would be Death's head, but then they said he was fan channel at SDCC and he doesn't have a SDCC sticker on his box so he's definitely not an exclusive.
>>11444679Kinda annoying to have to get another Slaughter in order to get Mercer. At the very least, I hope he has pinless arms.
>>11444697I don't know how I feel about this set. I like ninjas more than a lot of other fans, but it's just not hitting for me. The last of dot pattern on Slice is disappointing, and the mask on Dice looks like it's a paint disaster waiting to happen. They made it a separate piece on the 25th version, why not here?
>>11444737Don't worry, I'll buy it and tell you how the paint is when I get it
>>11444737I'm a Pulse Premium member and these guys still aren't posted yet. I'm gonna be pretty pissed if 1PM comes by and they're all sold out.

The last of dot pattern on Slice is disappointing, and the mask on Dice looks like it's a paint disaster waiting to happen. >>11444762wouldn't be the first time they got the dates mixed up and they drop tomorrow.

>>11444762Well I just got my order in so hope you did too bissle
>>11444737>I hope he has pinless arms.A reminder to never trust hasbro renders or photography when it comes to pin vs pinless. They've been photoshopping the pins out of their Marvel Legends for a while now. People are quite upset about it over there.
Preordered the MMS, can't believe I'm actually gonna bother getting 3 "replacements" for the OG13 before we get the rest of them at all.
>>11444784Yeah they've done it for Star Wars as well. I'm more hopeful for Slaughter cause it's using the new Heavy Duty parts, and from what we've seen of him in-hand, he's got pinless arms.
>>11444784I can see why people are mad. It’s one thing to continue to use the pinned bodies despite the years it’s been since they started pinless but to hide that they’re doing it is real scummy.

>>11444878>An extra head on an army builder is bad Yeah okay

Someone is already having this argument on the usual sites and they're currently dealing with people trying to say it should come with a head where you can't see the race despite this being a more realistic design

>>11444903>army builder>don't slap a mask on him so if you buy four or more it suddenly looks like an army of clonesHmmm...
>>11444882We're getting a night force beachhead and he has a black one.
>>11444979Damn I guess it's not an Army builder then and has to be a police man who turns from white to black depending on who he's trying to arrest
>>11444905>>11444979Why are you acting like that helmet won't obscure 90% of his face
>>11444998That would be a good TV show as long as he turns white when trying to arrest a black guy and black when trying to arrest a white guy and also it would have to have been made in 1987
>>11444676Ha, he even has a cup of coffee. Does the vest come of so you could have a more casual looking police officer? Like the type of officer that gets cats out of trees instead of being ready for martail law enforcement.
>>11445033I know the context of why this was said but it hasn't been relevant for so long it comes off like a non sequitur schizo post
>>11445030Yeah every single vest can come off without damaging it if you know how to do it
>>11445030>>11445039Yeah get them in some hot water and pop the arms out of the butterfly joints. Just be careful to hold the butterfly joints in place, getting those back in is almost impossible
>>11445051This looks like somebody and I can't put my finger on it
>>11445114This is such a vague and pointless thing to say but actually you know what? I agree, it also reminds me of someone but I don't know who, maybe we're thinking of the same person
>>11445051Ah budo he listens to Korn a lot.
>>11445051Great first name
>>11446032>Anyway on topic, the Cold Slither promo pics up slip Jem posters into the background. The Misfits poster lacks a band name, I guess the real band has legally barred Hasbro from using it?Most likely. The Misfits isn't that distinct from Misfits. Kind of surprised they didn't get stopped back in the '80s, but I suspect Glenn wasn't paying attention to a cartoon aimed at 8 year old girls.
>>11443554>Someone a few threads back said it was a movie producer or somethingThe producer of the Joe films said it looked too much like a KKK hood but I'm not sure how he could dictate what Hasbro was allowed to put out, especially after three lackluster movies several years ago.
>>11444676I can't wait for the 'stop resisting' toy memes that are going to come from these...
>>11446194I suspect there are gonna be some spicy shots that are gonna hurt feelings amongst some segments of the "toy community" kek.
>>11444676I kinda like it, but as a police officer, this is kinda shitty. Using legs with kneepads and combat boots looks weird, why not use Shipwreck's pants sculpt? And they did that stupid thing again with the all black sleeves cause of the alternate heads, that shit ruined the first Tele-Viper.
Still debating whether I want the new Vipers. Still quite like the CI version, and I'd hate to "replace" them after all the trouble it was to get them, but the new ones just have something
>>11446312I'm with you, all things being equal I would have gone all in troop building the retro vipers, but the CI ones are good enough and I have enough of them now so I only got one retro to make into a leader.
>>11446208Yeah I just want a white or light blue shirt, dark pants, short sleeved, maybe fat, movie cop. Now that's an army builder
>>11446312Have both. Gear them up with different weapons and say one's a standard infantry squad and the other is, like, Demolitions or Marksman or whatever.
It's what I'm doing.
Finally picked up retro Cobra Commander. Main motivator was the alternate hands
>>11446644This is pretty cool too
>>11446312Why choose? They all work well enough together to be a big squad. If you already have a bunch of CI Vipers, the Retro one would make a good squad leader. If you only have one CI Viper, get a few Retro ones to be the grunts.
Not including the PP Viper, I'll have a squad of six since I have one CI, the three pack and will be getting two Retro. That makes one squad with two three man fireteams to work with. They're similar enough to all be considered Vipers, but different enough to have different roles in the Viper Infantry.
Kinda did a similar thing with the ME stuff as I built a small squad of the original 25th Vipers, but then got kinda crazy with the PoC updated ones. The older 25th figures got turned into technicians and drivers while the PoC ones did the front line combat. If I could find a troop carrier affordable enough to work with six Classified Vipers, I'd probably do the same with these guys.
>>11441647With all the wrong shit here this feels less like a GI Joe fan than those anons who post here explicitly saying they're not GI Joe fans and just buy Classified
>>11445039And it still got him mindbroken. Every time. Anyways a cheap way into buying G.I. Joe?
>>11446644Which gloves hands did you give Chuckles?
>>11446824Well now he's using retro CC's, but prior to that it was Tomax/Xamot hands, which is where the cuffs are from
>>11446646That cape is so fancy! Did it come with that Exclusive Black and Gold Classified CC?
>>11446312middle is best. left is next best, he reminds me of the cool VvV viper. the right one is too washed out, its like someones shitty custom where they wash him in dark paint
>>11446312The retro one really does look way better. Everyone preferred the CI one to the 3-pack one because of the more vibrant colors, and the retro one just like a better version of that.
Though, the retro and the CI one still look like they work well together. 3-pack now only really seems worth it for the Officer. The standard troopers washed out colors are kinda blah.

>>11448906They must've really overestimated the demand for that thing
>>11448912Well I've been waiting for it to go cheaper so I grabbed one. No way I was paying over 100 for it
>>11448912They probably based it on the Vamp's demand, not really understanding the demand for that one.
>>11448918Yes, I see that as a bad thing because they might punish vehicles in general
>>11446979You forgot the fact that the three pack became literal russian roulette of super failure due to the fact that the white viper got fucked up due to misassembly and him getting stuck with black viper arms.
There were a LOT of stories about people calling to Hasbro to get replacement sets sent to them (and it being 50/50 if the sets were frankensteined since Hasbro refused to do a recall and reissue the set with new packaging to let people know they got the fixed set), with Hasbro eventually caving and not even requiring people send back the old set to get a replacement set.
>>11448925Yeah the vamp is far more iconic to the joes than the stinger is to the cobras. Shame the Hiss tank was relegated to a haslab
>>11446845I gave my Chuckles Crimson Guardsmen gloved hands personally. I also stuck my secondary Chuckles head on a spare Shipwreck body; what did you do with your second Chuckles head?
>>11448942I still need to pick up some Crimson guards, never got around to it for some reason. The alternate head is just sitting in a bin, I don't really care for it honestly. I'd prefer a slight smirk or no smile at all over the goofy grin.
>>11448940>Shame the Hiss tank was relegated to a haslabWell, at one point they did seem to indicate that they were going to release a HISS that had some of the Haslab stuff stripped out, but considering it is approaching two years since the HISS came out and with all the economic crap that is going on right now, I'd have to hazard it might not be as cheap do do so anymore...
I was hoping they'd at least maybe make a blue or red one.
>>11448949You could stick the spare head on a guardsmen, it might look really sharp and i think it ties into the marvel comic lore.
>>11448981I think Shipwreck makes more sense, since the beat up goofy grin of the alternate head makes more sense in terms of being the type of face a puckish rogue type sailor would have after a night on the town boozing and getting into bar fights.
>>11448981That reminds me; what the fucking hell was Hasbro thinking giving battle armor CC a god-damn snake person eyes DIC cartoon alternate head instead of an unmasked Fred head? Especially since a Fred head would make the fucking way more desirable in terms of people buying multiples of it so they could put the head on Crimson Guardsmen figures/pair him up with Raptor as battle buddies?
>>11448995The new comic restored the cartoon Cobra La origin to Cobra Commander so they are running with it in the toy line.
>>11448995I definitely would've preferred a Fred head, but I'm more bothered by the fact that the sketch Lenny posted looks miles better in terms of detail and proportions.
>>11448906>>11448912>>11448925>They probably based it on the Vamp's demand, not really understanding the demand for that one. This strikes me as insane and it makes me sad at the same time.
In the modern world, a Cobra army building vehicle with army buildable figure is not in demand.
It would have been the first thing to sell out 10 years ago.
Where did the GI Joe fanbase go?
Who has the shelf space to army build these things? If they were smaller, sure get a ton, but I'm going to be one and done on almost all the vehicles.
>>11449105>In the modern world, a Cobra army building vehicle with army buildable figure is not in demand. It would have been the first thing to sell out 10 years ago.I mean, the HISS Tank was one of the most successful Haslabs ever. Sure, I'm sure some people just bought them to resell, but plenty of people bought multiples just to own. And it was 4x the price of the Stinger.
I think the Stinger is pretty nice, but at the same time, it is kind of just a grey brick. Also, if you display it as-is/as it is meant to be displayed, you can't even really see the figures in it unless you start removing all the panels. As someone else mentioned, the Vamp is just a more iconic version, and the Stinger is just kind of a dull grey repaint.
>>11449105>In the modern world, a Cobra army building vehicle with army buildable figure is not in demand.>Where did the GI Joe fanbase go?I'm going ti assume you don't have one. These things are big and we know more vehicles are coming. Space with vehicles this size is a huge issue, I just buy one of each and with the rattler and claw armor I'm close to capacity, without taking into account the other lines I buy.

>>11449168unless you've got beaucoup space, army building above the fireteam level is kinda pointless, as all you're gonna get is pic-related.
>>11449154The Stinger used to outsell the Vamp all the time though. It was always hard to get, so seeing it go on clearance prices like that makes me wonder what happened to the fanbase. Whether it's big or small, shouldn't it still have sold well if the fanbase remained the same? I know that Hasbro doesn't expect people to army build their 1:12 stuff like they did with 1:18 and retail has tamped down vehicle orders hardcore.
And i own bigger vehicles than that, doubles of some... in 1:18. I don't buy any vehicles for 1:12, because I don't play with 1:12 like i do with 1:18. I mean, I rarely even buy more than 1 of army buildable figs in 1:12, whereas almost every army buildable Cobra character in 1:18 i've bought at least 3 of (i think i've maxed out at 15).
And quite frankly, I don't actively buy modern GI Joes. I only buy favorites.. unless I think Mezco will make one. So the only favorites i don't own are Major Bludd and Cobra commander, because Mezco still hasn't made them.
Maybe if Mezco makes Cobra army builders, I'd own two Officer/Infantry/Alley/Range/Vipers

>>11448768It makes them so much more functional. Look at the difference between them and the two 5-pack greenshorts in that back.
>>11449225The fact the HISS, Ferret, and trouble bubble all came out before the Stinger, and the Vamp was second only to the bike probably plays a part of it too. Cobra shelves were already full and people were starving for Joe vehicles. Makes sense the Vamp would outsell the Stinger.
>>11449225>Whether it's big or small, shouldn't it still have sold well if the fanbase remained the same? >I don't buy any vehicles for 1:12, because I don't play with 1:12 like i do with 1:18>I rarely even buy more than 1 of army buildable figs in 1:12You just answered your own question within your post lol
>>11448912Or they under-produced the Vamps. Which I feel is a more likely scenario.
>>11449105>>11449225Personally, I never liked the Stinger and honestly I barely liked the Vamp. A two seater 4x4 is probably the most boring military vehicle you could make. But even not being a big fan of it, I'd always at least get one Vamp, but I'd always pass on Stingers. But seeing that add on set from Gridiron really makes me want to grab the Stinger, just to turn it into a full on mobile artillery piece. I certainly don't have room for that, but it's so much cooler when it's more then just a missile shooting pick up truck.
The main problem with that is if I had the spare $200+ I'd need to make that suped up Stinger set, I'd much rather spend it on that Warhammer tank that just popped up. That thing is probably bigger then the Stinger, but has way more parts and paints and would go great with Roboskull mkII. It's also just a far more interesting looking and playable vehicle with all it's hatches and transport seats and such.
>>11449232I don't think so. It's weird how that beatnik look was explicitly a disguise he was wearing, but in the modern revival of the comic at IDW then Skybound, it keeps getting used all the time as his normal unmasked face.
>>11448998True, this figure is the natural follow up to Once A Man Cobra Commander, and as a lot of us said when the battle armor figure was revealed, Hasbro will absolutely release a comic version with a Fred alternate head later, to try and get people to buy the same figure twice.
>>11444695Who the fuck is the weird under Flint?
And what’s up with Flint’s hand?
>>11449259You make it sound like it's a money issue. Once upon a time, people bought ALL of that shit (and doubles/triples/quadruples/etc).
>>11449319I mostly agree with you that two seaters are weak shit, hence me never owning a Vamp. A small, two seater car with exposed seating is kinda worthless, because the driver/passsanger is exposed everytime you want to use the machine guns.
Give it an ARMORED cabin AND MISSILES, where you fire at shit from behind cover or over horizon? That actually makes sense, looks cooler, and thusly, makes it more playable. It acts as a diorama piece, a setting that your GI Joes can attack because Cobra is planning on shooting jets down from a foreign military air base. Your Cobra figures also won't immediately die in the assault, because the vehicle actually offers protection.
So there's a lot of play value here.
I never liked the Vamp. It can't carry troops. No armor. Weakly armed. I think the only reason it gets any attention is purely for nostalgia reasons and nostalgia is nothing but poison. I own dozens of other vehicles and even when they have less armor, at least they can carry a bunch of heavily armed individuals to their next battle or carries a bigger weapon.
They should have made the VAMP 2 instead.

And i never got the VAMP 2, because it was rare as fuck to find in the wild. I think only Ross got them and scalpers bought them all, so aftermarket prices were high as fuck. ... and looking at eBay right now, they're still stupidly high. You can get a loose, incomplete one for the same price as the new 1/12 Stinger on eBay.

>>11448768It sounds convenient if it means you can buy or 3d print new hands when the thumbs eventually break, though
>>11449999The Vamp was always a quick Recon vehicle, never meant for frontline combat, so it having light armor makes plenty of sense to me. But it being a two seater will never not be a disappointment because even a recon vehicle can still double as a small transport, and there's plenty of space for a back seat. It was especially disappointing on the Classified version as they could have easily made the rear vent piece open up into a small storage bed or something so you could squeeze in a third figure or some extra cargo. (I also think the front winch was done in a lazy way as well).
Likewise, the Stinger was never really meant for combat either, with only four rockets it was designed to sneak in, take it's shot then gtfo. The armor panels are probably more to protect from it's own backblasts then enemy engagements. But being essentially just a recolored Vamp with doors and missiles, it was always boring to me so I always avoided it as I'm not really fond of Joe and Cobra using the same basic rides. But with all those Gridiron upgrades, it would become a whole different beast....but I don't really have the spare $300ish it would take kit the whole thing out right now, so I'll just pass on it entirely.
>>11450023I actually got three versions of the Vamp 2, the original tan, the rerelease green and the blue "Ninja" version from Retaliation. Easily one of the best Joe 4x4s ever released with the Ninja one feeling like a whole different vehicle with it's add ons. I never thought they were that hard to find back in the day, I even remember seeing em on clearance in places but never bothered getting more since they took up so much space.
>>11450086I could never find any of them PTE armored transports by me, but they always look so nice. But even the JW armored trucks are kinda cool. My only problem with most JW stuff is the canopy's don't really "open", they "break off" from Dino Damage. But that little armored truck is especially cool.
>>11449404Have they ever shown how he really looks?
>>11450620Need them to hurry up with the AWE Striker before I talk myself out of needing it
>>11450821Only in some of the Devil's Due comics, I think, and those got decanonized. Probably deliberately, he just looked like a guy with no distinctive features.
>>11450756>Likewise, the Stinger was never really meant for combat either, with only four rockets it was designed to sneak in, take it's shot then gtfo. The full name is "Night Attack Stinger", so yeah, it would have to fire all four rockets in a single salvo then retreat, as it'd give it's position away as soon as it fires. Adding a gun of some kind so it's not completely useless once it's fired all it's rockets might have been a good idea though.
But a Stinger doesn't have to be on the frontlines, it can coordinate with Televipers elsewhere, possibly one in a Flightpod, to strike at targets it doesn't have a direct line of sight to.
>The armor panels are probably more to protect from it's own backblasts then enemy engagements.>there's also standing room for two men right behind the rockets, with no protection from the backblastNice work, Destro.
>>11450756>The Vamp was always a quick Recon vehicle, never meant for frontline combatThere's a dozen other recon and scout vehicles that GI Joe has, such as the Awe striker in your collection. I also own a few of those, because it looks faster and has better weaponry, thus cooler.
So speaking as a non-nostalgiafag (I got into GI Joe in 1985), i never saw the point of the Vamp when there's many more vehicles that GI Joe has to offer that are better looking, faster, better armored, and have bigger/more weapons. As a kid, I saw the recon sled as the speedier, cooler alternative. As an adult? Well, there's the AWE Striker, LAV, hummers, Bradleys...
The Stinger, to me, it's an ambush vehicle. It drives into a picnic area, parking lot, or clear spot in a forest and waits for its target to pass by. Airliner, jet, general in a motorcade, etc. It just needs someonehidden at the top of a hill, pointing their laser at the target and the Stinger fires from where no one can see it. Or just portable radar. It can also be used as an opening attack vehicle, miles away, aimnig at bunker doors and/or gun emplacements.
It's not attempting to get into any direct fights, like a recon vehicle should.
And there's the play value with the Stinger, because GI Joe might get wind of this ambush or sneak attack, and try and prevent it from happening. The Stinger being target/play focus. This type reconning can't really be done with the VAMP and there are better alternatives for the VAMP if you just want something to push around in a car chase.
Those Mattel scout vehicles might look more boring than the Vamp, because there's no guns, but at least it has space to carry figures in the back. And i bought mine specifically just to customize. $15 each, so i can add a remote gun turret to it and paint it up. Maybe I'll just paint one up and just leave the hatch as is, because it's cool to have a guy aiming his gun at attackers behind him vs just turning a turret backwards in a chase.
>>11451078>there's also standing room for two men right behind the rockets, with no protection from the backblast>Nice work, Destro. That's always been one of my biggest gripes about the Stinger, is that it gets the back step while the Vamp doesn't.
>>11451314Yea, not defending the Vamp too much. I've *always* felt it would've been a cooler vehicle if it just had a storage bed in the back instead of those vents. Hell, if that spot just flipped open it would've been fine because it would've been great play value. But as a toy, as a two seater, generic looking 4x4, it was always the most boring of Joe vehicles. Honestly, I never even had one as a kid, my main Joe "jeeps" were the Desert Fox 6WD (and it's Dino-Hunter repaint) and the Mud Buster, two far less traditional but far more interesting looking LAVs.
Sadly I doubt Classified would ever come out with versions of any of those.
>>11451078the footpegs on the bumbers are basically there for people catching a ride, not for use in combat. Missiles in general are meant to be fired from immobile positions. So vehicles like the Bradley can't fire its TOW missile on the go.
Even direct fire artillery like these recoilless rifles can't be used on the move. So people aren't standing behind any of these vehicles when in use, unless they want to be blown the fuck away (literally).
I was pretty cautious as a kid. Despite not really knowing much about real military shit, i was aware that rockets and cannons shot hot flames out the back and always had my figures avoid these area. It was great to see a movie finally recognize that shit, with True Lies and firing the RPG inside the truck.
Even tank exhausts should be avoided, because the air stream gets hot enough to boil water when just idling. When it's moving? You can't stand anywhere close to the back of one.
>>11451434Yeah, the vamp is just boring. I'd argue its fun for kids, but man, i was one and even Hot Wheels-quallity wheel axels killed it. Stuff like the AWE striker had working wheel suspension.
Does the 1:12 VAMP have working suspension? For its price, it better.
>>11451554>Does the 1:12 VAMP have working suspension? For its price, it better. It does actually, and some very nice suspension at that. The Classified Vamp is actually very nice overall, my main two gripes with it are the winch is super lazy (no ratchet and no official place to rest the hook) and the problem I have with all retro styled Vamps in that it's trunk is useless. There's no reason the Classified one couldn't fit a hinge with some molded seats or something in the back of it as there's plenty of room. Would've made it a way more fun toy.

I have two nephews from two different brothers who are too young for action figures right now, and I kind of want to introduce them to GI Joe when they're old enough but I don't know what staple characters will be available in a few years or if Hasbro will even still be making GI Joe by the time they're old enough. One of them will be turning 4 sooner than the other but they're close to the same age. I am thinking about stocking up on some classic Joe characters and putting them away as birthday and Christmas gifts for them for a couple years, but I'm not sure if that's something thoughtful to do or if I'm just being a cringe millennial pushing my childhood stuff on kids who should be figuring out what they like for themselves.
I guess the flipside is that if they end up having no interest in them I could just flip the remainder of whatever stockpile I have on eBay and likely recoup most of the cost a few years from now, but I want to hear some other opinions before I start stocking up. Especially since the Awe Striker might be going on preorder tomorrow, and if I'm getting Joe stuff for the nephews I'd probably end up buying three instead of one. It'll never be like when I was a kid with the 3/4 line and there were vehicles and playsets in every store, but I'd still like to pass on GI Joe to them when they're the right age to appreciate it.
>>11452065I wonder if a retro cardback Roadblock is coming? They have all the toolings they need. If you have both the V3 Roadblock and the Tigerforce one you can practically make your own, but the gun would need to be green to be a true retro release.
>>11452854You really can't go wrong with Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow. Should still be able to get multiple versions of those two for the time being. Snake Eyes with Timber would probably be a big hit. Maybe even a generic trooper of some sort, like a BAT.
My nephew just turned 8, and though I'd like to get him something, I just don't think he'd give a shit about GI Joe.
>>11452872I'm planning on getting the Snake Eyes and white Timber two pack for them.
I guess the other question is how old is the right age for these things. The package says 4 and up but is 5 or 6 more appropriate? Particularly since watching the cartoon was a big part of my love for the show when I was a kid, and I don't rememeber how old I when I first saw it. I guess I can always ask the parents if they think they're ready for action figures, but I should still try to figure how long I'm gonna have to store these things.
And hey, Christmas will be here before you know it. You've got some time to start picking up some Joe stuff for your newphew.

Damn, thread hit bump limit for the first time in almost a year.
>>11454596and? Doesn't say anything about GI Joe on there. In fact, we already know tomorrow's drop is a macfarlane drop. You can do a google image search with the little triangle next to the post number. It'll take you right to the reddit post from a year ago where some guy made that.

They update for the initial release and repaint it to the vintage look on retro card backs for that sweet double dip. Sure some are straight up vintage lokking already and won't get a card back. But the option is always left open so they can get their money's worth out of new molds.

Target held out longer, but then they got like 10 Tiger Force Roadblock and Tripwire twopacks that wouldn't sell out, and then it was over for the line, at least for a few months. I could check again and see if they have anything new, I guess. The one place I know that had a good selection of GI Joe consistently was the bigger Wal-mart a few towns over, but I haven't been there in at least a year. For all I know they've dropped GI Joe too but the only way to know is to check.

If the Snowcat really is the HasLab what tiers could they do?
What characters besides Frostbite?
Snow hard Scarlet?
Iceberg?
Windchill?
>>11460544Snow camo Bio Viber.
I still think people wouldn't get that we would get a retro release late if they did this
>>11460544On one hand, I hope it is the snowcat because it would be the fastest Joe Haslab I happily ignored in it's entirety. That thing has always been one of my least favorite Joe vehicles yet it's always such a fan favorite for some reason.
On the other hand, I would really love a Classified Mobat or Mauler. I know the Ramen Racer tank is a thing, but I feel Hasbro could do a better job and make a more focused and featured tank for a similar price. But as of now my toybudget is shot so I'd have a hard time justifying a purchase that big.
is the vest removable? I'm thinking of using this for a solid snake custom
>>11460707In a way. Place the figure in hot water and pop the arms. None of the vests can be opened.
no live stream today, so much for yo jo june. And more Hasbro layoffs because they can't get over the fact that kids are no longer the main consumer of their IP. Yet they produce all these kids toys no one is buying, retailer don't want it, and force thier collector focuse lines to be toddler compliant because kids, when retail stores already have an adult collector section setup for toys ages 14+. Fuck Hasbloe C-Suites, hope the share holder lose more stock value as they continue to look at toys as kids stuff.
