New52 supes doesn't have a wired cape apparently, it just looks like it. McFarlane beginning to cheap out on the wires that he said his fans love. Something drastic is going on there.
I find it ridiculous to believe they can't figure out that the primary figure buying audience wants comic figures, not movie figures in large part--with some exceptions like Keaton Batman stuff. If anything should be in store only for useless 'billboarding' it should be stuff like these Superman movie figures. Not comic ones.
>>11450630It's also the one time Todd didn't add extra lines and detailing to the suit when in the case of the New 52, the lines and detailing was one of the distinguishing factors of that costume. Having it just be a blank buck is kind of a slap in the face to the fans, all five of them, of that version of Superman.
>>11450637Things couldve been wildly diffrent if todd dropped a few classic designs at the start of the line instead of death metal stuff or whatever the line was doing.
>>11450730There were "a few" classic designs at the start. AC1000 Supes, DC1000 Batman, Nightwing, Harley, Rebirth Joker, Rebirth Flash and 3 Jokers wave which were all pretty close to classic looks. The problem was the figures were very rough in several places, as expected from a company transitioning to making toys with higher POA than before. But some weird sculpt issues as well.
>>11450762DC1000 was pretty much the worst of them, with that weird overhanging chest cut that made no sense and badly sculpted head. But hey, people have bought up worse Marvel Legends. But this is the start of the line so people won't be so forgiving.
>>11450637Retailers open their pocket books for movie figures. It is what it is. They could be smarter and mix in comic stuff in movie lines, but I get why they'd use movie releases to offload a bunch of product.
>>11450807>Retailers open their pocket books for movie figures. If that were true I would think all the regular Superman movie figures wouldn't need to be $35 since they would be getting made in high quantities. Retailers should've learned their lesson after all the MCU bombs and all the BP2/Eternals/MCUTV stuff they had to send to Ollies.
I'm of the opinion that due to the requirement of billboarding in the license contracts, the toy company HAS to get that movie product at physical retail, even if they have to give it away to the retailer because the retailer doesn't want it. Or if they have to even pay the retailer for space on the planogram to stock it.
If retailers were chomping at the bit to take a risk on Superman movie figures, Todd would have the factories making 100k of each figure, they'd be $25, and he wouldn't need to stuff in extra heads/face plates and baby kaiju statues or a bunch of hands in with Ultraman to fool people into thinking these are worth $35.

>>11450762I do recall the batmobile baf, i thought it was a neat idea, but wasnt buying any figures since they just werent catching my attention enough to buy any. So did multiverse start around the time that mcfarlane started up the wh 40k figures? Also did multiverse start off slowly because of the growing pains of making multiple poa figures?
>>11450768lmao what the fuck is that
>>11449782Apparently, this is Metamorpho's son, kidnapped to force his cooperation in some plot against Superman.
>>11451045>So did multiverse start around the time that mcfarlane started up the wh 40k figures?Yes, both 2020, although multiverse has a lot more 2020 releases than WH40k.
>Also did multiverse start off slowly because of the growing pains of making multiple poa figures? There were definitely less releases in 2020 than in 2021 and 2022. It took a bit for them to start putting out the quantities they did later. It may be it took them awhile to get enough sculptors and designers to handle the full workload (I assume a large proportion would be contract given the way the industry works now but that still takes time to get the work assigned and coordinated).
>>11451194Look at it in this highly dynamic pose that really shows it coming to life. But hey at least whoever made it knew how to cut knee joints, unlike most of the later figures produced like that year one batman everyone is clamoring over with the deep triangular cuts to make the knees.

This was the Walmart Supergirl listing they had on their site with no pictures for $30 straight from China straight to the trashcan.”( so don’t do it. It’s a trick!”
>>11451527Holy shit that is crazy. They even tried to emulate the joints of the mcfarlane. It's like they knew this figure would be in short supply and wanted to take advantage of that.
Is it normal to care whether there is a black line around the Superman S symbol on a figure or not?
>>11451302>knew how to cut knee jointsThey weren't edgy enough for todd, so he had them replaced.
>>11451560Yes but that isn’t the problem the problem is there’s no depth which you would get with a sculpted “S”.
>>11450938100%. It's also the best Superman figure in general when it comes to this line. Every other one has some sort of stupid flaw or inaccuracy
So lads, either I'm being scammed big time or I finally had a bit of luck. I put up an ad looking for the Wonder Woman Collector Edition figure and have been waiting for quite a while for someone to hit me up. Been lowballing the price because I don't see a point in paying more than retail for the figure.
This morning, some woman texted me and was fine with me paying 35 Eurobucks (shipping included) for a mint in card Wondy. Tried bypassing Paypal because she broke up with her husband but she managed to give me a Paypal when I insisted on it. So basically I'm on the safe side and now just waiting to get the figure.
If it really is a scam, then it's the most pointless one I've stumbled upon so far because I've never seen a scammer accept someone not using the friends function. In case it's all legit, maybe I've just had the luck of being contacted by an angry ex-wife/gf. Wish me luck everyone!
>>11451772Cheap enough. Roll the dice.
>>11451527Crazy. I wouldn't have been able to tell the difference just by looking at the photo.
>>11451527Is it even articulated? Do you happen to remeber the seller? Ive had good orders via walmart but this year theyve been cancelling alot of my orders and pre orders. Ive tried three times with a power girl, and got cancelled each time.
>>11451302yeah I dunno man
the early days of this line, with those hideous Timm figures and all that joker Batman shit was a turnoff for me, and I’m a huge nerd
they’ve done better lately but of course it’s too little too late
>>11452156>claims to be a huge nerd>doesn't own toysSuch is the pathetic state of Dc General.
I own toys, I just didn’t like those toys enough to buy them
>>11451527Better paint apps than most McFarlane figures though
>>11450143>>11450574>chimneyYep, I immediately thought of every time Harry Potter tried to go through floo (fireplace travel) in those movies and ended up lost and covered in soot. I saw it in hand, today, at one of the large Targets in my area, after we were done watching Final Reckoning. They also had the Ultraman (looks decent but I'm sure it will peg warm and will end up remaindered and if it doesn't, no loss), the Metamorpho, the Super Powers Fortress (not worth $35 no matter how much of a supes fan you might be), and the T-Craft (totally not worth $26, especially since it's so fucking small and can barely fit on figure, which based on two video reviews, doesn't even properly sit in there. They had the Luthor Lab, which I hope to find remaindered at a Ross or similar eventually since all I want is the Krypto, and a shit load of the standard Coronswets, both McFarts and SM, and a few of the Justice Gang Spin Masters.
They also had the New 52 Superbro, which I did buy, for $23, for the head sculpt. I almost bought two but I suspect it will also be easy to find like the t-shirt Conner Kent, so why pay full price for two today. I also picked up the Hal Superfriends Retro figure for $19 from the GameStop in the same mall, they had plenty of the batwank, Sinestro at various GS but not the Lex or this Hal. I'll probably keep him in card until I get a few more, and especially to see if Todd is going to issue the promised rest, because if he doesn't, it's not worth having a few (2-4 of these). Only movie Superpowers seen in the wild so far is the Metamorpho and plenty of those everywhere.
I felt more productive and better psychologically for buying myself some new Converse and two other pairs of casual shoes, than for the two hours plus and three store's (I also hit the Best Buy) worth of time and energy I wasted shopping for DC McFarts. My friend was annoyed they had no Fantastic Four figures for sale so he abandoned me pretty early on!
So, dc general is dead once the spazz retards are gone? I know the toys are hard to source, or atleast the desirable ones, but this has nose dived when compared to the last two or three previous threads. Is everyone banned?

>>11453283None of the good new releases are able to be acquired so thereisnot much pointin discussing it.. I have basically just given up on the line
>>11453292>we want the jeet audience This unironically looks like Americanized bollywood trash. It also feels unearned just like the Batman. Its like a second or third movie that we’re just being dropped into. If they want to start you off in an established world that universe needs to begin with a seasoned justice league film and branch out into solos from their. How god damn hard is it to just use something like the animated dcu as a roadmap. Gunns ego and warners incompetence strikes again.
#supershit
>>11453751>that we’re just being dropped into.That's a good thing
>>11453751Nah fuck that i'm tired of cinematic universe slop. Let them stand on their own, we don't need years of buildup and 500 shitty TV shows to bridge the gaps between the one movie people will actually see every 5 or so years.
>>11453762>start watching a movie after the first 40 minutes >aren’t you so emotionally invested in this story and it’s charactersLike I said the only correct way to do that is starting with a justice league movie where they’ve all been active and working together for years. Have an audience insert joining the team. Then you branch out into their established worlds. This way you know the main character before being dropped in the middle of a story.
>>11453766I’m not pitching the Marvel style slow burn with 20 movies and streaming shows. I’m saying start with a strong Justice League movie where the team already exists no origin stories, no setup drag. Then you branch out into solo films that are self contained but enriched by that shared world. It’s efficient, clean, and avoids the bloated universe problem entirely.

It looks like a fun movie made for kids who'd like Power Rangers.
The real tragedy is that if it had come out like two or three years ago DCMV still would have been going strong enough for us to army build Luthorcorp goons and Fortress robots for $20 a pop but now you'll have to drive across three counties to find the one Walmart in your state that was sent a wave of $40 movie figures.
Anyone else here remember the Batman frenzy in the 90's and entire toy aisles dedicated to movie merch?

The movie looks like shit, and kids dont give a fuck about it.
Its not a movie made for kids, its a movie made for the middle aged adults who have shitty taste and are brand loyalists and will see a Superman movie because they think of themselves as a Superman "fan", those guys have kids and they will drag their kids to the movie, the kid doesnt give a shit about Superman but has been actively influenced by their father to like Superman.
The cope that it looks goofy, with awful CGI because its meant to be "for kids" is just evidence that everyone knows it looks terrible.
>>11454391It’s made for Indians
>>11454259Snobby faggots buy mafex
>>11454391From what I've heard/read it'll keep the ADHD adults' attention.
Maybe Super-dog will die along with the servant robots and we'll get a sad moment before Superman goes rage mode and beats up Lex's goons.
The crowd will go wild and the mouth-breathers will spill their popcorn and rant about it on their podcast when they get home.

>>11455346No, they'll look awful. Compare the recent Supergirl and Power Girl releases to their females from Mattel's flagship collector's line Masterverse. They're the highest quality figures Mattel is capable of making and their paint apps are garbage, the sculpted detail is soft and minimal, the proportions are disgusting, the color choices are gaudy and infantile, everything about them is trash. Not just compared to McFarlanes, which have their own issues, but objectively, by every metric imaginable they are horrible figures. And for some unholy reason they copy and paste these awful fucking bucks for every figure in their line, making the minimum effort necessary to differentiate characters.
This is their most important property they can do anything they want with and instead of pursuing any kind of innovation they've chosen the path of inbred creativity since the 1980's.
And that's exactly what DC/WB wants. They want something cheap and easily mass produced to compete with Marvel Legends in the toy aisle, quality be damned.
If you aren't hoarding the McFarlanes you were on the fence about then you're fucked.
>>11455346You're honestly better off trying to collect McFarlane. They did a decent roster, some big gaps here and there but they covered more in 5 years than Mattel did in their first five, and given how there doens't seem to be a big collector push at Mattel like there was in the DCUC days I don't think it'll be any better.

>>11455363>And that's exactly what DC/WB wants. They want something cheap and easily mass produced to compete with Marvel Legends in the toy aisle, quality be damned. That's not what DC/WB wants. It's the opposite, hence revoking the license back in 2019.
What happened is that DISCOVERY bought WB/DC from ATT, and everyone at WB/DC who decided to strip the license from Mattel got fired, and Discovery needs money from buying WB/DC. Mattel has a ton of money and Discovery is willing to take that money for a quick influx of money.
So this is a case of DC/WB's owner not giving a shit about Mattel making cheap, easily mass produced products.

>>11456417Why would they have to? McFarlane won't be competing with them and the after market on McFarlane wired cape figures of any note will be unreasonable by then. It will either be Mattel DC or nothing. This is why licenses and IP exist: to fuck the customer.
Local comic shop put out a bunch of cases of Multiverse figures after an eternity of a dry spell: Batman (Western and Year One) James Gordon, Cyborg Superman, Bizarro, Armored/RotSM Hal Jordan, Jade, JLU Deadshot, and both classic and stealth Adam Strange.
Picked up Gordan and Cyborg Superman.
>>11456463Weird, Gordon was supposed to be Walmart exclusive

The last batch of mcfarlane dc figures will be completed in January. The supergirl movie wave will be the last dc figures mcfarlane produces. They will sit stateside up until a month and a half from release then will be distributed.
>>11456476Ultimately McFarlane chooses if they sell Gordon or YO Batman to only Walmart or someone else. When I hear "exclusive" I assume that means only them in the US

After the dc license is up Todd’s shit will only be at Walmart and EB games. It’s over.

>>11457032Sure, Todd still has contracts for other licenses but none of them have the same retail pull or volume as DC. Without that anchor line, his shelf space will shrink. Retailers don’t care about contracts if the product doesn’t move. Spawn and Marvel statues aren’t replacing Multiverse numbers at Target or Amazon, and you already see that happening. Walmart and EB Games will hold on, but the rest will scale back. You may have exclusives at target but you will not see a full product line of anything mcfarlane there anymore.

>>11457043Yeah, Todd still has some licenses, but let’s be real they’re not mass retail drivers. His Marvel stuff? Just collectible statues, not a Legends-style action figure line. TMNT? Also collector-tier, and NECA already dominates that space at Target. As for Transformers his Page Punchers crossover was supposed to be the big shot, and it flopped. No retailer is building full planograms around that. Without DC Multiverse, Todd’s footprint shrinks fast. I don’t understand bringing up those other huge franchises that Todd has nothing to do with.

>>11457559I imagine Valiant would also suffer from the same issue due to the fact that it's a somewhat niche IP.
