Looks like the elite series that started with the Dark Ages Doomslayer is gonna have other video game characters too. Fallout, Diablo, and most surprisingly, Persona.

McFarlane made the same quality figures in the year 2002 for 10 bucks. 60 is too much. And no I don't care about paint app costs.

Every time they do another series with an anime art style I am surprised, because they always seem so phoned in and done out of obligation. Only decent looking one I can think of was Stain from MHA, and it's more because the character already happened to look like a Mcfarlane design.

Here's a sassy little secret: the neck pegs for the Fallout power armor are the same as many Spawn, MK, DCMV figures. You can slap a Spawn or Batman head onto it and pretend they're in the future. Pretty cool right?!

That's because they are, if Todd could he would just sell Spawn and Batman figures but even he has to face the fact he needs more modern licenses to survive and kids today want anime figures so he'll make them in protest which is why they're so bad and filled with McFarlane-isms, he really doesn't care about collector's needs other than his own

Discovery + ATT buy out.

Shit load of people got fired at WB/DC, so everyone who remembers that Mattel wasn't allowed to have the license anymore no longer works at WB.

Plus, Discovery is in need of money AND is looking to sell WB. So for the short term, Mattel has a shitload of cash that they've been willing to burn ever since they lost the DC license and they want the DC license back.

Struggle? They are clearly putting their feelers out to find a sweet spot before diminishing returns on their pricing. It was never Todd's intent to stay cheap. Remember the successful Spawn figure Kickstarter predates most the current lines. He's been wondering if he could wring that much money out of average collectors for a while now.
The earlier DC figure that cost more just for a digital code no one cares about was another example of testing the waters.

Fans sure are getting destroyed in this modern toy market. The imports have gotten to the price where only major characters from a work can be made without too much risk, and so now we just get supplementary unarticulated statues of characters that would've been figures 5 years ago. This is a dark time. It only gets worse doesn't it?

It was mostly just chance back after the wave had been out for awhile and Amazon happened to drop him to $30 randomly. I'd say he isn't disappointing for $30. I wouldn't pay any more for him though.

Deluxe figures are rarely worth the upcharge any company puts on them, especially considering their articulation is usually worse.

This was kind of a 'show piece' for the Spawn line so they tried a bit harder than usual with him. Still, I have him posed with one hand on the shelf just in case rather than trusting just his legs though to avoid toppling.

I bought mine at full price and even then I felt I had spent my money well worth. I don't care all that much for Spawn personally but Violator makes a good generic demon monster thing. He's also pretty damn big and has some seriously dense plastic. You can legitimately hurt someone if you hurled it.

But yeah, if you can manage to get him cheaper, all the better. Top 5 easily of the modern Spawn line.

They didn't lose the license. They simply didn't bother to renew the license, hence no one bothering to make collector (7") Fortnite figures after McFarlane dropped it.
Jazwares MIGHT have lost the license, since Hasbro started making 6" Fortnite figures for kids, but who really knows, since Hasbro didn't go guns blazing with a hundred million Fortnite figures like a normal kids retail line does. So maybe Jazwares ditched the license and Hasbro picked it up, thinking making special/deluxe versions for a reduced audience would sell.

Either way, the Fortnite license wasn't worth it to anyone. I don't think Jazwares even makes new 1:18 Fortnite figures anymore either and are coasting on the license with just re-re-redecos to save money.

People don't realize Todd was one of the first to make anime figures (well, stactions) back in the late 90s, early 00s. He made some Akira, Trigun, GitS, SoulTaker, etc. stuff. That said, Todd is a different being now. He's basically just delegating everything as far as I can tell and isn't as involved as he used to be.
