We kind of do, since that’s the Matrix of Leadership's whole gimmick, with Prima being the only, unless you count Optimus, of the Thirteen to wield its power before passing it on to the next in line. I personally prefer it when the Thirteen exists just to explain why Transformers have the abilities they do. My personal headcanon is that Cybertronians are believed to be descended from two of the Thirteen and that’s what determines their abilities. Like the Constructicons are descended from Solus and Nexus, explaining their building skill and combining ability or Optimus is descended from Prima and Trion/Logos, explaining his leadership skill and logical genius.

Well, I think that's unnecessarily convoluted. These are super advanced sapient robots that can live for millions of years. At that point, what difference does it make if you're born from one magical robot or the other?
I don't hate Furman but he's a retard when it comes to lore and he always went for THE most absurd explanation for shit he could come up with; and later writers instead of bucking that trend, follow.
The G1 cartoon lore is, in my opinion, the best because of how easy it is to follow and how much originality it brings while being simple and kind of dumb.
The most glaring example of this is Megatron. G1 Megatron is unlike any villain seen in other places, a guy that was created to be the living vanguard of the Decepticons.
Post-IDW Megatron (Aligned, ONE, likely Cyberverse and Earthspark but I haven't watched either) is a cookie cutter villain, a run-off-the-mill fallen freedom fighter.
Another is the Dinobots. The G1 cartoon Dinobots are fun and uncomplicated. The G1 comics Dinobots are cooler but there's not crazy storyline to explain why they transform into dinosaurs, and they confirm cybertronians can scan whatever and transform into it
Post-IDW Dinobots can't decide what to make of them, but it's always some kind of science gone wrong cliche. You don't need that. Just say they were made to look like dinosaurs because dinosaurs are really strong.

G2 was the line that was going on when I first started getting into transformers as a kid. The decepticon auto rollers, cyberjets, and manta ray were some of the of my first transformers ever. Unfortunately I've only got dirtbag and roadblock left from the g2 days.

There's just not a ton of reason to talk about the old stuff and unlike old movies or games you can't just pirate that stuff and discuss it. It can be a little harder to get your hands on a lot of the older stuff if you even know what to look for in the first place.

At the very least I just wish people would post more pictures of their own transformers in these threads regardless of whether they're new or old.
