This is generally true for movies that bomb or the product didn't move at all since it was released.

Most movie toylines that bomb usually take a month for them to actually get clearanced. So stuff like Blue Beetle and Lightyear were full price for a while after the movie came out. It's why i never managed to get that amazing armadilo for Lightyear. I saw the movie bombing and i said to myself I wouldnt buy it until it went on clearance.
However, most people saw how great a toy it was and sold out before it could be clearanced off like the rest of the Lightyear junk. So you could only get it from third party vendors for either full price or scalper prices on ebay.

Do note what i said was past tense. So from 1990s til right before COVID was was what iwas referring to. Too many movie are bombing now, even Marvel-shit. And ~2013 is when sales became less frequent. So what you say kinda seems true, but it does take a while for a clearance to happen. Only major shits like the all female Ghostbusters toylline gets clearanced before the movie even comes out.

Mcfarlane really does suck shit; it's not that cyborg superman is a cyborg wearing a ripped up Superman costume, its that while in his costume cybernetic parts were grafted onto his body, over/on top of his tights.
But Todd has to change the design up, and have it be that its a torn costume, how fucking lame and unimaginative.

Way more accurate, both eradicators are not great but todd's version has way too big of a chin, and i think his visor is solid with no transparency. Both made the S too small though.
Todd's Steel has that odd marble coloring, and i think it is claimed to be the Reign version of steel but he has the more current day S shield. But if it isnt the Reign version i retract the comment about the S.
Cyborg Superman in Todd's version has a ripped costume, that is not how his design works.
I havent seen Todd's Reign Superboy well enough to see what it did wrong but at a glance it might be the only figure that is close to its comic counterpart.

It's still rather baffling that they'd choose to model the figure after his very first appearance over the more standard look, especially when it requires more tooling than necessary. Chalk it up to McFarlane's typical choice of going for a unique piece over what most fans would actually want.

I'm also frustrated over the lack of split S-shield. It's such a simple yet unique touch, and not even Mafex with their attention to detail would tackle it. Is a black paint app that difficult?
