Why it's 2025 and we still don't have a decent zombie action figures?
The main problem is that every time zombie figue is either

1) cartoony (blue skin for example) or stylized
2) shitty (those old mcfarlane ones or kickstarter ones)
3) non articulated

I feel like we will never have a good quality zombie figure unless some ultra known company will suddenly make one because there will be a zombie in a famous movie or something like that.

Also why the hell Neca never made a zombie seriens? Neca making famous zombies from movies is like N1 free money.

Paint costs. That's why. Almost all applications on figures these days are done with tampo printing or UV inkjet printing. Getting a detailed dirty, grimy or bloody paint job on a Zombie like the one in OP will require a ton of hand painting which is going to drive up the cost of the figure a ton.

McFarlane botched the zombies in their TWD line from the jump. Bicycle Girl's unnecessary action figure slaved her to a base, and after her the only memorable zombies they bothered to do were the riot gear ones.

The requirement for all the hand painted applications is probably a big factor in why there are so few zombie figs. To get things to look realistic and dirty they'd need many layers of paint on each part.

What?
literally no
Neca does shit ton of paint (skin/etc) that can be pretty much done in a zombie figure
PS:
Pic is one of the better zombies and it's older than 15 years
also comes with a zombie dog which also can be used for army building

I agree with the other guy above. If that's all you want, just get custom zombie heads and hands for any of the civilian clothed figures that almost every company makes. To me, that's not a Zombie. When I think Zombie, I think Walking Dead with grotesque looking corpses with decaying bits all over.

There are shit ton of horror figures on this market and it's not a big deal to make a zombie-it wont consume more paint than any other bloody monster.

Again, does that look anything like OP's pic? No. Those parts are all a solid color with ONE other color painted on top of them. Not various shades of dirt, grim, blood, etc like I'd expect from a zombie. But it you would be happy with cartoony looking non-realistic figures like that with minimal paint, then sure, there's an option for you.

There's also a TV creepshow, basically the same figure but different face. Both have additional faces that are quite different looking (one more skeletal).
Not much variation but I was thinking of buying like 3, and making a real slime zombie graveyard uprising kind of thing. Underneath they look very skeletal though.

Are we simply ignoring the fact that NECA figures have jumped in price for years now. So it's not like their stuff have been staying cheap either. Also I'd hardly call Deadites zombies when they're demonically possessed people with very little indicators of a typical shambling zombie.

Nobody will. People won't want a bunch of the same sculpts with minor differences if they're buying a horde of zombies. It would be too cost prohibitive to do many different sculpts to cover male and female, different clothes, different ages, etc.

No. Those sculpts are too soft to be scaled up. Their stuff is pretty pricey too due to the small runs. That's the main issue with 6" Zombies I think. To do them well, a company would have to charge like $50+ per figure and who the hell can build a horde when they cost that much?

NECA's Creepshow figure is wonderful with incredible detail for a character that was only onscreen for less than a minute while I assume they used behind the scene's photos for further reference.

This is why I've been hoping that they'd announce that they're putting out Tarman from Return of the Living Dead for this years 40th anniversary as well as pre-zombie Trash.

Super7 put out copies of both awhile ago, along with the poster zombies (I hate how people refer to them as Trash and Suicide when that's not who they are) and they're beautiful with an amazing amount of detail for such small figures.

As for the poster zombies, I got the two pack and they're great but if I had one complaint it's that the ribcage of "Suicide" is very low detail but no matter as they make a fine addition to my collection while picrel is about 50% of the stuff I have related to ROTLD but can't be bothered to pull the rest out of storage!!!FACT!!!
