>>11467402As someone who doesn't sell his stuff, I think it's weird to find out how much my stuff is worth. And even weirder, i feel bad when i see the value going down.
I bought a couple of GI Joes sets for cheap a few years ago. Like $30 for something that originally went for $22. The non-army builder figure from this set would go for $40, and since i bought two of these sets, well shit, now i have 3 of a unique character (already owned one before).
IF i sold my doubles off, i'd make a decent profit. But i don't like selling my shit and now the figure goes for $20. Fake sad.
GI Joes have lost a lot of their value over the years. Even the newer 1:12 figures that used to go for 2-3x now only go for retail price, but new shit is always speculator bubbles.
Anyway, since fads come and go, some of my shit actually has devalued quite a bit. So my Epoch Deku Link used to command $400-500 loose on eBay. Nowadays he only goes for ~$200. I have McFarlane Walking Dead building sets that used to go for a hundred bucks, but now they only go for $30.
In the future, who knows if anyone will even care about this junk. Like Elvis paintings, vintage china, and baseball cards, we might be holding onto literal trash that the next generation has little regard for. Sucks for resellers or people who think they have a retirement fund, but for collectors like me who genuinely enjoy and want to keep their collectino forever? The value of my collection is only an issue for whoever gets it after i die.
