Some fun reveals and announcements over the last couple of weeks. SDCC exclusives went up and were pretty easy to get it seems. SDCC proper is July 24th-27th.

NECA did announce they're doing Jason from this new "Universe" that's been put together. May end up being the first Jason that isn't from a movie? Time will tell.

ANNOUNCEMENT!!

Ben Cooper Costume Kids Collection - Series 8

The next series in the Ben Cooper Costume Kids Collection is here, featuring a fresh lineup of trick-or-treaters inspired by iconic ‘80s pop culture! These fully poseable 6-inch figures are based on the licensed kids’ costumes from one of the largest Halloween costume manufacturers from the 1950s–‘80s. Series 8 includes faithful recreations of original costumes—as well as an original NECA design—showcasing the classic characters Garfield, ALF, Pee-wee Herman, and Predator. Each costumed action figure wears a mask and soft goods clothing replicating the signature vinyl look of the vintage costumes and includes a trick-or-treat bag accessory. Every figure is sold separately and packaged in a numbered, retro-style window box that pays homage to the classic costume packaging.

EST. Shipping: Q4 2025!

That’s a lot of movies/shows. Their writers assume that the vast majority of the U.S. is urban/suburban CA or NY where all law-abiding citizens don’t have any weapons beyond a baseball bat or kitchen knife, and only criminals, police, military, and a few hillbillies have all the guns.

The 28 Days/Weeks/Years Later films, Shawn of the Dead, etc work because it’s the britbongs. Same for any horror film in countries where civilian-ownership of firearms is either highly restricted or just non-existent.

Not to mention a lot of modern American horror hinges on the characters being retarded or the bad guy bending the laws of physic, being invincible, or changing their own limits. The movie is less about defeating the horror and more about the death scenes

It's another likeness they have to secure (which costs money). We WILL get a Part 6 Tommy Jarvis figure one day, I can say that for certain. The actor is apparently very easy to work with and has even done little fan films, and it seems like the easiest figure to make, using tooling from pre-existing figures (it's just a guy in jeans and a jacket).

Yes! So the set allows you to make two complete dog things, or allowing you to do certain looks using parts from one over the other. You get a lot, and it's a bit harrowing putting it all together.

You will definitely want to have a hair dryer handy to heat up the ports to plug in some of the tentacles and bits. Small barbell joints that can be frustrating to just jam in there otherwise.

The only other thing is it's unclear in the instructions how to plug in the giant two arm chunk. There's a vestigial stumpy leg that you unplug and then plug into the arm chunk when you have it attached to the body. If you're going for that look.

Really? More options is always better. Their Pumpkinhead is amazing. It seemed like Syndicate was trying to do horror stuff NECA hasn’t done and when their Pumpkinhead came out it scared NECA into revealing their Howling figure to try to snuff out the competition. You gotta think of the small fish sometimes. I mean look at Jada, they started out small and are now huge because of solid releases. That could be Syndicate if NECA wasn’t trying to ruin them.

BBTS have Goliath, Hudson, Brooklyn and Thailog for below $35 but they occasionally have flash sales where they are even cheaper, and I regularly see all of them go for less on eBay thanks to the secondary market being flooded with them from the Neca blind box sales, especially Goliath and Thailog who go for peanuts.

>I do not care for Terrifier whatsoever.

For me they lack any sleazy lurid charm of old school gorefests like Blood Feast or bare minimum sense of suspense like Maniac.

I'm not going to claim that Directors made those movies in the past without the intent of making a buck with shockschlock but there's something incredibly cynical about this era of torture porn that comes off as mean spirited while never being able to pull off any mood or atmosphere to elevate the material and why they're soo forgettable.

The Terrifier films are a perfect example as their entire marketing campaign revolves around telling people how much gore there is while also trying to make Art The Clown a new Horror Icon (TM) when he's a shit character with a terrible design.

Freddy, Jason, Michael, Chucky, Pinhead, Leatherface, Tallman etc.. weren't created with the intent of becoming Horror icons, they just did naturally due to their designs, lore and quality of their films over time.

Besides, if I want to watch gore I can go to watchpeopledie, seegore, kaotic, gorecenter where you can see all of the wonderful things humanity is capable of doing to each other and able to happen to them.

This is why it's fucking laughable that there's any sort of rating system still in effect for feature films.

Now I'm not against labels explaining what type of movie a person is going to see but censorship when any child with a cellphone can watch snuff videos or tv shows like The Boys where they have a man shrink and crawl into the urethra of another man, sneeze and cause him to explode the other man from within, is pointless.

Whatever, if you enjoy modern Horror like Terrifier, good for you, but it just does nothing for me!!!FACT!!!

I'm the poster you responded to. It's hard to tell, usually if you warm the figures up first, pose them super careful, get them how you want and never touch them again then chances are you'll be fine. NECA have great sculpts and most of the time their paint is really solid (try to check it out in person first if you can though), but sometimes you're just shit out of luck, the whole Pacific Rim line they did was riddled with breakages, a lot of their early Predator figures had really bad paint and a lot of breaks, so check with reviews and /toy/ first so you know how careful you need to be.
If you're willing to spend the money on the figure and are happy with it staying in the one pose for the rest of it's life on a shelf, then you should be okay.
