>>11479851frames are so lame
i'm honestly happy that i wont be spending money on new combiners because this is just "some guy + some little guys stick to his limbs but he can walk around on his own without them"
The whole point of combiner is that every part is important.
Combiner can't walk/punch if one of transformers didn't transform.
Combiner being just fine of its own and using other "bros" just as "attachements" is fucking stupid as hell
Scooter could easily defeat any Transformer or combiner. This little bitch is more powerful than (you) could ever understand.
>>11479862>sillicone tittiesBusou shinki is back
>>11479863Hound has the same powers, so he could force a draw
>>11479868Hound and Mirage's powers are nowhere near as bullshit as Scooter's. He is nowhere and everywhere. You think you cornered the fucker? Gone. He projected himself as a whole hallway and you missed it. He can be anyone he wants with a thought. Cy-kill acting strange lately? That's because it's actually god damn Scooter pulling a fast one on those faggot Renagades.
He is my hero and now yours.
>>11479886>clown suit transformerkek
what a pedo
>>11479888>projectionIronic, considering his powers.
It's funny to me that these autists would be fine with frames if Hasbro sculpted a smilie face on it somewhere and put an extra name on the box
>It's not kibble it's the new team member Lim-Bar!
>>11479830 (OP)>bootleg parts Not a real combiner. THIS is what a real combiner looks like.
>>11479830 (OP)>So butthurt he needs to use this as the OPProof you retards can't deal with different opinions and have zero arguments to defend your shit toys other than "muh real combiner".
>>11479941>Clown shoes>Has to cheat and use Silverbolt's elbow joint
>>11479830 (OP)Frameslop is a crutch, liked by neither the fans NOR the designers. Indeed, whenever they get the budget to give a combiner the royal treatment (86 Devastator, Liokaiser), they dispense with the frameslop.
>>11480025anon this is not some imagined boogeyman group
this is our personal boogeyman, a troll who does this constantly. he picked this form this time because it got your goat.
>>11480039Those have another guy to work with
>>11479830 (OP)If only the Swindle in that set wasn't an awful Rook retool.
>>11479830 (OP)>FP shotgunsBased. That set was cool.
>>11479830 (OP)>upgrade kits in the OPthe jokes write themselves
>>11480053pistol-grip, over-under shotguns, be they double barrel or single with a shell magazine, are the coolest and most overlooked thing.
when I did something with a Doomguy-homage, I had to give him one of those (with a massive bowie knife bayonet for good measure, so the entire gun could be wielded like an axe)
>>11480056one troll makes every thread, so
How come nobody mentions how MMC can do solid combiners without frameslop?
>"they have infinite budget and can add all the pieces they want"
Right. Because frames only have three molded pieces total.
Hasbro is simply choosing to copy the worst trends in Third Party figures because it's easier and has a tested market.
I was planning to get their new Onslaught after seeing how Motormaster turned out, as only Motormaster and Onslaught have an excuse to use frames, but their Silverbolt is embarrassing. I might not even get Motormaster now.
>>11480067Does MMC have to make toys to satisfy child safety regulations?
>>11480075I don't see their combiners breaking anytime soon, and making them lighter should help with stability.
>>11480075With all of the lawlessness in this country, why does anybody think toy safety regulations have any weight?
>>11479860Every part IS important. Superion without the limb guys attached is not Superion, it's Silverbolt mid-transformation. Putting ketchup between two buns doesn't make a burger just because you can put the buns together to technically make a sandwhich, you need the patty and rest of the toppings to make the burger complete.
>>11480079it's lawless in the sense that if you're not white, law enforcement will not show up to stop your crimes, yeah.
it's not lawless in the sense that if you step one hair over something a lawyer could bust you for, such as toy safety, you get your entire fucking life destroyed. these companies have never been more heavily regulated than they are now, they don't have an inch of space to do anything except cheap out.
>>11480083NTA but I'm checking the MMC Bruticus's transformation again and the biggest issue is Onslaught's legs transforming into Bruticus's thighs, which isn't even a big deal, just a change of axis through locking the knees into an L-shape.
Everything else can be done under a Hasbro budget but I'm sure the issue Hasbro would have with replicating it wouldn't be budget so much as accomplishing the shitty fat lanklet proportions of the cartoon models because tooners gotta toon and it's tooners all the way down in their engineering team.

>>11480095oh I wasn't supporting the assertion that this 3P toy violates US toy safety regulations. I'm just saying those regulations exist.
Anyone trying to push the idea that we're lawless, or certain people can do whatever they want, is hoping it becomes the case, because he plans to use that to his advantage.
>combiners
I don't get it. I feel like no matter what, if you want decent articulation you're sacrificing something.
Frames make it easy to have that but obviously lose their identity and look chunkier, plus do weird shit like breaking the guys in half like on Menasor.
Otherwise you have the combiner wars look that, while more reliant on letting each limb be the entire limb, you get the awkward double joints and I'm sure other issues.
I don't see a solution unless you start adding members these teams to break up the joints.
>>11480095>>11480101No, scratch that, EVERYTHING Assaultus does, a Hasbro Bruticus could do. Even the way the hands are turned into shoulders is 80 percent just CW/UW Bruticus shoulder transformation.
>Anyone trying to push the idea that we're lawless, or certain people can do whatever they want, is hoping it becomes the case, because he plans to use that to his advantage. You kind of could last administration. If I was a worse person, I would have gone to a West Coast city to steal shit and resell it for about two to three years and then come back a nouveau rich or with enough money to open a small business in my shithole country.
I'm getting a good laugh at the nonnef discussion on other sites. He finally revealed the full kit for Legacy Bludgeon after two years, and drip feeding bits of it for months, and one guy gets mad over the whole deal, while the rest of the thread act like the biggest bootlickers alive. At least it's mildly passable, his Paddles kit also took forever and looks like shit.
>>11480106Genuinely wanted it but it's so hard to find like any of his kits
He's so exclusive and picky who get's them
Sludge was literally $20-30 for a long time cause he shelfwarmed hard
>>11480106>Legacy BludgeonWith how much polish you need for that turd you might as well pour all the polish into a mold and make a new Bludgeon.
But, hey, he's making full toys now.
>>11480109it's funny how often robosaurs want to do a paddle variant of an existing body, but they still have the upper limb go straight down and then the paddles splay out, so it ends up looking more like a seal than a plesiosaur or sea turtle or mosasaur or whatever they're doing.
i can name two examples in zoids alone, totally unrelated, one of which is a bootleg.
>>11480110Lmao isnt that what DNA did?
>>11480067>>11480075>>11480095MMC Bruticus is really great but mad hard to find
But I don't think it's really comparable
Hasbro/Takara TRIED something with the MPG Trains and they're a colossal disaster and scam
I know this will ping and send the egofag into a fit but it's just genuinely an awful combiner
DNA and others made a kit for it and even then people still passed in favor of the Moon Studios one who bodies it entirely at every imaginable way while being CHEAPER somehow
>>11480113Susanoo? That one was also a turd but it at least looked really cool.
I regret not buying it when I could.
>>11480116I really feel like the MPG trains were designed to be individual figures first and the combination was tacked on at the last minute.
I don't think the Moon Studios Raiden is using some Triad black magic, just designed with a little foresight.
>>11480116The trains were made to be scale train models first and everything else was second fiddle. I think they scale with HO railroads or whatever the size the japs use is.
>>11480110Funny thing is, this kit was coming out with the inner Bludgeon robot. Not one mention in months about it and he still hasn't released those targetmasters he brought up all the way back when Legacy started, he takes so long to release anything and he can just cancel a kit without saying a word, so you can't buy a figure early or you could get burned.
>>11480129I mean, up to Legacy Nonnef kits were a nice addition to have but when you require a kit to fix an already expensive figure, why not skip it?
Bludgeon is fucked for at least 10 more years so I'll spend the time I would have dedicated to the failed Legacy Bludgeon on fixing ROTF Bludgeon.
>inb4 that guy coping with his Legacy Bludgeon doing ninja posesI don't care. It looks nothing like Bludgeon on top of looking like shit.
>>11480144I agree. I still got the Stormbringer version, but that mold doesn't work for Bludgeon. You might as well wait for a new one.
I fucking hate Nemesis Prime. Black repaints in general fucking suck, the only exception being that black repaint of gun Megatron.
>>11480160>Skywarp has been deployed to your location
>>11480160i only dislike when they overuse teal inappropriately
a little minty accents on a black thing are neat, but you definitely don't want to mix him all up teal, purple, and red accents all with silver and black...
>>11480106C16? Iโm pretty sure heโs in these threads and is the one seething about people shitting on frameslop.
>>11480160>Black repaints in general fucking suckI can't believe I have to share a Norwegian bicycling board with a troglodyte like this
>>11480196i choose to believe it's a troll
>>11480199Who made you the god of combiners?
>>11480199True. If they need extra parts, no matter if it's a frame or hands and feet, they're shit.
Now THIS, THIS is what a peak combiner looks like.
>>11480214>components don't have robot modesFake combiner
>>11480214That doesn't look like Squawkbox
>>11480214Here's another REAL combiner. Scrambleshitties shake in their extra kibble boots at his mere presence.
>>11480214I'm all for hands and feet being their own guys, just give them other modes. I want to see HANDCRABS everywhere. so many handcrabs.
maybe even a spider formed from both hands and both feet.
>>11480216that kind, sadly, works much better most of the time.
>>11480218>can have a complete combiner without the middle guy Fake combiner
>>11480222But I thought every separate robot being indispensable in the combination is what made them a REAL I SWEAR TO GOD combiner?
>>11480220>I'm all for hands and feet being their own guysHands and feet are for losers, a real combiner doesn't need those.
>>11480222Not everyone needs to be a freak of nature without a stomach like you, anon.
Remember when transformers fans were insistent on using the word gestalt?
Alpha Trion remembers
>>11480232I also do, back when I got fully into the fandom 20 years ago everyone used gestalt.
>>11480232I also do, back when I got fully into the fandom 25 years ago everyone used gestalt.
>No frame
>Hands and feet are also Transformers, not accessories
>Each member is necessary for the combined mode
You may not like it, but Bayverse Devastator is what all combiners should strive for. Designers should get more creative with combiner physiques, not every one of them has to be 'giant humanoid dude'. More animalistic, abstract shapes allow for more creative engineering. That, or just give every combiner team four new members to form the hands and feet. Heck, maybe five so one of them is relegated to crotch duty.
>>11480232Some anon used it in the last thread and I audibly laughed because I haven't seen anyone use gestalt in a long time. Yeah I remember, toys are serious business for serious collectors.
>>11480236>Missing the testiclesInnacurate and incomplete.
>>11480236For new designs sure, but there's a limit of what you can do when you're trying to make a new toy of an existing design.
>>11480237I saw a guy on a forum try to use that quad-lateral-whatever term the Marvel Comics made up. Whether it was to try and show off "i know more trivia" nerdness or because they're desperately trying to remind people of ANYTHING from the increasingly irrelevant Marvel Comics, I couldn't tell.
>>11480238>wrecking balls integrate into Hightower on the Devil Savior versionTruly the best designed combiner
Sorry fellas, you gotta compromise somewhere when THIS is what you're working with.
Frames for visual aesthetics and stability
Limbformers for original toy accuracy and play value
You can't expect one 20-30 dollar toy to be a robot, vehicle, and a sturdy, fully-articulated limb with hands/feet.
If you want that, there's a certain more expensive alternative you'll have to try.
>>11480247Just...make a new superion design
>>11480247>You can't expect one 20-30 dollar toy to be a robot, vehicle, and a sturdy, fully-articulated limb with hands/feet.I can because Combiner Wars did that up to a 80 percent of success. Every figure was closer to ideal than Legacy frameslop.
Speaking of combining planes, my Granbird just shipped
Why can't I find him on his own for less than the cost of the original box set? I don't fuckin' WANT Goldbug or those Predacons, I just want to fill out my Deluxe Insecticon roster. I shouldn't have to shell out $200 for that.
>>11480121>>11480124Yea and I think they accomplish that well. They're great looking Trains themselves and the little Railroad bit they come with
but as a Transformer the Alt Mode feels like a complete after thought and then somebody snapped awake in the design and was like "Wait don't these combine?" and the rest of the team had a "fuck" moment
It's a total joke
>>11480119I heard a lot that he actually wasn't that bad but for some reason they made the feet Die Cast then painted them
So they horribly chip like crazy
>>11480160I'm picky. I mostly like Nemesis Prime when he has the turquoise/Mint stripes
>>11480227Energon Superion supremacy
Sad the hand/feet/head kit is impossible to find
>>11480266Because the Deluxe Insecticons are being completed for the first time in 40 years.
>>11480236>>11480238>>11480243It truly is the best we ever got
>>11480267>I heard a lot that he actually wasn't that badFrom the reviews I found at the time it was pretty floppy all around.
>>11480249They already did, during Combiner Wars.
>>11480251>I can because Combiner Wars did that up to a 80 percent of successThat's the thing though, not everybody thinks of it as such a huge success because people give importance to different things. I didn't buy a single CW toy because I disliked the individual robots aesthetics, the combiner mode proportions, the individual robot arms showing, and the lack of stability when posing. Different people have different opinions. You already had Combiner Wars, and now people who doesn't mind the frames if the means having more solid toys can enjoy those.
>>11480232i like 'gestalt'. always have. would never INSIST on it, though.
>>11480236always loved this guy, though he hasn't gotten a toy yet that does him justice..
>>11480253fuckin rad.. so gundamy yet so thick.
>>11480277wait now which version is this?. the posture around the chest is kinda weird, but...
>>11480291It's the Devil Savior version. Most of the bots have touched up new alt/robot modes and are upscaled from Voyager+
Quite good for a unique take on it
>>11480286No, I don't want you to enjoy those and I know I don't have to do anything about it because you won't actually enjoy Superion with plane tumors on their calves.
Can Limbsloppers and Framesloppers truly come together?
Can they work together for the betterment of an actual combiner that doesn't feel awful?
Will we finally be rid of Accessories stuffed into awful tissue paper mummies and tucked in corners of boxes?
WILL WE BE FREE OF PLASTIC FUCKING BANDS THAT HOLD FIGURES IN THE INSERTS?
FIND OUT
NEXT TIME
>>11480300>No, I don't want you to enjoy thoseSpoken like a true manchild.
>and I know I don't have to do anything about it because you won't actually enjoy Superion with plane tumors on their calves.I transformed Legacy Menasor many times to count and enjoyed it every single time. I'm sure the same will happen with Superion.
>>11480293Didn't they release this set for dirt cheap recently? I was kinda tempted by it
>>11480304>Can Limbsloppers and Framesloppers truly come together? No they can't, the combining methods they use are incompatible after all!
>>11480293so it's a partially-retooled upscaled KO? fascinating.
>>11480304having finally, after decades of building model kits, gotten myself a pair of nippers (i used to just use my teeth), I no longer fear those plastic bands. i can snippen them. still sucks on more soft-plastic action figures though.
>>11480306I'm pretty sure it's got at least one KO if that floats your boat
>>11480304What's the stance on Omega Prime? Ultra Magnus does quite a bit of transforming, but ultimately just bolts to Optimus
>>11480266How much would you be willing to pay? Be honest. Max price of you could have him.
>>11480251>Recolor Wars>Handfeet Wars>Floppy knee/elbow Wars>Unposeable Wars>The absolute state of CW Long Haul... Wars.>Up to 80 percent successfulBecause when it wasn't 80 percent successful it was much, much lower.
>>11480286I get what you mean honestly
But I think sacrificing the Combiner Mode to a point that it's fucking $80+ Just a Skeleton Frame is ugly and soulless
Let alone a Combined mode where I can entirely remove 2 members and nothing changes almost
I'm just not a fan of it and I feel like it's not a real Combiner
It's more "One Guy get's powered up by 4 others"
Because he already makes up %80-90 of a Combiner
>>11480346Yeah, it's Silverbolt's Super Mode!
>>11480316I'd say this is two people who combine to form a powered up Version of the Main Guy
I wouldn't call it a Combiner, more so an Upgraded Optimus
Same with Armade Jetfire/Optimus and Energon Optimus/Wing Saber/Omega Supreme and others
>>11480324I'm thinking between $40-70? Which is more than fair considering he's roughly worth $32.50, going off the set's MSRP.
>>11480304Can't we all just get along?
>>11480346I guess it also helps that I own a shitton of transforming robots (mostly Transformers, but also many others) so I'm pretty open minded to different ways to combine these things and the frames are something completely different to the toys I already have, and they're are pretty fun to mess with thanks to being solid and poseable.
I get why people don't like them, but the amount of hate and anger is just ridiculous. They're just toys after all.
>>11480346I guess it also helps that I own a shitton of transforming(combining robots (mostly Transformers, but also many others) so I'm pretty open minded to different ways to combine these things and the frames bring something completely different to the table than the toys I already have, and are also pretty fun to mess with thanks to being solid and poseable.

All this talk about Combiners and it's a fucking shame we'll never get Energon Optimus Prime in a long fucking time since they're so allergic to the series.
>>11480380the core optimus had really huge hips as I recall, but otherwise yeah this was a top notch design, and drones should come back as a thing for combiners.. though I'm more into beast guys, and the only way I can see that working is if the altmode is a school of fish or a queen bee and her four drones.... something like that. Beast dudes just don't really work quite that way do they.. you can't just be carrying more inanimate drone animals on your body and expect it to look right. maybe with transmetals.

๐
>>11480382>the core optimus had really huge hips as I recallIt has way more problem's than that, he was a fat fuck all around. The show managed to stylize the design a bit and they can try doing that for the new toy, but it will still a cube with arms and legs and one of the laziest transformations of an Optimus toy ever.
Having said that, I would still be interesed in one if they manage to make it look cooler.
>>11480382The soundbox on the original toy is what hurts it for me. Because that shit basically made his hips wide and his belly look pregnant, not to mention his back as well. I would really like a new one but I don't know how they will handle him. I got the original toy out and I found out in Super Mode he stands as tall as Commander Magmatron and SS86 Ultra Magnus. So him at that size would be preferable and accurate somewhat but that plus the trailer is definitely going to require Titan budget. No way can Hasbro remake the old toy in the same size and all under the Commander budget.

>>11480386oh yeah that was it. he looks like Truckules
seems like there's a better way to do it, but.. I'm not sure... like, you still need the limb attachment points to exist, but the rest of the cab could maybe form better limbs, and the attachment points could remain.. their own thing.
>>11480390ahhhh soundboxen. yes. one of the worst of all gimmicks. In my day they actually had little tiny plastic records inside toys, with needles screeching on them when you pulled a cord. but even once electronics showed up, they were NOT any fucking good in sound quality, and require such a huge box...
>>11480390>he stands as tall as Commander Magmatron and SS86 Ultra MagnusUh, having never seen one in person I thought it was taller than that like the RiD, Armada and Cybertron super modes.

>>11480392Yeah the soundbox was big in Energon Optimus, not to mention the battle compartment. IIRC it was AAA batteries which still takes up a chunk of space leading to Optimus's backside elongated a bit. Since a new one won't have that they can clean it up and make him look a little more leaner like his character model sheet.
>>11480403Here he is colored if you want to see it m ore clearly,
>>11480382>>11480386>Still no official or even 3P Big Iron for Energon OptimusThis sucks
>>11480394I don't have SS86 Ultra Magnus but I do have Magmatron and he stands basically as tall as the old Energon Optimus Prime toy (pretty sure SS86 is roughly Magmatron's height but I can't find a good image to illustrate that). This height is a good height for an updated Energon OP because it's big enough that he stands taller than the others but short enough that Combiners are still taller than him. If Energon OP was say Voyager height in his core robot mode then his Super Mode would bump him to maybe Megatronus height because the drones aren't that big and to me that isn't big enough. I don't know how big Hasbro would make him if they ever make him but a new updated toy that retains the original toy's size definitely pushes him into Commander+ Titan category.
>>11480345>Recolor WarsHasbro was stupid and stingy as usual and tried to milk every mold dry, but many of the retools were neat like Afterburner, Nosecone, Off-Road, and Trailbreaker.
>Handfeet WarsThat's the one thing you can't fix on a retail budget and they failed at that.
>Floppy knee/elbow WarsI haven't had any issues like that but it was a bad idea to use balljoints and hinges for the leg joints.
>Unposeable WarsIn combined mode? Yeah, at least the hip ratchets needed to be stronger. It didn't help that the torsos had their weight unbalanced towards the top.
>The absolute state of CW Long Haul... Wars.Beats Long Haul not doing anything in combined mode.
When I said 80 percent I meant that for the most part, the goal was accomplished. The limb bots were good, not outstanding, but compare them to what they were upgrades of. The torso bots were alright but needed more work. I would have made them leaders and balanced the weight more evenly as well as have them come with the hands and feet of the combiners instead of being tall but light voyagers. Even with those issues, they were competently made but flawed.
I can't say that about the Legacy and post-Legacy combiners because nobody is actually combining in those. Like in
>>11480346>>11480400It is but it's a pain in the ass and I do it because I'm autistic about packaging like that.
THIS IS THE END OF THE ROAD FOR YOU, FALLEN!
>>11480373Transformer fans need a Brave injection. If they had a flashy stock footage sequence of Shirubฤboruto combining with his fellow Eฤbottos and their giant combiner kibble they'd be all over the concept.

>>11480380Look man... I had Energon Optimus as a kid, but I don't really care if they never update him.
>>11480392modern toys with soundboxes are pretty cool
agent knight specifically only looks a little bit fat when compared directly to the pontiac whatever the fuck his alt mode is supposed to be. other than that the gimmick works well.
>>11480442That Magnaboss combination is beautiful. Why can't we get another toy of him? Them?
>>11480450Perfect time to, he's the textbook frame combiner.
>>11480442The biggest lie ever told was that you need to have 60 FPS smooth animation.
Good drawing and cool looking cinematography goes SO far.
>>11480452Only Ironhide/Santon.
>>1148045660fps isn't the standard anywhere in animation, really
Midwits and gamers sure love to slurp up those shitty interpolated 60fps upscales though
>>11480456animation's been done at 24 FPS for nearly a century by this point. The push for 60 FPS was started by video game industry big wigs who want to sell better graphics cards, and then co-opted by AI techbros who want you to use AI '''''enhancement''''' on perfectly fine animation to make it 60fps (which, again, doesn't matter in animation. 60 fps does matter for vidya but only some genres)
>>1148046124 fps is the standard for animation. I think it was the standard for film at one point too but I'm not a cinephile so i don't care
>>11480442>BraveWild King, but it's so low budget it's hard to tell

I HATE SKELETONS
>>11480461>>11480463Either way, you don't need to have as many frames as American animators are obsessed with. I always see American animators and fans complain how limited anime is- and it's like who fucking cares when it just looks cooler.
>>11480472i frankly don't give a shit how fluid animation is. I don't watch shows or anime or cartoons for the animation, I watch them for the stories and/or characters.
"but this new show has such impressive animation" i literally do not care. come back to me when some autistic youtuber has written a two hour essay on a character's themes and development and maybe i'll consider watching it.

This Reproduction only fills the void temporarily
>>11480463>24 fps is the standard for animationEven then, animating on 1s is pretty rare for tv animation
>>11480418Good that you got one without the horrible mouth.
>>11480480Nah, the art is important, I just don't need it to be super polished on how it moves if the art itself is good. And even simpler animation is an art in and of itself.
themes or development mean little to me if it looks like some Adventure Time shit if it's meant to be more serious. The art needs to fit the story
>>11480442>If they had a flashy stock footage sequence of Shirubฤboruto combining with his fellow Eฤbottos and their giant combiner kibble they'd be all over the concept. As someone that loves stock animation transformations/combinations I can clearly visualize it on my mind and it rocks.

>>11480448they're smaller now so they require batteries nobody's heard of, but the speaker quality still sucks
it's funny like, the method we use for turning electricity into sound is laughably primitive. we literally have to vibrate a cone with the pattern that it picked up from a different cone that someone yelled into
which means there's a limit to how small a speaker can be before it just sucks, and that limit is like, dinner plate size.
>>11480450impossible under modern budgets
additionally, all of the individual robot modes sucked donkey cock, and would really need to be totally reworked to be any good.
plus skywarp already got a toy.

>>11480247Chasing the cartoon is one of the bigger things that throw a spanner in the works. Modified or new designs are really the only way to go to make it work and that's not going to fly in this line. Even then there's no guarantee they won't fuck it up and we get something on the level of FoC Bruticus again. Hell, they've already given up trying even when working with a combiner-friendly design like Leokaiser.
>>11480346I think I would accept the frames more if the individual robots were several tiers better than they ended up being and the leg panels showcased more of the plugged in bot.
You want "G1 accuracy" and a non-partsforming combiner? Have I got the toy for you.
>>11480693there already were poses posted in the previous thread and you started seething at them and claiming they don't count.
>still no commander class Sixshot
>>11480708What poses you're talking about? The one that needs to break Superion's upper leg by using Silverbolt's elbow so it can stay balanced? Or all the ones that need third party giant shoes because the ones included sucked balls and still fail to be as good as the frame posability? Do you seriously expect people to find these examples legit?
You may hate frames, but them being more stable and posing better is a fact. Trying to argue otherwise is a waste of time.
>>11480737NTA but I'll take aftermarket shoes over the entire combiner being "fake". The whole point of a combiner is it's multiple guys combining into one big guy; if they're just strapped to an existing frame it's defeating the point.
>>11480719you want a frameslop sixshot combiner?
>>11480740Not really, they're combining using the extra parts. Lots of combiners do it.
>>11480745Only shit ones. Like I say, hands and feet I can tolerate. The entire fucking body being extra junk is awful.
>>11480740Why can't the trailer be part of it? Why can't it be six guys powering up with a trailer? Who the fuck said it just had to be six guys without a trailer?
>>11480740>The whole point of a combiner is it's multiple guys combining into one big guy; if they're just strapped to an existing frame it's defeating the point. What's your take on a combiner frame that you can swap bots in and out of?
>>11480748Because they're not combining. They're being stuck on to an existing body, which is lame.
Honestly though Menasor (I assume you're talking about Menasor) is just doomed, his G1 cartoon design is shit and his toy is destined to be colossaly out of scale with everyone else if he stays as a tractor-trailer. He needs completely redesigning.
>>11480749That seems more like smaller robots powering up a big robot.
>>11480750I disagree with your definition of combining. If PR or Voltron can tack a whole fucking tiger on a leg at just a 45 degree angle and be called a combiner, anything's game.
But I agree with you on Menasor. This endless G1 bullshit has prevented good toy engineers from actually achiving some amazing results. They work on a budget, and then they have so many design restrictions and stupulations that they have almost no room to make something fun. I hate transforming Menasor because it's a chore and his individual bots also kinda suck.
>>11480737>What poses you're talking about? The one that I screeched doesn't count because it ruins my narrative? Or all the ones that I screeched that don't count because it ruins my narrative?

>>11480793Yeah. Superion also sucks. I'm actually starting to agree with the guy bitching about frames. You know what? Fuck you. Fuck frames too. This shit is so lazy and I'm sick of pretending Dead End or Breakdown have any purpose on my shelf. They're facing the wall completely obstructed for fuck's sake.
>>11480753>But I agree with you on Menasor. This endless G1 bullshit has prevented good toy engineers from actually achiving some amazing results.Right. It's a shame because the concept of the team is fun, but the actual design is just not really very good. It's a bit depressing that all these years on I feel one of the better Menasors out there is the ancient FP set. I have the G2 Wildrider from that team, cool little Deluxe.
Superion is in a similar boat, albeit I feel the CW one with better feet is a perfectly servicable combiner toy. I actually used printed adapters to combine the old TFC limbs with CW Silverbolt and that looked pretty nifty, albeit definitely not very stable due to the greater weight of the TFC guys. Still, he does look cool, and those old 3P guys have some lovely jet modes.
are they going to reissue commander class optimus prime?

>>11480841Here is my Marvel G1 shelf.
Comic Edition is the best subline Hasbro have ever done IMO and after I got the 4 releases I needed more, so I picked up Impactor and Springer from the Wreck โn Rule line. Now itโs become a fun way to repurpose obsolete toys in my collection, repainting them into more comic style colours. So far Iโve done Blaster (new head, blacks painted blue or grey) and Ultra Magnus (white face, red thighs and more red on the chest) and Iโm very happy with them. I'm looking forward to adding more from the Wreck 'n Doom subline and I cannot wait for Studio Series to start doing comic figures in 2027.
All this combining talk reminded me of the dark age where the designers were afraid of parts separating, resulting in a Jetfire who butt fucked Optimus

Should have garages that cars can drive in and out.
Instead, Hasbro sticks connector ports in there so nothing can roll in.
Makes Micro Trailer too big to be able to roll in and out.
Why do the designers always make such bonehead mistakes? It's not even budget issues, it's just "lets mold this part so it doesn't work right"
>>11480994as with every toy nowadays it's a compromise for the robot mode. all the tabs and ports are so you can plug everything in and it won't rattle around. it sucks. I'd gladly take rattling legs if it meant I could roll the trailer out of them.

>>11480994I don't get it either, is basic playability.
>>11481005>all the tabs and ports are so you can plug everything in and it won't rattle around. it sucksThere's ways to do that without interfering with the microtrailer bring able to roll out of the truck. Like designing the roof door so it locks the microtrailer in place when closed instead of having to peg it on the floor. It's as simple as that.
>>11480778Ok, let's say using third party bullshit and cheating poses using the wrong joints counts (it doesn't). They still pose like shit compared to the frames, and that's something even a brainlet can't deny.

Somehow this thread is even more tedious than the last.
>>11481068Why are you bringing up Missing Link Ultra Magnus for no reason?
So Missing Link Magnus will almost certainly get a toy color and a toon color version, right? But the recent comic included as a character a blue version of Powered Buggy, who was only an accessory in the Diaclone version of Powered Convoy.
I would bet good money on a Diaclone Powered Convoy/Delta Magnus version of ML Magnus, but do you think Toy Magnus will include Powered Buggy or any exclusive things that would be on the Diaclone version?
I've never actually seen the "exclusive features" that were cut from Diaclone Powered Convoy but I've read that there's a jet mode made of his chestplate and head and a couple extra base modes? I'm just curious of they'll be there. I really like the idea of the Missing Link one being a "director's cut" kind of toy.

>>11481474You can't just hope that a TF will go out distribution long enough to flip it. Legacy Breakdown is a rare case of a toy being so poorly put out that people's only alternatives are buying the figure for $180 or the whole Menasor set, which is like slightly North of that. Vortex has no such issues because it's everywhere. You can either sit on it for a few years, which will probably lead to zero profit, or you can be a bastard and do what I do when a toy can't be sold -- make it "for parts". Disconnect everything that's a peg, slider, and joint, and list it all seperately as "for parts". You mean that yellow pin that goes out, in and spins right? if so once I figured that was the thing that stopped him flipping modes I never thought to force it against it (semi rotated it once, but didnt dare force it when it only tipped halfway with something clearly stopping it) instead made the flip choice while the pin is pulled back as the instructions say. Why'd they end up doing only just 5/6 Gobots scouts, again? Hasbro's sitting on a ton of molds that would be great for some characters long overdue for a modern toy. Like Dragstrip here. Little green paint, give him a Tumblr nose, shave his ears off -- and he'd be the ultimate rival to Crasher!
>>11482042Presumably because it was the Mini-Bot recolor pack that was billed as GoBots long ago. They don't seem to be trying everything.
So seeing as he's confirmed to be a Dinoking retool, what do you expect of Monstructor and the Pretender Monsters?
>>11482062Now that I think about it, the legacy core Pretenders should fit well with 6 more core Pretenders.

Monstructor is one of my all time favorites and I've never been able to afford a real one or the 3p one so I've always prayed for a new one, but the core Dinobots are fucking dogshit toys. >>11482087Shame because they probably could've remolded the Terrorcon and Dinobot molds and given us some decent Monstracons
>>11482167>>11482195I kinda hope that any newer Pretender Monsters would have their alt modes based more on the Pretender shells rather than the original alt modes as the shells have a more memorable look compared to the originals generic blocky 'monster' modes.
>>11482258I actually preferred what they did with Bludgeon, Iguanus and Bomburst, basing the robot modes off of the Pretender shells and keeping the vehicle modes of the inner robot; doesn't really work with the Monstructor team, since their alt modes are just robotic versions of their shells, but with characters like Octopunch, Bugly, Sub-Marauder, or Bludgeon, the shells are far more iconic and memorable than their actual robot modes.

Are uprgrade kits for G1 figures still a thing? Thought I'd save myself the rigmarole of slogging through TroonFW2005 and ask here as the top result for the aforementioned hell-hole is a thread from 12 years ago, a single necropost 2 years ago bumped it.
The things I want are probably too niche tbf (new arms for Astrotrain, a mount for Squeezeplays beast-mode to facilitate weapon storage in that mode), but if you don't ask you'll never know...
>MPG God Bomber
I really don't like the fact that this is better designed than Ginrai (not super Ginrai)
There are of course paint scratches here and there , but at least they are not on the face.
They even have that new gundam elbow with swivel on the forearm thing going on (not double jointed though)
The figure is rather stable when you tabs everything in but due to its nature I recommend you hold the figure securely by the whole torso.
Issues
The hip is just "loose"
Not the ratchet joints but the rods that are holding that joints. There are just too much movement in the crotch/hip connection that you feel like you are bending the rod when you pulling the legs in the lateral movement
Also the box can't hold the extra part when you put God Ginrai's box toghter
>sword
This is made of soft plastic. Not that soft like Magmatron's.
As Ginrai is at home and I will be traveling overseas on Wednesday so no God Ginrai until the 19th.
Overall I think the figure is pretty good. I really don't know about the Chrome though.
Having the first release LG Ginrai/Bomber, the silver/grey paint seems to be a better fit to the overall look than the chrome

>>11482453I'm really expecting it to be a Haslab. Maybe I'm wrong, but it just seems like the precedent was set with RiD Prime and Magnus. Just feels like they aren't confident they can make a big Prime that combined with a big lesser known buddy work at retail. Of course, as I was typing this, I remembered that Star Convoy is a regular retail release, and he is easily less recognizeable than PM Prime, so I just don't the fuck know what to expect anymore.

>>11482519Thankfully I'm retarded so I might fix it or trust China with fixing this shit in DNA kit form.
Freed up some space to mess around with Megatronus a little. What a great toy.
>>11482529>What a great toy. When qc is good, my copy has hip problems and slightly loose shoulders (pinned part).
>>11482386I really won't recommend getting Super Ginrai set beyond the msrp
Thsi set is like one gaint contradiction of construct
Super Ginrai is great but normal Ginrai just flops all over the place.
Ginrai 's torso lack any actual locking mechanism to secure the chest to the abs.
the hip uses this pull down system that is also too loose so even the clicking teeth on the side didn't help in stabilizing the legs.
And the hips for some reason instead of just friction for the side movement, they used this pseudo rachet and that too also flops around.
I say that for Ginrai the 3rd PE version is actually superior.
But for super mode, (almost) everything is secure and the joints function as you expected with God Bomber has to be added in later. I think the reason for this is how simple Super Ginrai is in term of engineering
Playing around with Ginrai again tonight just made me wish they did not designed Ginrai the way they did. There is no reason to over complicate things just because it is a MP. MP 10 is still great and that thing is simple
>>11482512God Fire Convoy/Omega Prime was a big anniversary project, are the primary heroes of a tv series, was a design that hadn't received any update since its original release, and was updating a design whose last rerelease was a disaster. Powermaster Prime isn't nearly as big of a deal, Powermaster was never in any cartoons or anything (and Ginrai has had plenty of high-end releases in recent years, like the recent masterpiece). I don't see any reason why it would need to be a haslab, it seems more like a Laser Prime level priority, and Armada Prime was a very similar concept done excellently at the Commander level.
>>11482453Isn't he mostly hollow due to being mostly a trailer and a set of armor? Ho would work as a leader, but I have no idea how well he would sell.
>>11482512They made Armada Prime, and both Hasbro and Takara want another Cybertron Prime, and they have two buddies each to combine with.
>>11482529Do your flame pieces feel fine? I heard they have same issue as blast effects

>>11479862I'm about to buy it. Are the eyes stickers?
Predaking is now the G1 combiner most in need of a redo, cause holy shit man, awful. And Devastator shows that Hasbro could do him justice now. But you just know that when it's his turn, he'll be frameslop, and Razorclaw will be a voyager figure with a frame that turns into a fence or something retarded.
>>11482370this sword's curve is backwards.. it looks weird.. and is it an illusion or is there a little wrinkle at the end?
>>11482805Sounds better than the alternative. PotP couldn't even include Predaking's spiked knuckles.
>>11482805Takara's new Predaking should be out this year, maybe early next year

>>11482367I really wanted to get this, but the reviews just turned me off. The soft sword was one thing, but my main issue was the chrome, it just looks tacky and the connection to the chest also seems to strip paint.

Did we ever get a better full updated pic of this?
And maybe who's who?
>>11483135How can you not tell who's who, completely ignoring that their emblems are floating above them not a one resembles any other.
Had some issues with Silverbolt's wings not being able to support their weight. Fixed them by adding some tiny dots of super glue to the wing pieces that fit into the hinges. Still not a great beast mode (the decision to lock the front legs in place seems like a strange one to me), but I feel better about him overall as a figure at least.
>>11482576And mine don't have any issues, though I guess I can see how they could with that kind of soft plastic.
>>11483174yeah they have this weird boner for beast mode limb locking recently, and I do not get it or want it. but it's pretty easily disabled by sawing off tabs.

Oh you got the upgrade kit, didn't you :D yeah that helps.

>>11483176Yeah, I can't stand the beast modes that essentially the figures into statues. Silverbolt's isn't that bad though there are workarounds like you said, just some weird design choices. And yeah, I actually got that upgrade kit purely for the Tigerhawk parts, but a less stubby tail and longer wingspan for SB were nice bonuses.
>>11483300oh that's interesting, you used the new and old guns
I'm giving the old ones to a repainted Dinobot I think... i haven't figured that out yet.
>>11483304Yeah, I couldn't really figure out what to do with those, so I just left them in the wing storage slots. They at least make the wings look less hollow when he's got the new guns in hand. They'd definitely look good as some extra firepower for Dinobot though, like when he was toting around all those extra big guns in the S2 premiere.
>>11483311Yeah mainly I just don't feel like doing multiple coats on something that waffled, so when I paint him, I'll paint over the already tan paint that I painted him to try to fix the colors, not knowing Premium Finish was coming out.. and so i'll only have to do one coat of.. I'm thinking clear blue-green. I dunno exactly how that'll look, but it'll preserve the work I did
as opposed to putting them on a tigatron repaint, on one hand yeah they'd fit nicely on the forearms, but then I'd really have to paint thoroughly.. and the waffles.. good lord the waffles.
>>11483121Yeah, but it's fucking weird, got the G1 thing going on where the torso is massive next to the limb bots.

The trailer is a very important thing for the toy Optimus Prime, but it's less relevant for cartoon Optimus prime. However, every version of Optimus should still HAVE a trailer, even if they don't tow it often, because it allows the writers to utilize it. Wish there was more to look forward to this year on the TFA front than Nemesis, but Ratchet and Wreck-gar will be nice next year.
>>11483674Megatron is lame as a gun full stop. Tank (or helicopter) is better.
>>11483671Skybound (AKA the best and now definitive G1 incarnation) barely features the trailer. So you're wrong.
I am moving at the end of July. Best way to make sure stuff doesn't break?
>>11483691>(AKA the best and now definitive G1 incarnation)
>>11483691But he still has it, which is the argument being made
>>11483703What's the alternative?
>Sunbow (utterly soulless, ugly dreck)>Marvel (same but a comic instead of a cartoon)>Dreamwave (decent but unfinished)>IDW (trannyshit)
I think the "edgy" word is stupid almost always but there's really no other way to describe Skybound, which is just a death march of your favorite characters being slaughtered with some of the ugliest art I've ever seen. Guy just doesn't know how to draw faces.
>>11483696Wrap your toys in paper of some sort? Don't overstuff a box or use massive boxes that will easily crumple? Put "fragile toys" on the side of the box? There's lots of ways anon, use you're imagination.
>>11483707>but there's really no other way to describe SkyboundYou sound like Mr. Enter calling cartoons "mean spirited".
>which is just a death march of your favorite characters being slaughteredAlmost all the deaths so far have been nobodies like Reflector. Also
>G1>CharactersPick one.
>with some of the ugliest art I've ever seenShit taste detected.
>>11483711I don't know who your imaginary friend is and I'm not reading any of your post after that.
>>11483712I accept your concession.

>>11483707Then you should like new art style
>>11483726Absolute dogshit, fuck you Paul Poncet
>>11483726Damn thats tempting.
But after Optimus, I dunno...
>>11483726>Still no forward hip movementLmao
No, Pat, I don't want to buy a fucking vowel. I'd like to solve the puzzle.

>>11483540I'll accept G1 and Unicron Trilogy for "Needs a Trailer"
Maybe some others like Powermasters, Victory and so
Anything else? Nah he's fine without it
>>11483726These have all been absurdly dogshit and insane price for what they are
Easy pass
Cybertron Sideways, and I assume Excellion, is shipping from Pulse UK. Why the fuck not, eh? Every other preorder already dropped this month, might as well do the lot of them.
I am looking forward to this one though.
>Ironfist/Carnivac arrive

>Blaster randomly gets a reissue after I paid 54 bucks for him a couple months ago
Son of a bitch. Oh well, he's a great toy and more people should have him.
>>11483817mouth looks like the mold degraded somehow
>>11483830Which is weird since it's an entirely new tooling for the face.
>>11483829I knew they'd pull some shit eventually but I'm glad I paid like retail off HLJ way back
Happy to see Anons will finally get him
Now to hunt another Steeljaw
>>11483726Looks really good, way better than Bumblebee.
>Sound brickWonder what sounds he makes.
>>11483766Add more joints to these and they have the risk of falling and explode into a million pieces. This isn't intended as a fully posable action figure, that's what regular Transformers are for. This is for people who actually get the appeal of Lego and are also fans of Transformers.
>>11483809>Lego is expensiveAnd water is wet.
As someone whose favorite toys have always been both Transformers and Lego I wonder if people who only buy Lego have takes on Transformers as stupid as these.
>>11483810i can't wait for Excellion. He's an old favorite toy of mine from when I started collecting and he's probably the toy I'm most looking forward to. Cybertron Sideswipe is a good toy already so I'm very excited to have my favorite version of him.
>>11483726I like it, but not for 180 burgers
>>11483833Is the alt mode of your Blaster clearly bent when you look from the top? I wonder if it's a normal issue or they just failed to pin the hips exactly where they should be on mine and is fucking everything over.
>>11483711REFLECTOR? A NOBODY?!!!!!
I was thinking about it in the 3P thread after a 3P Broadside came out, but what do you think a Hasbro Broadside would look like in the tooner era? I think Evan has alluded to the idea of one being possible. Because Broadside to me is always the 3rd one (though I wish he had the toy detail colors on the legs instead of flat gray,) but I don't know if that's what they'd consider THE Broadside design for the toon checklisters.
I kind of hope they do something like Sandstorm and release toy colors/head as the main one then doing the other design as an exclusive.
And speaking of, have any of the designers mentioned the possibility of the Deluxe Vehicles coming back? Roadbuster is another of my all-time favorites and the T30 one is hot dogshit. I have all the 3P ones which are fine but I'd rather have a nice mainline one

>>11483855isn't the 3rd one based on the toy too?
>>11483862It is. But the toon used multiple models. I want the third one and I HOPE that's the one they use but I don't know.

I kinda like the look of the cassettes, I'll give it that much.

Also, look at that, new thread time.
>>11483873
>>11483872That's what we have Geewunner for.
>>11483879Nah, geewunner is more general-purpose. Tooners are extreme examples of geewunners who even reject G1 content that isn't the Sunbow cartoon and demand everything replicate it exactly, forever. See the mouthbreathers who unironically think MP Bumblebee 2.0 is better than the 1.0 because MUH TOOOOOOOOOON
>>11483855How the fuck do any of those work
>>11483872>>11483869don't reply to him. He does this all the time. He's the same guy who goes on about how "actually only one person says 'tooner'." It pisses him off so he does this retarded shit so he can pretend people don't know what the word means.
>>11483881I don't want to humor him but there are so many good examples of toonerism too. Stuff like characters being white instead of silver, painted windshields, Bumblebee not being a volkswagen, the list goes on. And like I'm sympathetic to some of it, too. Like, I don't expect most Bee toys to have facemasks because that's just not how that character is represented. But I always go back to what Hasui said about the MPs - the idea that it's about representing the idea of the character rather than replicating it. The MP shouldn't be Optimus with a weird lanky face with a nose just because the cartoon had that.
I guess it's kind of an apple test for cartoon characters. Like, if you see DCAU Batman as being only the Bruce Timm artstyle rather than being a representation of a human character, you're weird. Not being able to understand abstraction and representation makes you weird.
>>11483929>gundam has HG's based on the designs, RGs extrapolating what they'd be like if they were real, Ver. Iโm much happier with Quake after a repaint, though I canโt decide if the colours are a bit too dark now. I matched it to Titans Return but looking at pictures of G1 those may not have been accurate.
>>11486815He looks sick and I wouldn't stress about color accuracy too much. I'm only like 40 something issues into Marvel G1, but the colors and designs for a lot of bots seem wildly inconsistent so far.
