DC General - Cyborg Superman: The most scalped figure of 2025 Edition
I've monitored the Cyborg Superman situation on ebay. Many scalpers I have seen list the figure before just keep listing more and more copies over the days. Yesterday a scalper had 7+ of the figure in stock. Where are they getting all these? From my experience with the figure once a Walmart sells out, they don't get anymore restocks of it. So what is going on? What's your view?

News:
-Superman Movie figure endcaps in random Walmart Electronics departments if you want them.
-Spinmaster Superman movie figures in stores and online, some on sale already.
-Misc. Superboy/Wonder Woman Page Puncher wave preorders up; standard DCMV Batman heavy wave with another Azbat variant and No Man's Land inspired Digital wave preorders coming soon (but no wire on that Batman cape!).

After DC he will need to decrease his output even more to avoid getting into a situation where retailers won't take his figures anymore, which would put his cash flow in a very bad spot.

The Spawn line is already screwed, he can barely make any because he alienated stores since the past figs had a lot of peg warming and went on sale. Bad character choices partly led to this, like Haunt, King Spider, Reaper, etc. rather than focusing on nostalgic characters and classic looks. The Deviant from the Rat City book is the latest one digitally peg warming for $30 at various places. The figure market is different than the 90s and early 00s--cool stuff doesn't sell anymore.

Movie statues seemed to go on deep discount as well. Maybe some sold but others did not.

The anime lines seem to sell enough to persist but they can never really be big enough to be a main focus.

His next strategy is already clear: overpriced $60 'elite' figures like Lilith, Doomguy and Purse Owner 3 protag. He's going deeper into scarcity baiting and chasing figures as an "investment." These will likely be riskier and hit or miss and could cause issues if he miscalculates demand. Protag from P3 has already proved to be a bad choice as it didn't sell out. Stores won't stand for $60 peg warmers.

>task force variant, rat city spawn and the movie stuff
Yeah pretty much all low interest stuff sadly. Stores don't really stock enough for McFarlane to be putting out low interest figures like Task Force wave based on a video game from the 90s few played and Rat City Spawn which is basically a figure that is an ad for one of his new comics in "Spawn Universe"

He should be focusing on sure sellers. And that does not mean only Batman, since some of the Batmen he has put out recently are not even sure sellers, like the cowboy Batman.

He's probably in the 10k-15k range as he has said in the past. The Chinese factories will not let you make extremely low quantities without paying penalty fees, which makes doing so less than desirable. He is probably making at or around MOQ for the factories he uses.

They pay the money for a license because the license guarantees the sales. Not quality. Are Bandai and GSC even still making P3 main figures or are they aftermarket for like 200 bucks?

Almost all major domestic figure companies (with maybe the exception of Jada and the Four Horsemen), rely on their customer being stupid and buying something because its an IP the customer cares about, not due to the quality of the product.

Yeah, even at their best, I don't think McFarlane has been on model. Their Aliens/predators were considered some of the best, but they were never on model. Still, holy shit, look at how amazing they looked despite that.

And to be fair, almost no company is ever on model. I think only DC Direct and random gashapon/statueshit companies are good at keeping shit on model. Play Arts and Good Smile succeed most of the time too. Everyone else? Almost never.

Supposedly, McFarlane used the 3d game models to make their Halo figures, but none of the games ever looked that detailed. Maybe CGI stuff.

My local Wal-Mart finally put out their Superman movie figure display over the weekend. When I got there this afternoon, out of three cardboard box holders on three shelves, they had sold out of everyone but Superman/Krypto, Superman robot, battle damaged Ultra-Man, and both Mr Terrifics.

They also still had two Jades, JLU colors Deadshot, regular Adam Strange, and the Atom/Green Arrow/Superman NTF wave.

I got Cyborg Superman, Year One Batman, and Commissioner Gordon by pure luck a month ago. Still on the fence on getting Jade since she's in the stupid 00s Outsiders costume and not her McFarlane/Ordway costume. Is she worth getting?

Sounds like you got lucky and got all the walmart figures worth getting and none of the garbage. And I really doubt Jade is worth it given she's just reuse of Catwoman. It's a boring mold. I seriously do not know how these people make money on this or why they even bother. I've sold platinums that Todd's shitty retailers sent me instead of what I wanted on ebay so I know how little you get from a sale.

Ebay takes 13.6% of the sale. If they sell it at $40, 5.44 goes to ebay. Then they're doing free shipping to the buyer, so they have to pay for the shipping, so given Todd's jumbo sized 7" figures, that's like $6-11 depending on how far the buyer is from them in the US. Then the figure itself cost them $25. Best case scenario, that totals 36.44 in costs. That gives them $3.56 in profit. What is the point of that?
Anonymous No.11484550 >>11484778
So, I went to the Amazon Prime early access screening last night. I really enjoyed it. Moreso than Man of Steel. Definitely not on the same level as the Donner films, but Gunn definitely gets the character, moreso than anyone in this thread seems to think. The film wasn't without it's issues, they soften Lex up a little too much, Hollywood reallly needs to get over making villains sympathetic. The two warring countries being stand ins for Israel and Palestine was a little on the nose and could've done with a dose of subtlety, but you can't expect Hollywood to understand subtle. Then you have a little too much of the signature Gunn humor sprinkled in at kind of weird times, but it wasn't awful. Overall my gripes are just nitpicks. The scenes of Clark yelling and getting frustrated definitely work better when viewed in the context of the whole film and scene. Overall, it was good. Felt a lot like an issue of All Star Superman. It was good. Haters gonna hate though.

Yes of course something like that will make money. But 97% of figures are not that. So I don't get why the scalpers even bother with most figures. I feel like it's Todd tricking them into buying the figures with things like platinum, red platinum "collectors edition," "Elite Edition" silly marketing to get them to think the figure will be worth more than like 5 bucks of profit to them. Revoltech is going to have different looks, even when they might be trying to match a comic book or a movie version. You are going to get more of an anime inspired product, by and large. Mafex, of that particular version, will give you a very distinct looking bats (for that matter, the particular revoltech you name checked would as well) and one thing to keep in mind, even beyond scaling, that if you already own or think you will ever get other DC (or even other lines) of action figures, how either of these will look with those.

Otherwise, both are generally safe bets as far as manufacturers so go for the best price, since neither are new, there's no reason you cannot wait and look around to find the best possible price.

Leave the house
Have a job
Drive to stores
Look at people in stores
Not find anything
Drive back home
Talk to you all about my experience

And ive been doing this for a few years now. Id rarher just lie on reddit about first finding a multiverse figure that every scalper wants, then being almost killed by a grumpy thief instead since that sounds easier.

Insider here
These orders arent fufilled by the stores themselves nor its associates. Ive been a sleeper agent for 4 years, posing an a acc tech just to understand and ultimately destroy walmart from with in. Ive never seen anyone ever do a fed ex order, not saying it doesnt happen, but after 4 years deep within their ranks ive never even overheard anyone mention picking orders for shipping. It could be that a delivery driver does that part but once again, i do oil changes and tires so while i know fed ex comes several times a day i think shipping orders are handled at the dc while delivery or pick up are store based.
