Won an auction today for a seemingly authentic MP-36, I got him for 130 shipped.
>>11487043are you sure its not a KO?
>>11486932 (OP)>ordered the cheapest one>keep thinking about this toy for days>at the end it will cost me more than Trypticon or Skorponok (so - around $200 bucks)>but i'd rather have T or S>still devastator is multiple cool transformers>but im not sure...probably wont be able to display him because he's bigDamn
should i just cancel my order before it is too late?
>>11487076its not rare to get good deals on like yahoo auctions
I got MP44 for 25k yen, shipping was 5k yen, the msrp was like 50k yen.
>>11487090you know you're just gonna wind up buying them all.
>>11487098its a gamble
but usually japs dont lie when selling stuff
>>11487076not 100% no, but from the research I've done the telltale signs are the stamped serial number on the bottom of the box and the visible V shape above his eyes and below his helmet. It's also shipping from an American seller that mostly doesn't sell transformers. The way I see it, if it is a KO I paid a pretty standard price, and if it's authentic I got a good deal.

>>11487102>you know you're just gonna wind up buying them all.You are right.
the main reason of why i started is that you still can get them for discount prices.
I spent just 22eur for the first time.
Picrelated are prices i would pay for the same toy on ebay:
So...if i won't get devastator i will be FUCKED forever because you have to spend around 60-70eur for the cheapest one.
I assume after market Studio Devastator would cost like... 500eur few years later if you include shipping

>>11487090I just bought scrapper and don't plan on building Devastator, the figures that comprise him are too samey to me. Scrapper is a sweet figure though, people complain about him being small but I love messing with this guy
>>11487106Ah nevermind, I just saw on the original listing about a day ago they added a note saying it is a KO. Oh well.
>>11487119>the figures that comprise him are too samey to methis why i never had Devastator before.
but i love the idea of having a giant bright green transformer and sometimes pick 1 part of him and turn it into a smaller robot toy.
i think this is the last chance in my life. Next time they will make another one i will be close to 50y/o lol
Got Sky Byte in the mail. I'm honestly blown away by how good he is. He did come with a minor flaw, a bit of his helmet has a chunk of paint missing.
Anyone know if there's a shade of bluish purple paint that matches it?
>>11487138send me one and i'll let you know heehee
naw yeah i want him but i'm not paying full price.. my funds are not great at the moment. Uhhh can you take a picture of him next to, oh, let's say Netflix Cheetor.. ? that would help me at least get you close on the shade of indigo.

>>11487190Okay. that is a few notes more purple than ultramarine blue, but ultramarine would definitely be a good starting point. Mix it with a little royal purple, I'd say close to 50/50, and I think you'll be in.
but the tricky part is this is a nice saturated indigo, and in my experience, model-kit paints suitable for action figures tend to be much more subdued (Vallejo's ultramarine blue and royal purple are way less saturated than this) so it might be tough to find some bright enough. giving in and using paints meant for PAINTING is a pain, but i DID do that on my netflix cheetor and got his shins the right matching color, so it's doable. (I sold that one once Premium Finish came in)
And if you wanna get fully paintistic, 'clear' paint over a brighter color can do wonders for vividness.
>>11487189I should do more to see who fits in the throne
>>11487215>paints meant for PAINTINGrealized the ambiguity here. i mean like on canvases
that kind of paint is lousy for working on plastic, but it is very bright
I know a lot of people are going in on SS86 Devastator but something about it is off to me
>>11487215Thanks, upon transforming it a second time, I realized I probably caused the chip. The paint around the head comes off very easily, a light bump from the shoulder pads while connecting took out another bit. I've heard about clear coats but I have no experience with that or how to do it, so that's a bummer, specially when this figure is so good. It reminds me of the yellow on the SG Sideswipe figure and Senator Shockwave's white paint.
>>11487243clear coats can be bought in a simple spray can, Mr. Hobby is a good one.

>>11487090I've always wanted a complete Devastator so I'm waiting for my commander set to come in, but I already found Scrapper, Bonecrusher, and Mixmaster at Walmart. I also have a preorder for Scavenger, but I'm still keeping an eye out in case some store randomly gets him early like with the other 3 I found.
Bonecrusher as a figure is kind of goofy but I likeit anyways
Scrapper and Mixmaster are pretty nice and I enjoy them on their own merits as well as for being Devastator's feet.
>>11487237>someone's size amplifier is malfunctioning
>>11487237Out of curiosity would it be possible to put 2 Bonecrusher arms or does Scavenger have a different connection somehow? I'm asking because I have a second Bonecrusher that I could maybe use to give him both arms.
>>11487698I don't think it can work because Bonecrusher has specific slots to clip the chest wings onto and that should be on just one side of the figure, but besides that, the connector port is just a slider so maybe it does work?
How are the TF One Studio Series figures? I rewatched it today and liked it even more the second time.

>>11486932 (OP)Will we get the updated Bruticus?
i love what they doing with Devastator and i would love the new Bruticus
I never finished the CW one - got just Blast of and Brawn (the tank one) and they were so "weak" that i didn't want to finish the combiner. Especially i didnt want to buy that dune buggy/jeep because it looked the worst (there is a tank and out of the sudden they have gigantic tank-size dune buggy with open space and no visible place for anyone to sit)
Thoughts on the cyberworld show? episode 1 just released on YouTube. First official look at Optimus, bee, scorponok, megabull and Russian grimlock.
Optimus has personality and actually jokes but it's kinda marvel-y. I'm not ashamed to admit I snorted a little bit when he said 'usually there's an axe there.' though.
>>11488409>Will we get the updated Bruticus?Yes
>>11488409Yes but frame slop
>>11488409The most recent Vortex has the same break in half gimmick as the stunticons, so yes he will eventually be a thing.
>>11488418Its cute just like the jap Wild King. I'll watch it a bit more but I won't buy any of the toys.
>>11488424Yeah i googled it right after creating my post and saw that Vortex is already available and he's the first in the line. I wonder how the new style of bruticus will look...
Man...that old combiner wars was great but had so many questionable bad options...
Like...i remember 100% knowing for sure that i hate the figure or some parts of it but it was the only option to have a cool giant combiner or new version of a certain transformer.
I rember how shitty combiner Jazz was but i still bought him, regretted it and never touched (he was all floppy and weird).
I think the only time i actually had FUN with those combiners was Abominus - he was the absolute best and i liked every part of him (maybe except the Sinnertwin - he had such a low quality build...)
>>11488429>>11488428yeah it will be a frame thing but im sure they wont make the tank one as bad as the CW one...
PS:
I do like how skeletal-slenderman-ish old combiners looked though
they felt like actual giants with heavy bodies and with dangling heavy limbs
>>11488345Ah, looked like the Universe Bruticus I have. Same mold, very similar colors, but different sound effects.
>>11488418I like Prime doing shitty dad quips and the voice actor actually captures the "strong enough to be gentle" vibe well enough without having to mimic Peter Cullen, it's a nice first impression if you ask me, makes me feel bad it only exists to promote shitty walmart shelfwarmers
Got my BBTS Commander Long Haul/Hook and Silverbolt
Now a member of the "Waiting till October" club
>>11488334I completely forgot about MMC Ruination, hopefully with the tariff shit they aren't a pain in the ass to get.
>>11488456fun fact, prime and bumblebee share the same voice actor.
also, while I dislike the relatively high price for some of the slop it's nice that they're trying to go back to the roots of the old cyberverse (dotm/prime one) toyline with small figures with interconnectivity and playsets.
>>11488498Waiting for my amazon preorder for Hook and Longhaul, also have an Amazon preorder for Scavenger, but the commander set should come first.
I have Silverbolt, Skydive and Fireflight on preorder at Gamestop in Canada, but they may not arrive until the fall
If this toy had wrist swivels he'd probably be remembered as one of the all time greats
>>11488661Maube some way to move his shoulders outward too
>>11488661Yeah, it was idiotic to mold his hands and elbows in the directions they did with no ability to let him just hold his weapon normally - it's either posing him like you have him in your picture or rotating his arms so his elbows bend inward to let him point his axe forward. Basic wrist swivels would have fixed this easily, and I have no idea why they didn't give him any - especially since he's an Ultra class and had a decent budget behind him.
>>11488661Hopefully he gets a Generations release someday.
The best pic to show the fucked up proportions on ss86 Devastator, they oversized the upper half, thats why the legs look so short,
>>11488738last thread someone said that's because his leg guys would look too big uddawise
>the combiner team with 6 members is slightly taller than the 5 member team combiners
>"Why is Devastator taller"
>>11488763not remotely what he said
I think I'm going to cancel my 86 Blaster and Eject from BBTS and keep whatever version I have. Mine has a clear window and a translucent Eject.
>>11488763I was talking about proportions, Devastator legs should be bigger or his upper torso smaller so the crotch-neck ratio (those orange lines) match Superions, who has way better proportions.
>6 membersYou can't use that excuse, cause of the frame superion is using, that shit can count for 2 more members.
>>11488769That's the Kingdom version. The only differences are the paint apps and the plastic they used for Eject.
>>11488769Only reason to get the ss86 are the less fragile tape (no clear plastic body), painted chest window for animation accuracy and the probably not yellowing plastic on his chest buttons.

In all seriousness though, Kingdom Blaster is great but it had lot of little inaccuracies in the colours. That's really the only thing SS86 improves upon but I'd say he's still worth the upgrade, though I am a little biased since Blaster is my favourite character and SS86 is my favourite toy.

As a filthy spic what are my best options for importing? I used to go through BBTS even though it's expensive but with all the recent doom and gloom I imagine the shipping fees will get even worse. Plus the shipping company they use is ass.

>>11489002>I never said you were pro-frames, I called you an autist.i'm calling you are retard then.
Devastator is a transformer that saved current age of transformer toys.

I'm so glad Devastator is an actual combiner.

Most of you guys seem pretty reserved with your purchases. Am I the only compulsive buyer here? Anyone ever โforcedโ themselves to buy a figure? Like maybe you *think* you might enjoy it if you just try it out. Recently Ive been itching for the new Sly-Byte despite deciding firmly that I dont need it and the original unequivocally looks better? Im sure its a good toy (despite multiple reports of QC problems. Another example is Thundertron which I just bought to basically just buy something. I dont like the character and I think the figure looks bad. I dont know why I am this way and I suspect Im the only one here who is this mental in this regard.
>>11489307>Am I the only compulsive buyer here?>on /toy/anon.......
>>11489307i have my compulsions, but everything still has to make sense in some way, and right now Sky-Byte is the last available guy I would even want. and maybe one more Tigatron to customize, because I got some clear grey paint finally, and that would look wicked awesome laid on top of his stripes.
and everything's hugely overpriced, so i'm gonna wait. it's the only thing we can do. if a huge number of your sales are at a discount, prices MUST go down.
Ive had Silverbolt for 10 days and I have refused to take the Superion kibble out of the box because I dont want to play with it until I have the entire team. Am I crazy? Damnit. Looks like I got hit with a QC issue. There is a gap in his shoulder joint that shouldnt be there and that shit is wobbly as fuck like it wants to snap off. From the underside. Looks like its not assembled properly. There are screws to disassemble it but I dont have any screwdrivers that reach into the extremely deep holes
>>11489362Which is confusing because both Jalopy and Joyride labels are found in the exact same leaks, but their product codes are different.
>>11489377hm that feels like you might be able to wiggle it back into place.
um, if your screwdriver can't reach into the depth of the hole, that means it's just too big, right? screwdrivers are.. very long. longer than any screwhole's depth.
>>11489380Funny, I pressed on it and it did seat a little better. Even got a small pop, like something seated into place better. Still not as solid as the other shoulder though. Id still like to get in there and take a look. The problem with all my screwdrivers is theyre those sets with all the little bits and the shaft is too big. Been meaning to get a set of long thin ones.
>>11489389ohhhh yeah, the kind with interchangeable tips. yeah those are great but, in the end, you still need more variety for some things. i keep a little thin one on my desk, the kind with the swiveling part at the end so you can press your hand into it and really get it going without Mario Partying a hole into your palm.. and I use that for most toy-related things.

>aotp heatwaveI genuinely hated the Bulkhead so easy pass on this shit but I also wouldn't say he's "Bad" so much as it's a bad mold that looks moderately okay design and color wise

>>11489368>>11489427>Devastation PrimeHe's also the most pointless SS release since 86 Optimus also has everything he did from the game. For that reason, I see 86 Optimus as a nebulously G1 Prime, unless you get upgrade kits to give hime the Megatron arm from Skybound
>>11489431they're expecting you to use the cartoon accurate blaster from Legacy United g1 universe toy Optimus Prime aka budget missing link

and then give us cokeatron.
>>11489380>>11489412Welp, I got his shoulder open and its an honest to goodness QC issue. The main pin of his shoulder is mis-shot and didnt go deep enough. Fuck. Also, not one but two spring loaded tabs to contend with for reassembly.
Fixed it. Had to glue down the ratchet. The pin not being all the way down was allowing it to slide back and forth. Its meant to be fixed and the arm moves around it.
>>11489514ey nicely done. I am annoyed that we have to clean up the messes of idiots, but I mean, would I do a better job in a toy factory? no. do I know anyone else who would? also no. The only real problem is that prices have gone up while quality's come down, but quality going down is basically inevitable unless skill and competence go up.
the number of consumers with no skills or desires or interests other than consuming has now outpaced the number of capable producers of content who have two thin dimes to rub together.
>>11489516I could definitely do the job. The real question is what are their output quotas.
>>11489307You're far from the only one there anon, this entire board is kind of dedicated to compulsive toy buyers. For me, the greatest joy of collecting is seeing figures from the same piece of media grouped together. That means if I'm collecting Beast Wars, then I'm buying every Beast Wars figure to complete the set. Others are a bit more discriminating in their purchases and buy based on quality of toy itself. I admire the restraint of those people, but I don't mind if I occasionally get a lousy toy like Kingdom Rhinox as part of the bargain. When standing together, each toy is greater than the sum of their individual parts. Together...they are all one.
I'm going to call it right now, Optimus gets an upgraded form in cyberworld that becomes a larger grimlock-sized toy for the smaller figures to interact with. it's either going to be based off prime beast hunters Optimus or star Convoy.
>>11489539yeah I can see that. but my shelf has been a bit of compromise. I have classic Inferno on display with Legacy Inferno's improved head (and some paint). I have T30 Rhinox because he's the best, and T30 Rattrap AND Kingdom Rattrap because basically the two of them need to fusion dance into the perfect in-scale toy.. I have Scorponok up but with the upgrade kit for his fucking legs, and I would really happily buy a new redone one if someone made it at the right scale, but kept the same Kingdom aesthetic of fixing his goofy cartoon lobster altmode from the show/original toy. I have both original and new Tigerhawk up because the original feels like a different guy. It's all about what feels good on your shelf, right?
>>11489130If it helps, the commanders will never go on sale and will be scalped, has happen to every commander.

>>11489675>Predakingthat's fucking awesome. I would love Predaking even if it will be a frame because i missed the big one
>stick sliced in half animals to the sides of robot>the legs one are not even visible because they will be on the back>wow combiner!Still better than not having Predaking at all
>>11489357What i hate the most about frame combiners is that you might as well just buy the arm-ones.
Because legs are just fine without combiner parts.
So it's just 3 robots - frame + 2 arm ones.
You won't see the back leg transformers and they will be without any transformation different than a vehicle mode anyways
Why in the world did they not mold the top of Sky-Byte's head the same blue color as the rest of the toy? The transformation is tight around the head, you risk scrapping the paint when transforming it. The paint is also easy to remove, just a light scratch with your nail will remove it.
>>11489681Might as well bring this up, for those who dislike SB not having a traditional spark crystal, the jewel on the chest is a separate piece so a third party might do something.
>>11489681>The paint is also easy to remove, just a light scratch with your nail will remove it.I can say this about a lot of modern figures and I don't even have long nails or man handle my figures. Seeing small paint chips triggers my inner ocd.
>>11489684It's annoying, I have to be extremely careful with painted areas all the time since you never know which figures have shit paint application.
>>11489680>>11489680>>the legs one are not even visible because they will be on the back>You won't see the back leg transformers That has nothing to do with the frame system you retards. lol i was wondering what part of the new Perceptor is gangmolded with Ramhorn, turns out it's the main front and back torso pieces. Guess this Ramhorn's stuck with Perceptor for good.

You think this can't be done because....?
>>11489890Anon
They absolutely could, Nowhere did I say they couldn't or side with the statement that they couldn't
I was saying the "hiding legs on the back" is a large reason why people hate Frame slop and makes getting 3/5 the real stop for Combiners
They purposefully release one Arm/One Leg to stall this so you don't get the full top and call it a day
It pushes you to buy a leg bot and then you cope and go "oh well I'm 3/5, Might as well complete the team"
Just for two to sit on the back of the legs and barely visible
The 3P Part that's the two Peg holes and bar is popular for that reason
You can spend less, get two parts and plug em to "complete" legs
>>11489911>autists screech that a toy has a bad backpack and nobody looks like a toy just from front on>same autists screech you'll never see the cars on the back on the legs because you'll only look at toys from front on
>>11489700>That's how Menasor and Superior always looked going back to their G1 to-ACK!
>>11489911>I was saying the "hiding legs on the back" is a large reason why people hate Frame slopThen those people are all retards because having the leg bots placed that way is not something inherently related with these using a frame. Theyr'e designed that way because that's just how Superion and Menasor have always looked. If the top of the vehicles had always been on the front, they would have designed the frame so these attach on the front. This is a matter of following the original design, not a result of using a frame. So blaming the frame is fuckin stupid.
>>11489918>using the original toy as an example when the Legacy one is clearly inspired by the cartoon lookAt this point you should also critizice that Legacy Menasor doesn't a box behind his head, his arms connected to thin rods, and fists on his waist.
>>11489920>having the leg bots placed that way is not something inherently related with these using a frameYes it fucking is
The frame ONLY allows for back facing placement, Combiner Wars and PCC didn't have this Issue
ENERGON didn't have this issue
The "you MUST have them back facing" is literally just from the new Combiner Frame set up
I'm done entertaining this. Somebody get this mentally disabled child out of here
>>11489928That toy is why he has robot greebles on the front of the legs instead of cars.

>>11489357>>11489365I couldn't comfortably go on on the new Superion because I went out of my way to buy the UW set when it was reissued years ago, AND had to frankenstein parts of the G2 PE upgrade set with parts of the nonworking KO G1 set just to get a working head, it was too much work to justify spending money on something I wasn't crazy about look-wise since u genuinely like the look the upgraded CW/UW design more.

it's not that the legs are stubby, it's that (again, in older restorations) the torso was made ludicrously long. it was such a dumb look, snub nose, torso a mile long, stub tail. I have no idea why they did that for so long.

>>11490624i've always heard it said that for this effect, you would cut holes in the background, and.... is that even really possibly what you did? For one thing that would take so long it would make painting cels feel like hitting the flood fill on a modern computer. secondly, the glows go OVER magnus, so what, in those frames he also had unpainted holes in his cels? and the background doesn't look to be shifting at all in the way you'd expect if it were photocopied 22 times per second, each time with a different carefully-placed hole cut out of it...
surely these things were chroma keyed in. A moving transparent backlit hole sure, but a hole in pure black, so it could be superimposed.
>>11490552Damn, wish I'd waited to get them at this price. They're both good figures though, I'd definitely get them on discount while they're available.
Stupid thought, but I kept remembering how Bumblebee is no longer getting upgraded into Goldbug in recent years, only having done so in Marvel G1 and G2. Should they bring that name back if Bumblebee ever ranks up, he should be called "Goldbug Prime" instead. Maybe to give extra impact to the Goldbug name.
>>11490746I think Bumblebee is just too recognizable of a name for the transformers brand at this point. If anything it wouldn't surprise me if they just made Goldbug into a separate character.
>>11490476Im not gonna lie it took me until just now to realize God Magnus was a Godbomber homage. It should have been obvious but I just... never thought about it
>>11490750Yep, transformers has always been referencing things, like Car Robots referencing Beast Wars with several things, and G1 manga. Armada has plenty, like Jetfire being a Galaxy Shuttle homage, and the combined vehicle mode of Jetfire, Overload and Prime being a Battle Stars homage referencing their combine vehicle mode

anons i just found that Bruticus despite being frame will be different than superion and plane-bro because his legs will be reversed so we will see both vehicles on front.
I just want to be sure that hasbro wont cuck me with releasing some "better" version later (like with differet colors or something like that)
I never had Bruticus but always wanted
>>11490798Do you prefer the toy colors? because they may be a seperate release.

>>11490746>>11490749Given that his stint as Goldbug was only temporary I don't think it matters, but I prefer GB = BB. He goes back to Bee as a pretender, If he became Prime, Bombinus Prime or some such would be a good name imo. I think he'd still have his subordinates/comrades call him Bee anyway.

I now own the new Star Convoy and a copy of all the accesoeies because the used listing ended being a a box without the figure and Amazon told me to keep the first box. Not sure what I'll do with most of this stuff. If you put two trailers in the legs, you won't have a place to store the accesories(not that I'll store the rubber effects there).
>>11491604sell the micro trailer and micromaster Rodimus on eBay, I'm sure someone will bite. either that or you could try and make an interesting base mode diorama.
>>11491612I'm probably keeping the second Micro Trailer since it's still good for a display and the second Thread unit will stay since I leave the other permanently attached. But yeah, I'll sell Hot Rod, blast effects and maybe the second turret.
The shoulder guns are great, but their pegs are too long and they don't really work well anywhere else since Star Convoy lacks pegs most figures get so they end up on the Micro Trailers. Oh and the new Micro trailer can haul another trailer.
What's the best KO g1 megatron with the old transformation?
>>11491555I haven't had a chance to really mess with it also comparing and apparently yea this is a scaled down version. So it'll be funny to compare with UW when that arrives

I don't care what others think, UW with 3P kit is perfect nearly. Only weak one I'd say is Brawl cause the Tank mold is ehh
