Who made the best David Corenswet Superman?
Well with the release of the movie today, weโ€™ve seen a lot of different companies doing this Superman. Who does /toy/ think did the best job? Obviously thereโ€™s multiple factors, scale, cost, etc., so Iโ€™m sure a lot of people will have different opinions. I will say I donโ€™t think any company has really nailed the likeness, including the expensive options.

Thereโ€™s also the 1/4 NECA that was revealed today. If thereโ€™s any other companies I forgot, feel free to drop pics of them.

Yeah, I would agree that's my biggest disappoint in almost all of these. Some are decent captures, but they aren't good - whereas the McFart of Hoult as Lex, which I did grab at Best Buy, does look good.

>>11487154 (OP)
The HT stands does help things, but if I had to pick an import, it would be the SHF. I don't intend to buy any, at those price points, for the same reason I didn't get a Cavil - I don't like the uniform. I bought the SM because I was going to build the Robot, but I'd rather just wait for the Spinmaster action figure Heroes Vs. Villains 5-Pack to be remaindered and buy 5-8 of them at $5.99/7.99 a pop at Ross or Burlington to army build robots, even if they are 3 inchers.

They are the DC Superpowers (4.5" essentially 5POA) - they are a line that someone else did in the past, that McFarlane has been releasing since they had the contract. You can find them right now at GameStop or WalMart.

Out of everything pictured, McFarlane looks the best of the lower end stuff with probably the foundjoy in second place. The inart absolutely smoked the Hot toys and I do think it's very accurate to the real guh, but the face is a bit darker/intense/angry and they probably should have picked a happier expression.

>foundjoy
Neck down, it appears to be a good figure, and for the price, might be the best bet for the imports. But the face capture is not the second, much less the best, of the ones to match the actor.

Inart, for it's other problems, has the best face, IMHO. He's a good looking guy and a lot of these sculpts end up making him look goofy. And yes, some of the promo stills and shots from the movie do look like that - the trailer scene where they throw the can at him in the earlier part of the film, post the Krypton message reveal for example, or some of the flight promo stills. But just take any picture from any of his promo interviews or stills, and discount that he has the trim facial hair and the close crop haircut and you see NONE of the head sculpts really come close.

And take other, non-promo, stills from the movie, even stuff used in the trailers, and you also see this with him clean shaven and a full head of hair.

Fair enough but I'm not invested in this version enough to care to want to even get the McFarlane that comes with the extra face plates and the Krypto. If it was a traditional Krypto look, versus Gunn's PTSD rescue doggo look, or if I didn't really dislike Coronswet's suit as bulky ugly PJs, I might change my mind.

I liked Henry more and I didn't buy any of the imports of him either even when the MEZCO knock-off showed up on WalMart from the same Chinese factory that makes 'em for the Japanese.

>The proportions
Not to defend Todd McFarlane, because he's a terrible artist, even worse writer, and just awful as a toy maker or toy business owner, but that particular was actually supposed to mimic the S-TAS series models by Bruce Timm, and is essentially based, if I'm remembering it correctly, on the steel girder toy by, I want to say Hasbro, in the late 1980s or 1990s?

Which Curt Swan are you talking about? The older Kal-L from Earth Two version?
Anonymous No.11500101
>>11500065
Would have preferred something more like picrel for a Timm Superman. The skinny legs on that figure just look comical.
The Curt Swan figure Iโ€™m thinking of is the one that includes the goofy Silver Age swap out heads. Couldnโ€™t hold a candle to the DC Direct one (sculpted by Tony Cipriano who has the Swan Superman down to a science, heโ€™s sculpted figurines of him too).

I feel so conflicted about this costume the colors and the muscle definition and everything all the way up to the waist is perfect but then they do that ugly ass kingdom come logo on the cape thatโ€™s just a tad too long & the chest with the yellow out line & obviously the panel lining all over the shoulders is ugly as fuck bit from a distance when you just see the silhouette itโ€™s likeโ€ฆperfect I canโ€™t describe it

The colors are fine, the suit itself, especially seeing it in IMAX when you can see all the detail very clearly (we were in the 14th row from the screen) and the lines and 'piping' or 'detailing' - whatever you want to call it, even in action, are still distracting and far too busy and there doesn't seem to be a point to it, other than if Martha grew up in a double wide and thus has shit-taste, she didn't know better. In it's own way, the belt is distracting.
I agree that I am better with the suit not having excessive muscle padding so it doesn't have the heft and bulk that Batfleck suffered with, which you really noticed in those few scenes when he had taken the armor off and was in the 'undersuit' or whatever that was called.
