Do Kids Even Buy Toys Anymore?
I don't interact with children, but, I can't imagine parents buying 5poa star wars action figures for $10. Aside from big movie releases, I never see children anywhere. Even the Lego aisle is mostly adults now (sad).

I imagine these cheap roblox and video game tie-in toys do very well. However, I don't see children trying to buy a spiderman or batman or luke skywalker outside of 1 week after a movie.

However, i do see children buying hoardes of pokemon cards and funko pops. I remember when i was a kid, collectability was a huge deal so maybe thats the driving force behind toy purchasing decisions. I also saw one kid obsessed with hot wheels last week while i was strolling. I imagine he'll become a member of /toy/ eventually. Either that or /auto/.

So outside of birthday parties, do kids even buy toys anymore? If you were to give a 7 year old $20 what would they buy?

Yes. Some of them aged poorly because they groomed minors.

I still see them throw tantrums near the toy aisles. Kids still like toys, but the only reason we see them with ipads is because parents use it too.

Nope. High prices have forced working-class parents out of the market.

>How the fuck does someone become a celebrity in roblox?
Content theft, like the rest of the internet, both making tiktok memes and theft of code, art, characters, or whatever to make games or cosmetics. If you are a parent, it's important to understand Roblox today is nearly indistinguishable from Second Life in culture. The final nail of feigned ignorance is the platform doesn't currently allow adult dating, but the company keeps flirting with the idea and brings it up at least once a quarter now.
>Do they seriously make toys for roblox celebrities?
It was a good idea on paper since they retain a license to whatever you upload and was a cheap way to fill out blind box rosters. But the predictable happened >>11494267 and they silently cancelled the toyline before the emerging pattern of ip theft and pedophiles got any worse. You only see toys for individual Roblox games today because the devs themselves flock to PhatMojo without Roblox's involvement.

From what I've seen, they still like toys when given them, but with rising toy prices, parents are buying significantly fewer toys for them and instead just giving them a tablet or smart phone at much younger ages than the past. Tablets especially have just become the go to way to make your kid leave you alone. Last I heard 40% of kids have a tablet by two and 60% by four. Then the parents that give it to them will be surprised when their raised on YouTube child has attention span issues and can barely read.

Hasn't the pattern of pedos, theft, gambling, roleplay server, etc. servers gotten worse and Roblox's response is to basically shrug and pretend they don't notice?

I'm going to be an old man and blame social media for thinking it's *only* adults. Infants aren't posting as much as teens and adults, so Tonka and Fisher Price aren't getting as noticed. Leap Frog still exists, so someone is buying the infant toys.

Obviously, the adults are buying more, but the kid market does seemingly still exist

I'm guessing the second hand market and hand-me-downs would also be eating into the sales of new toys. Kids don't really care if a toy is new or old and old toys are so easy to get cheaply these days.

Woo buddy, have you not been paying attention to the reseller market at all? Fucks like froggy flips have made the entire secondary market much harder to find good deals because every two bit wanna be faggot making a name for themselves off their hobby scalp and raise up the prices just to earn an easy pay day while fucking anyone up the ass.

It's probably just specific toys and lines that are in demand by collectors. I see shit like generic unclothed barbies or 10-20 year old crappy marvel figures for the dirt cheap all the time.

Because when you're doing it on roblox or discord you can play the long game by winning trust, establishing friendship and so on, typically there's less parental supervision too.

It's a game known for being played mostly by children, that allows for direct interaction with children.
It's that simple.
It honestly should work like one of those old online games where you can only say specific phrases with in-game context, so being a creep isn't even an option.

Don't know if you're joking or not, but round /toy/? Six inch is king. It's the only size of toy that matters. Go ahead laugh, but you know deep down it's what makes up the majority of sales state wide and reminas the king of the industry to this day.

Hi, I am a Roblox dev who helped design a handful of these and had their avatar turned into a figure.

"Celebrity" is what they called their "female" line of figures for some reason. The branding was gold compared to red, and the boxes were blue, purple, sparkly.

They would take ideas from an invite-only group called Stars from developers who could submit ideas and concepts for figures from their games. The issue is, not a lot of Roblox games have iconic characters so a lot of them were just generic players or tropes to fit with the theme. Some did though like Robot 64 and Heroes of Robloxia. This line lasted from 2018 - 2023 before Roblox decided to release everybody from their contracts and let developers take merch into their own hands, which is funny, because a lot of us do not have industry contacts and are left to figure out how to make merch of our own games. Jazwares still does Roblox toys but Roblox does not want any association with merch so Adopt Me and others get toys and shitty things like "DEVSERIES"

It was a good way to make money and the royalty checks helped me through college. I do miss the figures, though, even if the quality wasn't great. It's nice to have a figure of my own avatar.

I see kids cajoling their mothers to buy toys in Targets nearly every time I just walk into that section to see if there's anything new or something on clearance. It's only by the collectors area (near Entertainment/Electronics), which is usually filthy with Funkos and NECA shit, and plushies, that you don't see kids but see the fedora set with their current girlfriends
