I live in a Lego and food desert (surrounded by crops) in the Midwest. The nice thing is there are three small cities within 45 min that have a traditional 90s style Walmart and usually life necessitates going to one of them to acquire goods and services. I also like to cruise to clear my head.
The toys are always a mess but that means I can usually find a deal or something put out on the floor before it should be.
I’ve also had decent luck in heavily urban areas (again the toy section is a nightmare but that’s what you’re looking for). Is there a Walmart you wouldn’t go to normally because of… reasons? Go in the middle of the month after EBT has run out during off peak hours and you should be fine.

If the Pokemon Presents on Tuesday doesn’t talk about the upcoming Lego sets of 2026 then I’m going to shit myself and make (You) clean it up.

No, I'm in California, so it's more jeets and spics than nogs. Which, y'know, not a fan, but I guess they're not as overtly disruptive. Although one of the Walmarts does have all their Lego (and pretty much everything else) in locked cases, so there's clearly still some Crime-American element at play. Which is also a big reason I don't like that store, because it's predictably understaffed and so even if I do find something good there I can't get anywhere else I'm really not motivated to wait 20 minutes for a worker to show up with the key.

How do you guys display your sets/MOCs? I'd like glass cabinets since I don't have to worry as much about dust, but they also need to be easily accessible (i.e. doors) so I can easily take them out to play with them. Picrel (not mine, just a random example) isn't really ideal since there's not much horizontal space and I want to be able to group like sets together and also make some scenes (for example, I have a few boats and fishing themed sets, so I'd like to make a small coastal town). UV damage is also a concern since the room they'd be in has windows.

I have seen arguments that "old lego was soulful because it was simpler and you could rebuild things easier. now things are too complex and it's really hard to build something on par with the box build."
I found that argument pretty compelling until I started paying more attention to the 4+ sets. They are simpler and look pretty fun. Would you say they meet that specific aspect of playability? Let me know if I should get one to check

Whipped up this imperial police gunship MOC based on an alternate build for the dropship vs scout speeder battleback since I grabbed one on sale for $26. -developed the Lego bug lately, honestly shocked at just how shit modern Lego Star wars has become. Picked up a couple sealed 2012-2014 sets for good prices, think I'll get the R2D2 since it's a cool build and has Malik, but that's literally it for me. Hopefully Lego does something cool next year, coruscant build would be an instant buy for me even if the minifigs are shit. Realistically do you guys think they can redeem themselves? I don't really give a shit about the price hikes, I'll buy overpriced sets if they fix the minifigs and bring back 2010s clones.
