1/12 Tron figures would be pretty cool.

better quality Identity Discs would be sick, never liked that the Legacy ones had to be modified to look like they were from the movie. Would also hope Hasbro goes above and beyond and makes a magentic holster for it as well

Im all in on classic TRON figs. But is this gonna be like Indy Jones and not be available anywhere and only available at OLLIES?

They really gotta slap the big ugly Disney logo on top of the Tron logo huh

So assuming they will make figures, do you think they will try to replicate the glowing of the suit or just bland neon lines like the last ML Big Time Spider-Man?

At LEAST Tron stuff looks cool even without movies.
Too bad it's the Leto POS set mostly in the real world with game stuff appearing that's getting most focus.

There's this youtuber that goes to the stores to chronicle woke toys, he was at the Target looking over the star wars figures and he says "Let's just cut out the foreplay and send all this shit to Ollies"

I'd kill for some actually good Legacy and Uprising figures though. The problem is that they won't be good and they'll probably be Ares garbage.

Please no. Tron is a vehicle heavy property and works best in 3.75".

>probably be Ares garbage
The teaser image implicitly shows the logos from the original movie and Legacy, not Ares. Hasbro probably doesn't have much faith in the new film, so they're starting with products from the films they know fans like. If the line ends performing well, and Ares is well recieved, I can see them doing toys from it later, but right now it's pretty clear Ares is on the backburner.

Nah, but Hasbro better copy the blacklight paint and matte finish like these. These were suppose to glow under black lights as their gimmick.

RETRO GAMING. I have a retro gaming desktop from 2000 that has a floppy drive. Also USB floppy drives are super cheap and I have one of those too. I keep floppy disks around so I can update firmware on old 16/32-bit systems.
Anonymous No.11510339

Adding to this, there are a lot of old synthesizers / samplers that use floppy disks and many of them have parallel ports for external drives, including external floppy drives.

But not exactly rare either. Retro gaming is super popular and lots of people still have old computers in their houses. Shit, most of the regular people I know are using computers over a decade old as their main, let alone all the businesses that are running old hardware (and computers running XP are still a thing).

That sounds complicated and impractical compared to just emulating.

Oh no, you just gave them Pulse exclusive ideas.... it'll be $300 for that
Anonymous No.11511725 >>11511751
>>11511701
Just to restate the original point, floppy disks are way more common than most people think. Moving on to retro gaming, yes emulators are great, but there are entire classes of games that don't run on emulators. For a while I was running a virtual machine of Win98 just to play one game and it never quite worked as well as hardware, which is why I keep hardware around. And circling back to Tron toys -- I don't really care about them. I only think a small percentage of them are cool.
Anonymous No.11511731
Cool but I fucking hate Hasbro after the last 5 years of price hikes and lightning collection and terrible quality...I'll probably buy it anyways I fucking love Tron it's the coolest shit ever god damn it...

My ultimate cope/hope is that they do Tron Uprising. It had the best style and story of any Tron media.
Anonymous No.11511751
>>11511725
That's fair, I still defend anyone who asks about owning floppy drives. Moving on too, the fact that they used floppy's at least let's us know who Hasbro's intended audience is
Anonymous No.11512139 >>11525118
>>11511732
The fact that Uprising didn't even have a basic toyline is ludicrous. The stylized character designs were practically begging to become figures.
Anonymous No.11512720
I do find it strange that all they did was this tease for the line, you'd think they'd have something ready to show since the new movie is releasing in a few months

Everything spinmasters did with legacy basically ensured disney wouldnt touch it for the next decade. Prioritizing gimmicks and electronics over decent toy representations of characters never works out well.

Does anyone have any faith in this new Tron movie? I sincerely expect it to be a kraven/morbius tier nothingburger. I dont get why they didnt just dust off the Legacy sequel scripts.

>I dont get why they didnt just dust off the Legacy sequel scripts.
Either some weird legal issue with rights to the scripts or not modern (read: shit) enough. Which is a shame, I thought Legacy was honestly pretty good.
not the guy you replied to No.11525443 >>11525569

Legacy is what got me into Tron to begin with (well moreso Uprising, thought Legacy was a bit shit when I first saw it, but I grew to appreciate it after Uprising). Tons of people compare it to Star Wars Sequels vs The Original Trilogy

I re-watched the original Tron for the first time since I probably saw it on G4 (man I miss "Movies That Don't Suck" so hard) and what struck me the hardest was how unabashedly goofy it was and in a very fun way
Anonymous No.11525455

When people say "new Tron movie" all anybody wants is a continuation to Legacy. All this time later and they asspull this vidya character comes to the real world plot. It's sub-sony tier garbage writing. They're making Pixels and Jumanji look like high art.

Their entire run of ill-fated blockbusters riding on the hype of star wars were honestly really fun. The Black Hole is a great watch if you havent seen it already.

Semi-related but they're working on this Monster Jam movie with Dwayne Johnson, and from the moment it was announced, all I could think is how much more entertaining a buddy cop movie with the Rock and Herbie the love bug could have been.

I liked the 3.75" figures/vehicles, and the Identity Discs were solid. I don't think the light up gimmick impaired those. I just wish the planned figures could have been released.
