The Godzilla figures are apparently $15.99 and out in October. The McF stuff might be out later this year. I think one slide said "Winter," at least for the second wave.

The only good figure of the bunch is Smash. It's the only one that really sticks the landing. The rest feel like major asspulls. Smash is obviously MPM + Slash, but the rest dont have that. Atleast not as obviously as Smash. You could make the argument that Conants and Rabid Robin are referencing the Conan the Adventurer and Costner Robin Hood lines respectively, but they certainly dont communicate that in their designs.

oh and people are also not terribly fond of the low accessory count, the different scale (in case you wanted your 2k3 turtles to meet your regular playmates-styled ones, for some reason), and the imperfect way the show's style was adapted (which, in fairness, was probably impossible to get perfect)

There's also a spot under the armpits with the shell presses into the underarm, causing it to scuff/dent overtime. I already went in on the second wave just for Shredder, but I don't think even I can stomach the third wave with the price hike. Really wish they'd just pivoted to playmates-styled things that are not the old toys exactly. They wanted to give us the other punk frogs, fuckin go for it. I kind of like that they did Karai, but I think her design should have leaned closer to Mirage than to 2003 with that design (especially if they end up doing an actual 2003 Karai, which might end up feeling too similar). And I do hate that they feel they NEED to have a turtle in damn near every wave. They really needed to cut back on all the turtle variants.

I think the mindset Playmates went into it with was Super7 was creating a competing product with the vintage re-releases and the early plans for a remastered line. That's why it took a while before they started shutting them down, they weren't planning to get into a remastered line at first but after seeing the first few Ultimates waves sales they got the green eye and decided that they were no longer going to let S7 use their old notes. Of course Playmates ultimately failed to deliver a product for the same market, but that's inevitable with their ineptitude.
