A metal frame has never made sense to me, except maybe for super high end MG or PG kits. You're spending more money on an inner frame than on the entire original kit itself. If you need reinforcement parts like hips or shoulders, those come in plastic too.

Asked in last thread:
What is the recommendation when topcoating the more clear, softer plastic that is used for things like beam sabers, the Denial Gundam's "hair" or the wings from Shin Burning? Normally I'm gloss first, panel line/paint, matte. But matte seems like it would fuck with the look of these plastics?
Anonymous No.11515698 [Report]
>>11515673
for the transluscent pieces i like gloss only. make it even shinier and usually that fits well. matte will make it a bit milky. try it out on a runner

You new here? These threads are dead and suck because everyone expects and reacts that every single person should be only creating perfect Bandai World Gunpla Tournament kits. Why do you think no one posts their actual kits here? Its all just a few grumpy ass people who instead of giving constructive criticism, would rather be assholes. Why make such cool original kits and put them behind a wall like that?!
Seriously, they put p-bandai in France (the only country in Europe, like if you were in Belgium, they wouldn't deliver because...?)
and they only made 5 kits available, in very few copies. It stood for 2 years and I only saw 8 different kits in total, not even a Gundam Rose. I had to import it when damn, it was supposed to be THE Gundam of France.

You know, I'm honestly kind of surprised that they haven't restocked the Nataku or Crossbone Full Cloth waterslides in all this time, those have to be up there for popularity, especially given Full Cloth's semi-recent reprint and it being Wing's 30th anniversary.

Kind of sucks having my waterslide purchases being held back because I'm waiting for enough shit to get reprinted that I can buy enough of it in bulk. But what the hey, not like I'm going to have the time to be building all this stuff any time soon.

And here's what it looks like.

As you can see the finish is smoother than regular UV Cut Flat (GX113) and it is very similar to Flat Smooth (GX114).
Which means it can be used for things like final coat on figures as a replacement for GX114 (which has been out of stock a lot lately), but it's not really a replacement for the regular flat coat.

Stalk Hobby Lobby and wait for it to get in stock there, and buy it for $51 during a 40% off week. You might have to pay $55 instead due to inflation and tariffs, but it's certainly better than paying $70.

As for quality, it's head and shoulders better than the old MG Wing Zero Custom. Besides coming with a free Action Base 1, the engineering is significantly better, it comes with the shield for the transformation mode (which the original MG couldn't even do), and the Twin Buster Rifles can fold to store them in the wings. It's very feature rich and pretty damn awesome.

Speaking of I've been using the glass file I bought on recommendation here for a few weeks now. Naturally my first use was on a kit that had a similar problem with putting gates either between raised details or in cramped spots that are visible when assembled. I ended up just scraping at them with my knife perpendicular to the kit and hoping for the best.

As for the files themselves I really like them. I got the three pack of stedi files and as anon predicted the lowest grit has gotten barely any use. I regret not paying a little extra to buy three separately and get the file that tapers to a point instead of the lowest grit file.
Overall they've made sanding an entire kit so much faster and without as much effort to keep an area smooth and free of scratches. There was a small learning curve as unlike sanding sticks or sponges the sides aren't also a sanding surface and I left a few marks from pressing too hard or not completely flat.
Also I was a little worried about having unclog them constantly as I've seen people complain but I've just been giving them a quick clean with a stiff bristled nail brush and they get cleared out within a couple strokes.

replacing those plastic details with metal ones is possibly the easiest thing to do and learn with at least
literally just drill out a little hole with a pin vise and stick the metal piece into the hole with a tiny dab of glue
you could even drill out the holes before sanding everything flat and drill through the plastic details using them to center your holes so you don't have to measure anything to have them all line up properly

So I haven't built gunpla since like 2017, and am looking to get back into the hobby. I have a bunch of MG kits in my backlog I wanna work on, but the main reason I stopped was because my eyes had some issues and I'm pretty visually impaired now. I have tools now though that should let me work on gunpla again though and I wanna get back into it so I grabbed myself the HG Wing Zero for $18 to get my feet wet again. I built mainly MGs back in the day. My question though is, do I need to buy new Gundam Markers or should the ones I already still be fine? They were stored safely with the cap on in a temperature controlled environment. I guess I could just rest them out but I'm waiting for the kit to come in before I dig out all my gear. Also, I've been using my nippers for random shit over the years, they're Tamiya, one of their nicer ones, and they still work well. Are God Hands still the go to nippers though if I do end up wanting to replace them?

The only part that doesn't like to stay together is one of the chest plates, and I'm not sure why. Also while there aren't many extra parts (hand, stand adapter for gun, base slot panel), the custom stand does hold it all. It's not as cool as the Messala's stand, though cause that even holds the beam sabers as well as all the interchangeable and partsformation parts. More kits should come with cool stands.

What I've also just realized is that now all my HGs are finished. It's a strange feeling. Kinda want to go seeing my hobby shop has a Gaplant or Habrambi, but at the same time I have some other stuff in my backlog I should work on. A few RGs, a few MGs, a ver ka, and a couple HMM Zoids, which are basically MGs.

I have some 144 scales migs and Gundam stuff

I'm going to try to paint them
But I really confused about the nozzles and vents

With gunpla they usually have the inside of nozzles and vents painted red with black for the center to emulate how jet engine besides the actual nozzle, the hole without any light is just a black hole

But if we actually shrink the real thing down to 144 scale, would the black part even be noticeable or it would be part of the red when you see it through human eyes?

So my question is do we even need to paint the black parts for vents and nozzles?
