It's not a theory, it's an outright fact that there are different teams working on GI Joe than Marvel Legends. Joes also have the luxury of being designed in more recent years so they have more modern articulation schemes, meanwhile even with newer designed MLs they still need to feel consistent with what came before so they're kind of forced to keep using the more antiquated engineering to keep the line consistent. Just kind of comes with the territory of a long running toy line.

When they initially went up they were $24.99 but then Amazon bumped them up to $27.99 when they sold out and were restocked. I do both, though I don't buy statues anymore as I they take up a lot of space. I'd say that both have merits. I like figures for taking up less space and being able to fit in a much wider variety of poses, I've had statues where i love them for a year or two but grow tired of them over time. Typically smaller scale statues are much lower quality as well, a comparative prices legends figure is going to be almost always better than its comparably priced statue.

I have some statues here and there and while they're nice to look at, I prefer figures since I can pose them how I like and do toy photography work them. You are really limited on the photos you can't take of a statue whereas with figures, you have many more options. I do think however there are a fairly large sunset of users here that should just switch to statues and move on. The ones that complain constantly about proportions, coomers, secondaries that don't really care that much about the source material, all of these kinds of people could benefit from just getting a statue and moving on. If you really care about the comics and want to world build an entire Marvel Universe, then MLs and other figs are for you. While you may like the sculpt, the way the articulation works is pretty shitty. Her thin limbs make it a little annoying to balance her properly, and only having wind swept hair is kind of shitty. The problem is more Disney/Marvel has to give approval. This is why many prototype says "Pending Licensor Approval". Mid-range collector items (ML is considered mid-range mass product, it is not $3k statue, it is not $6 low end walmart kids toy either) constitute a miniscule amount of money for the licensor - Disney/Marvel portfolio.
