I would agree with you normally like the decision on what design to use. Except this time the AY looks nothing like anything. Yeah it is based on a certain comic book suit but that one is still a smooth spandex looking suit. Differences from the cartoon suit are mostly the eyes. Where do you think all that mechanical crap comes from? Kaiyodo lists any kind of creative contribution on their boxes. Yamaguchi is the only one there so guess what he came up with how the AY looks and that's what we're talking about.

I get Ninja Gaiden hasn’t had many figures and that the designs are pretty cool. But the games aren’t that popular to warrant this many releases… the first Ryu sold well enough, but not everyone is gonna want every version.

They're sort of done with those I believe. The Disney stuff seemed more tied with Kenelephant distribution and now that Kaiyodo is handling everything on their own they seem to have had a hard stop. The few new ones we got, Zurg and Sally, felt like unreleased backlog from before being supporting characters of very old previous releases. The reissues stopped once a ton of new Revos were announced.

There's multiple NG games slated this year in an attempted revival, so they gotta strike while the iron's hot. I also feel like even if you're not a big NG fan, there's room on most people's shelves for a cool ninja. So it doesn't hurt to pump out different Ryus as long as they have unique costumes and weapons.

No it's also the Pixar subline. They only did one per IP, really cherry picked them. 2 of them have regular Revo counterparts though. There is a smaller Revo Woody out there without the creep face. Kaiyodo moved away from creatures for a while now even though that was one of their strengths. Even MH or YGO they stopped and stuck yo humanoids. The horse they did a while ago was amazing but didn't do similar concepts later. Takeya had the dragon and kirin too but I get it Takeya stuff is technically not BY Kaiyodo more like outsourced. Not to mention REVO GEO. AB had that dragonid thing that never came out. We never got a clear picture of the prototype which is insane. I assume it was designed for a dragon mode.

You're probably thinking of one of Bandai's. They had the gashapon series then they did a premium version that were better painted but I think they added new ones later as well. I'm pretty sure THAT practically killed GEO.

GEO that were never shown were Tyrannosaurus Skeleton, Praying Mantis and Mantis Shrimp. Crayfish was shown but never got to release.

Sure Yugi is "okay" but when you compare it to the S.H. Figuarts you can see some shortcomings...and losing anime sculpting to Figuarts is pretty shameful. Bandai has all the money and means to bring better quality for the price so the only way to win is skill. Losing the skill battle too then what's the point. On top of that it's the result of not utilizing the sculptor's true talents.

I thought they looked inaccurate for the longest time and only recently started to nail the Toriyama art style. Meanwhile other departments did better sculpts that nailed the look more so, even when they're smaller in scale. Hell even Bandai America did a better job on some of them for sculpting, minus the factor those were made cheaper for younger targets.

And that's their best efforts. Nowadays it's hit and miss and I'm not entirely sure if it's due to simple outsourcing. But you miss the point it's not about how good Bandai is at sculpting, EVERYONE ELSE NEEDS TO BE BETTER TO COMPETE. Because you can't really win on other aspects unless they fuck up a production.

I'm curious how the Falcom ones will turn out, working off of an older era of JRPG art style. Also is this the first time we have Revoltechs based on JRPG? Not sure MH counts. I guess technically they do but more focused on online play and being action game I don't categorize them that way in the traditional JRPG way.

Maoji isn't perfect either. The Blue Archive looks a little off and that seems to be a common reception. Sakamoto on the other hand I don't think he fucked up faces so far. He rarely works outside of AY though.

Yeah they started it a lot early than that with Woody maybe? in 2010. The gimmick was mostly for big eyeballs characters like Disney Revos but became somewhat the standard for regular eyes from Toyohisa or so.

That batman got several problems like the proportions. The head, body and legs aren't that bad really. They're no different from Winter Soldier or Agent Venom. But the arms throws the balance off. Agent Venom is a good example of how it should've been perhaps. But game Batman have these floating shoulder pads and the the shoulder joints aren't placed the optimal way? The arms look out of place. They're not really bigger than Agent Venom's either but thy look bigger.
