Are you looking for a collander or a "Mesh" collander? Cus I cook I use a collander for like pasta. Get rid of waster FAST and I can shake/toss it around and drop that shit back in the pot with some butter. A mesh collander I use when I need to strain something slow like removing pulp or stems/seeds/small bits. For Lego I actually just use a large lightweight deep bowl and I slowly drain the water with my hand in a sink with a plug so those 1x1 studs don't disappear. Mesh collander would definitely be useful.

I take the metal and stuff that floats to the top out first, and some of the most valuable, use dawn dish soap but any without any plastic destroyers can do, let it soak and stir occasionally to let new stuff get closer to the top, the hard part is sorting it for drying and/or finding some of the parts you know you need in there, so there’s not much of a method besides having a good drain here

Started work on a new metal gear ray inspired mech. Skeleton of the legs is done, and I really like how the feet turned out. Not liking how the head looks, but it's hard to get the overall concept of ray's head with legos, while being able to have a minifig pilot and also keeping the size/weight down

I really like how the "wings" turned out. The missile pods are from s discounted botanical set I picked up. I want to think of other ways to use the pieces in those sets since they're interesting.

Also gotta figure out color scheme. Got a lot of tan and orangish brown pieces, but I want to give it a mix of tech looking parts and more organic looking parts with smooth slopes, just like the actual ray

Sadly true, but there's also a logic to it. Legos are by their very nature atomized fungible parts. If there's a retired set I want, I can always just build it myself assuming I already have the same pieces. But the minifigs are something that you can't just cobble together from your own lego bin. Of course there are exceptions, rare or discontinued pieces or colors can make that harder to do, and there are also exclusive printed pieces (fewer and fewer of those these days though) but you get the overall point.
