Since no one else was doing it. And before someone bitches about the thread imade, I wanted to use PICREL for the OP post but wasn't sure if the board had rules about shilling or advertising for a specific company, since no one else seems to ever really do it, I felt best not to risk the entire thread and forcing everyone to deal with the usual BS.

Also, I could find nothing about Deathstroke at InArt so I deleted that. And I couldn't find anything about Metreon being in stores (or shipping out to people) ....

It isn't as functional as Todds. These cannot bend 180 degrees at the elbow or knee like many of Todd's double jointed figures can. They don't have even pseudo butterflies to get extra range there. He was a super atheist black science man then his wife died so he was going to kill himself but the Spectre showed up. He told Michael (Mr. Terrific) about the original Mr. Terrific, Terry Sloane. Terry was a millionaire but not a pedophile so he became a superhero after stopping a suicide. He also created the "Fair Play Club" an after school program to combat delinquency. Unfortunately, cause he wasn't a pedophile, he was murdered by the ghost of a satanic serial killer. I hope that clears things up.

That's fine. Most double joints aren't that beneficial because the sculpt of the figure just runs into itself usually before the full range of the joint is used. You can get almost the same range with single joints provided the cuts are deep enough and you get the benefit of not having awful looking gaps if the person who cut the joints sucks at it. Like most of the recent McFarlane figures or those BST AXN TMNT ones.
Anonymous No.11540920

Picked up the new Digital Batman and desu he's a wreck.
The lack of a wire in the cape (despite the seam being there and perfectly fit to hold one) leaves you basically no posing options other than "standing there" or "hanging up side down unconscious." He feels WAY lighter than any of my other Batman figs (pictured), almost hollow, and imo the face sculpt looks very "toy". Joints feel a bit loose as well.
I know you get some NFT thing nobody gives a shit about, but for the extra price above the usual DC Multiverse pricing, this feels like a ripoff.
I don't expect "much" out of McFarlane. They aren't Mafex or SHF or something, but come on.

I agree with you on the cape issue but the other complaints don't resonate with me... he seemed about as heavy as my other figures when I posed him doing a flying kick and threw him on a flight stand, but maybe they removed some material from inside the abdomen or thighs or something? I did feel like I was getting way more ab crunch and thigh pivot than usual, with the thighs rotating 150+ degrees and the ab crunch being good enough for the belt to almost touch the bottom of the chest cut.

Superman

Start 3 years into Superman’s career

Start the film on krypton with him being launch as the planet blows up
Then cut to a montage of his life starting with the Kent’s finding him,his childhood, teenage years, discovering his powers, finding the fortress of solitude, moving to the city, getting a job, meeting Lois and them dating and a handful of adventures like fighting different villains

Him fighting a giant monster is part of it at the end and Superman is knocked into orbit by it that when it goes from the montage to real time

Superman flys back to find the justice gang killing the monster.

A Luthorcorp employee put a hair Superman lost in the battle into a vile while Superman argues with the justice gang

Ultraman gets created in the movie from that hair

Lex sends ultraman to fight Superman. For the first time ever Superman bleeds. He’s forced to crash land at the fortress. Lex was tracking him and now he knows where it’s at.

Lex stages the conflict in the other country to distract Superman while he goes to the fortress with ultraman. That’s where he finds out about kryptonite.

Superman is now in hot water for stopping a war.

Clark confesses that he is Superman to Lois out of frustration and he gives Superman side of things in an interview

He turns himself in the next day and gets imprisoned by lex. He uses mattalo to make artificial kryptonite to keep Superman weak.

Lex sends ultraman out in Superman’s suit to be bad and further ruin his reputation

Fights justice gang

Overtime ultraman starts to mutate from the cloning being imperfect becoming a more classic looking deformed bizzaro Superman down to his speech because his mental capabilities also declined

Its hard to say given what mattel makes at the moment. I think origins has been awesome up until recently, im just not into these cross overs, i think the wwe figures are good but with the face scanning it can be hit or miss, charlotte flair being an example of a miss but overall i think both the basic and elite figures have solid articulation but obvioisly the elites are much better than basic. Masterverse has been a solid line, decent everything and a fair value overall.
So id say masterverse is this better line to use as a gauge of what the dc line could be. I dont want masterverse sized figures though. Idk, just my thoughts on the matter.

DCUC was samebuck: the line, and their multiverse line that came after was really half-assed and uninspired. I think their WWE figures are hideous but probably not relevant to what they might do with DC. those New Eternia figures look fine, if the DC stuff were like that I think we would probably be okay.
so it’s hard to say. people bitch endlessly about Todd’s distribution, but I guess they weren’t there for the Giganta wave. or the Matty Collector bullshit. they’ll at least be in the toy aisle, for whatever that’s worth.

Dc license isn’t expensive and Mattel paid for it but they weren’t the highest bidder. DC chose them. They want dc products everywhere. Boys, girls, toddler and adults. They aren’t going to be held back because of licensing fees. The collector focused line will be $32-$35. That’s just where the collector pricing is going. They will be better value than legends and the pack outs will be comparable to deluxe masterverse and the maximum line.

Look at how many companies make official dc products. People have a misconception about how much licensing is because of Disney. Could a single individual get a license? No. Could any profitable toy company? Yes. Mcfarlane only ever had the line because nobody else domestic wanted it. Why do you think they broke it up into pieces. A perfect example of this is tmnt which funny enough Todd has a sliver of now too.
Anonymous No.11544393
>>11544384

Anonymous No.11544402 >>11544404 >>11544449
>>11544384
Saying any profitable toy company could get a license like DC is kind of missing how the game works. It's not just about having money. You need the whole package. Manufacturing, distribution, retailer relationships, QC, ability to hit deadlines, brand alignment. Big IP holders like DC or Nickelodeon aren’t just giving licenses to whoever’s interested. They want to trust that a company can handle the brand without screwing it up. That limits the pool more than people think.

As for McFarlane, he didn’t just stumble into DC because no one else wanted it. Yeh, Mattel didn’t renew, but Todd wanted the license and went after it hard. He pitched a clear vision (7 inch, more sculpted detail, collector focused), and DC liked what he brought to the table. He’s not everyone’s cup of tea but his stuff sells. DC wanted to go in a new direction and Todd delivered.

And the license being broken up into pieces isn’t a bad thing. It’s smart business. You’ve got McFarlane handling collector stuff, Spin Master doing kid stuff, Mezco and others in the high end premium lane. Same thing Disney does with Marvel. Multiple companies, multiple tiers, more money.

Using TMNT to make your point kinda proves the opposite. Viacom split that thing like crazy, NECA for cartoon/comic collectors, Playmates for legacy/kid lines, Super7 for high end retro, and now McFarlane’s doing that new comic line. That’s not because nobody wants it, it’s because EVERYONE wants a piece. It’s a goldmine if you do it right.

Also blaming Disney for this idea this idea that licensing is hard? Disney is strict, sure, but all these big IP holders are careful now. The toy market’s not what it was, retail’s tougher, margins are thinner and fans expect more. Licensors want to protect their brands and work with proven partners. That’s just smart. Licensing’s not about who wants it. It’s about who can handle it.

I actually returned the Page Puncher Superboy (and the Platinum Cyborg Superman) because I ordered a SB and used $6 rewards to get it for less than retail and since I had two other things I needed to buy, shipping will be free.

The real problem with tariffs is that companies will use them as an excuse to artificially keep prices high even after that shit stops to exist, either because the flip flopper acknowledges he's stupidly wrong, or the government changes again, or sales for certain shit (as we're already seeing) tank.

>loaded out with accessories
$35 is way too fucking high for a basic action figure, no matter how many POA. And Mattel is not going to offer a collection of accessories, even if that's what they do with Barbie. They don't do it on their other two major lines and didn't do it in the past, by and large, with DC, so we're not likely getting two heads and/or multiple hands, and/or other accessories with super hero action figures from them in 2027.

Six to ten figures, every two to three months, in waves with chases or not, at $35 a pop is some $625+ with sales tax, if a collector only purchase four figures every wave and there were only four waves.

If you take into account their Retro lines, Super Powers, Page Punchers, etc., and all those chases, jokerized, patina or B+W and other bullshit editions, McFart actually pushed out a fuckton of individual figures a year, so we're talking your minimalist collector would grab 16 of those each year.

It's not manageable. It doesn't matter if a collector lives in Mom's Basement or can afford a patio. Or has pallets or actual nice green grass. It's not realistic at nearly $40 with sales tax and more with shipping.

The same way a 25 dollar price point should be the standard, yet only Jada really follows through so far. Hasbro has been testing the waters in the worst possible way and McFarlane has been shitting all over the place with his stupid versions nobody really wants.

Let's not fool ourselves that all the price increases have been due to corporate greed and not because the companies would actually suffer a loss. Especially Hasbro is a prime example of that

If the base price isn't $25 for regular figures, I'm genuinely not interested at all. I'd be willing to pay $30 for deluxe figures with tons of accessories but if Mattel doesn't offer a mix of great articulation, sufficient accessories, decent paintjobs, and wired capes at a decent price, what exactly is the point to switch to Mattel in the first place?
To me, it has never been a topic of affordability but about fair pricing. Mattel is in no way offering such a high quality that it could warrant a +$25 price point for their standard DC releases. Even if McFarlane has had tons of crappy releases, they have covered so many different figures that fans need a proper incentive to change from McFarlane to Mattel

Weren't these things only $20 like four years ago? They're doing this with vidya too. Bumping up the price a bit, then bumping it up again to something exorbent only to back it back down to that first price increase while people sing them praises. They tried this with the Outer World 2, making it $80 only to drop it back to $70 due to backlash, and people praise $70 fucking Dollars for a video game like you guys are saying right now $25 is fine. Watch, in a few years everyone will be saying drop the price back down to $35!

Or I get it for 30-40 and she can wrap head around it a bit more, I save a little cash and I don’t feel like I gotta be super careful with it. That was the other part I meant to mention for me personally. I feel way more comfortable posing and playing around with something that’s 40 buck range over 100. It's really impossible to say from the outside. There's so many things pulling them in different directions.

-Previous Mattel DC lines were 6".
-But Masterverse, their collector MOTU line is 7".
-But Todd's DC Multiverse was 7" and people complained.
-But by now there are people rampantly collecting 7" DC Multiverse and would likely not buy the Mattel line if it doesn't fit with Todd's, so you have point/counterpoint.
-So you definitely will have people complain whether it's 6" or 7".
-Their Vietnam factories are already used to 7" from Masterverse and that is the only logical location to manufacture for the new DC line.
-They might be able to get people who never bought in to Todd's line if they go 6".

There are pros and cons either way.
