Mondo's toys are usually very affordable for what they are. All of their large Groman vinyls for example are around $250 and most of his large vinyl stuff is between $500-1000. I just checked and this slash is only $110 which is honestly a stellar price for something like this.

these are pretty damn Playmates
the main figures look relatively okay, albeit with weird hip joints
the ones where the heads flip between the helmet and unhelmeted heads.. they're laughably out of proportion, and this is something that was done properly 32 years ago. and playmates also did it with the TMNT, better than this.
the zords also have ridiculous proportions and some random wrong colors, and the megazord is mistranformed in the stock footage, so.. we're in greaaat hands.

I'm okay with name-slapping if you've decided you want to be a silly show, and reimagine old characters that you paid a LOT of money for the rights to.. that's not AUTOMATICALLY bad.
but it does limit you considerably, and it would ALWAYS be better to make something -new- that is just REMINISCENT of the old ones (like how Krang is a reimagining of Utroms). and what they did with those two, combining them, is clever. and I don't see how a TMNT show can have 'padding.'
No, my issues are basically just that it's all really stupid. the characters make no sense, they're aggressively silly, without having the clever charm of the 80s show, the only person who feels real and likeable is Splinter.
and the ART. good lord. I'm all for giving the turtles 3 toes, that's a clever idea, but the broken pottery thing makes no fucking sense. and the mutants all look fucking retarded, like a really, really fucked up kid drew them.

2k3 is a flawed attempt to stay close to the Mirage comic while bringing in new concepts.
2012 spends most of it's run assassinating Mikey and Donnie's characters, but has a few decent episodes. I enjoy some of 2012, but the only way anybody could think it is better than 2k3 is if they are little kids, they identify with simp Donnie and 60 IQ Mikey, or are the sort of people that point at the screen and shout "I know that thing" every time there is a movie reference.

I might be misremembering since it's been a while since I watched it.

I'd say even season 5 was good, but not as solid as the first 4 seasons. Stil better than FF and Back to the Sewer. And I don't even hate FF. It was just a massive downgrade from what came before it.
In my opinion, there has never been a perfect version of TMNT. Even the Mirage comic has Volume 3. The 87 series has about 50% syndication filler in season 2-3 which gets progressively worse until the Red Sky seasons. And as much as I love the 1990 movie, Casey crushing Shredder in the garbage truck never sat right with me. Also the 90s ghetto music was pretty awful.

Hahahaha. No. A masterpiece wouldn't have left so many plot threads dangling and had more payoff for the things it set up. Is Timothy still in Donnie's freezer? Who cares! Is April's mother out there or not? Who cares! Should we do something with retromutagen, or just use it to status quo April's dad then forget about it? Yeah, fuggedabowdit. Should we have an impactful finale, or just make Fury Road references because making pop culture references is easier than writing meaningful stories? REFERENCES!
>especially compared to the rot that 2k3 caused.

Oooh that does look good. Wonder if you can still buy that, and if it fits the new body (does neca use a kinda standard ball system for its realistic bucks?)
though the lighting is kinda cheating. Obata's eyes are just MEANT to be seen in shadow. to the point that I was considering like adding a black wash over the eyes to see if that helps.

this one almost has the opposite problems from before
instead the jaw being too wide, it's too defined, without the soft dimpling. instead of the expression being too angry, it's too calm. instead of the eyes being not chinky enough, these might actually be TOO chinky, and the nose isn't quite as good a match as Neca's. Plus it doesn't have the redness on the face, least of all the lips.
But it's better, for sure.

they both have their flaws that keep them from being accurate enough. i'm glad we have a tatsu finally, maybe they will do another release and a new sculpt at some point that could fix some of the issues.

it's weird how often I wish for a TOYFUSIONINATOR, just because I keep having two versions of something that are kinda equidistant from perfect. particularly in transformers. they'll do this character pretty well, but too big. then fine, but too small..

No that's Chompy Picasso, Tokka's baby.

No.

Yes he did, you don't notice it very often in the show really.

Uhh, I mean that's what it was like in the show.

it was? Huh. I guess I only briefly noticed long enough to go "hey, they used my idea for Don having a naginata and Mike having kusari-gama!" and then went "but they transform, which is.. extra impossible.. okay whatever"
