McFarlane screwed over Death and Return of Superman fans so bad.

1. Producing tease newer versions before the classics to extract maximum profit.
2. Real Superboy is entirely incomplete without customizing that destroys the first Superboy figure and still has no glasses even then, so still incomplete.
3. Horrible, inaccurate Steel with droopy hammer and weird mixed plastic and/or paint splotch experiment because who knows why.
4. Making Cyborg Superman near impossible to find due to Gamestop being the only place that had preorders and then Walmart canceling almost any order in sight.
5. Eradicator stuck with inaccurate sculpted boot outlines and zany cape that is only good for power-posing.

Problem is, stores have no idea what characters and looks are actually in demand, and figures are still distributed in waves which is really dumb as far as a perspective of allowing in demand figures to sell through their full stock by allowing reorders of popular figures. So the Target exclusive Cyborg Superman is getting sent to Walmarts because Target didn't reorder enough since he was packed with transparent Eradicator that no one wanted. So a peg warmer made an in demand figure hard to get. Ideally they'd just not make peg warmers but for some reason McFarlane Toys think "COOL VARIANTS" sell when people just want the canon look for the character.

Likewise, Armored Hal probably kept Target from reordering some other popular characters as well that were packed with him, since Armored Hal is a somewhat niche look and people already know the issue with that hammer.

The fact that Matt didn't have a completed script before the writer's strike is really on him. And he had no family illness to point to at that point in time.

I mean, seriously. He went into Warner Brothers in fucking 2016/2017 and conned them into giving him a three picture deal and control of their Batman franchise with a pitch about THREE actual pictures. It took him from 2017 to 2022 to push out one movie, and part of that can be blamed on COVID. Only about two years of that was spent writing.

He's now spent longer just on a sequel script.
And probably has no fucking idea what the third movie will be about or even what anyone would call a rough outline.
Anonymous No.11548398 >>11548490 >>11548538
>>11548382
It isn't being delayed, they're saying Matt Reeves is still working on the script, which is code for them waiting to see how Superman did and whether they want to pursue a Justice League with them together or keep them separate. It's all about which path would make them the most money. The script, which is always mostly dictated by the studio anyway with which villains to use and which stories they want to adapt, is most likely finished and they're just making world building changes to link things together. WB also wants their new movies to shine and gain a following on their own before playing the Batman card.

Batman is the one character they have left they can make money with so they're super cautious about not letting it turn poison again like after Batman and Robin. That's why the Batgirl movie was disappeared.
Anonymous No.11548401

They're just saying he has a plan. Directors of those things don't really have any control over the stories, they're just handed coloring books by the studios and told to stay inside the lines.

They don't have B&R cast, zoomie.
They don't yet have a finished script.
So it won't be happening at 'the same time.'

Unless Matt fucks up even more, Batpatinson 2 will be a late Fall 2026 or March/May/June 2027 release.
That's about when they will be FILMING, at best, Batman and Robin. Probably not even then at the rate they are going.
It feels like Gunn is the only one who works fast, probably because no one is rejecting his scripts and making them re-write them like he does to everyone else.

Even if B&R released in 2029/2030 - which is the earliest possible dates, no normie is going to fucking care that there's been two Batpatinson movies before it.

No one besides YOU will be confused.

No one besides YOU will find a non-Elseworld Batman to be anything stranger than Aquaman wearing a lot of clown paint and ugly motorcycle jackets/pants and calling himself the Main Man next year.

Read his Batman run where everything is considered canon, from the pulp detective shit from the 30s and 40s, the campy goofiness of the 50s and 60s, the swashbuckling adventurer of the 70s, the dark and grim vigilante of the 80s and 90s, and the Bat God of modern times. Metamorpho is pretty accurate to his comic book design, unless you want him in BVD type brief looking trunks or boxer brief trunks; the board shorts was a good practical response.

I agree, Coronswet suits suck ass and the Justice Gang suits were more MEH than not, especially sticking a fucking GREEN Lantern in one - and the color scheme makes no sense unless there's some Lord Tech reason - that the movie should have explained if that was the case.

But Metamorpho, Lex, and Ultraman (as a slim Doomsday tease) are actually pretty good and definitely comic accurate.

Everything including toys will be more expensive, more wars will be started and continue, you will have to subscribe to avoid ads, Google will know everything about you, etc. The world is increasingly not solely a place of physical danger that a miraculous flying man can save you from, but insidious hidden danger that destroys people with a thousand cuts of demoralization. It's also pointless to review, at least in any depth, a prototype, since it's not what end consumers will get. I personally go to these because it a different reference outside McFarlane's shitty boxes, and for other manufacturers, largely because they aren't readily available in hand, and doing a mail order return is a pain in the butt.

But I do want to hear about problems, so I am always suspect when they start by "Mattel/Hasbro/McFarlane" "sent me ...."

Sandman has really high production values, good acting, tight scripts; if you liked the graphic novel collections, you should be able to enjoy this as a lot of stuff was streamlined out and made tighter. I'm surprised a bunch of /poltards haven't chimed in that it was WOKE DEI and should be killed with fire so if that's you, then you can just avoid that. It's far more heterosexual and white than that implies but it seems those white boys are just that fragile.

I didn't watch Doom Patrol after S1 (but would recommend that season) because I cancelled my six month Black Friday HBO Max account when the price went up and if it's a DC property, I try not to pirate (like I did for Netflix Sandman) if it shows the suits at Warner Brothers that there is interest in the IP (same for some other things, like Venture Bros, etc.)

DP is also WOKE and DEI in a greater sense since there's not really any heterosexuality in later seasons; and the old white man turn out to be the bad guys more often than not. I can't argue against the people who are bitching about S2 onward seasons because I haven't watched it but people here are just very contrary about DC IP in live action and especially cartoons.

People here are often obviously not even comic book readers and if they know an adaptation, it's maybe from one movie or even just meme's and GIFs.

Gaiman only got showrunner money and he probably only got a healthy chunk for the first season. WB has repeatedly sold the rights to adapt Sandman for decades now so several people have tried to adapt it.

Of course some things had to be changed to execute them. I agree with you that some of it was done to save money (like the fight between Dream and Lucifer in S1) but some of it was never going to be filmed, like the cafe/restaurant murder scene, or the Corinthian's worse shit, because it would be far too violent for something that isn't a pure horror show. I disagree that it was changed just to change, it's clear you didn't like some choices and just don't want to come across and say something like Kirby should be replaced by a white goth chick.

Cheap in your parlance is implying Roger Cormen. You're suggesting what was on the screen in Netflix was low budget, low rent, etc. And it was not.

And by your own admission, you've only seen 1/4th of both series.

There's all sorts of reasons things get changed and some shit is always going to be changed when comics get adapted, look at Galactus until this year and even this year isn't really anything great since it's essentially a X-Men Sentinel sized Galactus, so not anything that hasn't really been seen before for all that some people were creaming in their panties about how we "finally' got a 'comic-accurate' G.

You don't like it, fine.

But they did streamline 75 fucking issues plus the Death one shot, or 10 trade paperbacks in to about 22+ hours of television.

WAT!
They finished the entire series in only 20 episodes? Nevermind that would also mean season 2 would by hyper-condensed, given season 1 was like the first 15 comics.
>It made it easy for casuals to watch and follow, which is the point of an adaptation
congratulations for them speedrunning a series, but the only accomplishment they made was making a great series into shit.... which isn't much of an achievement, given hollywood makes shit adaptations a hundred times a year

nevermind sandman was basically canceled at season 1 (gaiman was begging people to watch it so it would get renewed), which means that they undoubtedly cut the budget for season 2.
When was the last time anything that had its budget cut and needing to be cut extremely short ever resulted in something good? it's always infuriating for fans.

>Cheap in your parlance is implying Roger Cormen. You're suggesting what was on the screen in Netflix was low budget,
You're fucking stupid. It's no longer the 80s, so nothing will ever look as cheap as that anymore, thanks to green screen and CGI taking over.
But the more things change, the more they stay the same... because they used soooo much green screen because they couldn't afford to shoot on location or even good sets. So just like Roger Cormen shit, you can tell it has low budget because of that. Nevermind the quality of the CGI is shit compared to higher budget stuff, hence hell being so low-rent in the show. And that was season 1... i can only imagine how limited CGI would be in the budget strapped season 2.

>like Kirby should be replaced by a white goth chick.

Neat. Now i can focus on getting one instead of fretting my time worrying over wes and scott. Its really lame that the characters i enjoy are stuck with todds bs print runs. But i guess thats the fun of being a multiverse fan.

It's unfortunate the Absolute universe didn't get started until later in Todd's run. Those might've sold despite being non-classic costumes, given that comics line is selling well
