Nice to see the gunship is going to fund so it’s not the death of TVC Haslabs, hopefully next year they’ll give us the sandcrawler. Here’s a custom I saw online that gives an idea of how big it could be and look next to figures. Dimensions are 3 feet 9 inches long, 22 inches tall, and 15 feet wide. Not sure if this is perfect scale to 3.75, but it’s a size I’d be happy with.

My only worry about the sandcrawler is that they seem to be making the Haslabs the centerpiece of a wave of releases with the “Return to” format and they already did Return to Tatooine with the cantina. I’m going to assume next year will be another OT release and probably not ANH since 2027 will be the 50th, so probably Return to Hoth, Bespin, or Endor. Hopefully Bespin as a large Cloud City playset is LONG overdue. This leaves the 50th in 2027 as the potential sandcrawler haslab and it would make sense since it’s probably the most requested vehicle for a haslab, at least from what I’ve seen in the Facebook groups.

Nah, a proper Sandcrawler is the last thing we need to truly have a complete Tatooine display. It’s one of the few major OT ships/vehicles that has never been done justice ever in my opinion.

Hallways are shit. All haslabs have been varying degrees of shit. The two best ones were the sailbarge and the razorcrest but they still left a lot to be desired. Where are the features? Where are the lights?

The big Falcon had:

Not a single Haslab has had anything of the sort, and these features were all over large, detailed releases like the Falcon, AT-AT, MTT, and various republic vehicles. You can't make the argument that these were kids toys and now we have "super detailed collector display pieces". These toys were both without missing a step. And now we can't even get a $300, 400, 500 ship to give you so much as light up engines, let alone anything else mentioned.

Literally the only worthwhile design elements in the haslabs:
-Sail barge kitchen area
-Sail barge jail cell with alien skeleton
-Razor Crest weapons locker
-Razor Crest toilet
-Razor Crest carbonite blocks
-Ghost Phantom 2 ship that docks

That's it. And everything interesting in the RC is just screen accurate stuff, so it's obvious inclusions. So between multiple fuckhuge, expensive releases they can't even come close to matching the features of a single ship playset from the previous decade.

I think they're probably going to skip out on a TVC HasLab due to the slower performance of these last two and probably do something like a made-to-order Pulse exclusive rerelease of the Razor Crest instead. They've already done it with the Ghostbusters Proton Pack and it would make sense as the ship returns in the film. They could include Zeb in his New Republic flight suit as the pack-in figure, remove the carbonite slabs, do some different weathering, etc.

Not a massive SW fan (I enjoyed the prequels as a kid and I do appreciate the visual design from the series as a whole but that's about it) but speaking as someone that has a weird nostalgia for a lot of the prequel designs in particular, the gunship is really close to being awesome, but man the "bubble turrets" on the side of the nose don't really do it for me. I know realismfagging in Star Wars (or sci-fi/fantasy in general) is kinda lame but they push the thing past my suspension of disbelief threshold. If it didn't have those on it or if they were recessed into shrouds on the fuselage I'd like it a lot more. Maybe that's my inner planefag talking though, I used to work at an aircraft museum.
Anyway the toy looks pretty cool for what it is and I hope it funds.

There weren't a lot of people in this thread who were excited about it, I think the consensus early on was that everyone knew this was a bad deal and the fact that it had such slow momentum over the entire course of the run meant that the wider collector community agreed. Even if we wanted to teach Hasbro a lesson, historically whenever their plans have failed they always take the wrong lesson. If this had failed, they would reflect on it and rather than correctly realize that they were asking too much for something people already had a "good enough" version of, they probably would've decided that collectors just don't like [prequels/geonosis/clone wars/large vehicles].

I think the only consolation here is that Hasbro might see that this wasn't a roaring success and that might lead them to at least be more cautious. As it is we're already in "collectors will pay $100-200 for something we would've sold for $40 two decades ago" territory and have been for a long time, and I don't think the Haslab failing would've convinced Hasbro to stop doing that.

Had to go for it! Gave the hair a red recolor, and added some much needed facial hair. Redid it twice but I think I'm happy where it's at now. I also swapped his feet out with some slightly larger boots (no idea who they came from) just to kind of hunk up his proportions a little.

I haven't seen it come down at all, in fact I've seen it only go up. I've been wanting a second one so I've been keeping an eye on it. I'm afraid it's going to be like the Endor bunker where they only did a small run so most retailers aren't sitting on a huge stockpile like they were with the Nevarro Cantina, so you won't see it really go for less than MSRP. Hopefully some holiday sales will happen soon and it might get knocked down to like $40.

Is the Black Series TPM Anakin known for being a bit shit?
