Random question, but do Pokemon Scale World have bootlegs? I'm on AliExpress, and while the prices aren't too good to be true, I'm seeing The Golbat/Weezing/Koga set for significantly cheaper than it would be in Japan. I never knew they had bootlegs of the sets?

Most of my collection of these is built from Ali and they are perfect, indistinguishable from the ones I got form Japan. Some of them have been knocked off but not most. My Gardenia/Torterra set, Milotic set, Nidoking set, Wally/Gallade, Barry set, all cost me about 30$ each and these are knock off prices. Even those are indistinguishable from the real ones.

I'd say maybe it feels too scummy, but they also sell cards, so probably not. They license some companies to make such products, so maybe that's good enough for them.
Anonymous No.11569534
>>11569388
Huh? TPC doesn't really make products aside from a few Pokemon Center items. Other companies like Jazwares doing blind boxed things would probably just be more difficult than it's worth. Not being able to see the figure to inspect it for paint errors would be a pain in the ass. Most blind bag lines have a lot of shared parts, simple paint jobs, recolored variants, or a mixture of all. That's not really possible with Pokemon figures

There's a lot in Japan (Gacha in general, plus stuff like the bathbombs and Rements) but not much in the US.

Part of it is probably because Jazwares has the main toy license. I wonder though if someone else has a license for other items. I've seen a lot of like keychain blind baggies that would probably work well for Pokemon, but then a lot of it comes down to them most likely making the Kanto starters first and then probably other starters before they even get to doing other Pokemon. And even then its likely all going to be the main mascot mons like Eevee, Charizard, Gengar, Lucario etc.

It sucks because i think there COULD be some interesting things you could do (yes, Jazwares mystery figures would suck ass but I think maybe doing it so like you get some kind of mystery accessory would be cool. Jakks used to do that i think?) or something like Mystery Pins/keychains would be interesting IF they went beyond normal marketing mons and pulled shit out of their ass.

Like do a keychain line with Pikachu, Numel, Skrelp, Snubbull, Surskit and Skarmory or some shit
Anonymous No.11570764 >>11570765 >>11571599
>>11570735
No. Nobody wants blind bagged little figures. Especially at Jazwares or US prices. Are you going to want to pay $4-5 for a single 1" tall figure that will inevitably have bad paints? Especially not when most people will just want one or two in each wave and be left with lots of lame figs they don't want.

Anonymous No.11571001

>Most kids these days aren't into traditional toys
Yea it's this. For a blind bag to work you'd need people to want the plastic figure inside to begin with. People here would rather buy trading cards for this type of experience. The mcdonalds promotions don't have the plastic toys anymore, just the cards and no one's really complaining. The buying behavior in Japan is different so these types of blind items work.

Like being realistic if someone else takes over we'll be back to remaking all the same popular stuff again. Then if they don't hold the license for long then there's another reset. At the very least with how long the WCT/Jazwares run has been the pokemon variety has been good. With change things can always get worse.

Is there any reason some of these Jazzware selects figures are stupid expensive that goes beyond just how good the figures are? Because as far as I'm aware the first waves of the flying characters were figure wise the best. As far as I'm aware the Raikou figure is nothing "amazing" yet it's like 3-4x the market price. Whereas Zapdos hes like the same price he came out at and is way older. Moltres/Articuno seem to have gone slightly up, but not yet 2x. Suicune is expensive as fuck too and Entei not so much.

I'd say it's often a matter of scalping. The majority of Pokemon products are subject to this rule over time. Many dishonest sellers inflate prices, taking advantage of the fact that they're not relisted, due to the rarity factor.

Price is mainly determined by supply and demand.
The models presented are nothing exceptional.
You have 16 Bandai Kids Kalos special figures whose prices are around $5,000+.
Moncolle products, which on Mega Evolutions (before re-release) and Alola products cost an arm and a leg. Some Zukan products have obscene prices, or Scale World, which sees its prices explode if they aren't restocked.

I think I can give you the reason for Entei. Basically anyone who wanted to finish the beasts and started from the beginning were watching for Entei to pop up like a hawk. Everyone that wanted him got it and he's also the most recent, he's by far going to be the least demanded in the aftermarket. The sellers selling Entei have way less buyers. Now imagine people that started later and got Entei as their first and needed the old ones. Simple demand and age would make Suicune and Raikou go for more.

Jazwares is ok since they're pretty readily available at regular retail stores. There's some figures that are harder to find, and especially ones from other domestic companies (WCT era, Jakks Pacific, Tomy, Hasbro etc) are sometimes very rare and sought after.

from Japan, you'll have Moncolle (Tomy), Blokees, and the Pokemon Kids figures.

I think in terms of sheer variety, the Pokemon Kids line is pretty great- they're all chibi versions but if that doesn't really bother you, there's probably the most variety of figures. However, you'll have to import them since they're not sold outside of Japan.

NO. And I don't recommend you to base your pokemon collection solely on jazwares, the articulations sucks yeah but if you already collect anything at all you'll notice the terrible quality they have. Right now the brands that give you the best deal for your money are the chinese brands: Blokees, LDCX, Keepley, Funism, all of them official and having new launches every so often, then I guess japanese stuff is next, moncolle and takara tomy in general is realiable as always, and bandai model kits are good enough
