Many battles have been fought here. My toys don't even fight as hard as the anons here.

Sometimes the good guy and bad guy will team up and become shelf buddies for a while then they go back to their normal places on the displays.

Not here. Entire world wars have been started and ended in the timeframe schizos will hold grudges here. Is it truly going to be this way until the end of time? There are fewer of us here everyday, it seems strange to want to keep having meltdowns until the end of time.

I haven't bought those specific figures you're asking about, but I also haven't really been excited enough about any of my recent purchases to waste the time and energy to take them out of the packages. I took the Coronswet super powers out because I've been assembling the Spin Master Robot #4 and I wanted to see how much taller the Robot was and still debating if I want that fucking overpriced fortress or not.
But otherwise, I am happy with the toys I have on display and have no desire to take out McFarts and make room for them.

I think they are worse than Hasbro with mold reuse now. Something real crazy must have gone down at Mcfarlane Toys in the past few years.

Everything is just:
Reuse mold, Repeat, Reuse mold, Repeat, etc.

When I saw a new mold like Scarecrow I could not believe it, my brain would not register it, it kept looking for some way it was reuse from some other figure

It's really sad, I buy Mcfarlanes because I genuinely love DC and the characters. I love to see characters I love in figure form. I mean the fact that we can buy an ambush bug figure In stores in 2025 is so cool.
It's sad to see something you love overrun by absolute faggots who just see the figures as a money flip. Get a fucking job!

Older comics mean value. So catering to collectors of older comic characters leads to predatory, money hungry business practices like flipping and scalping.

The only way to have a fun line devoid of problems is either original IP or just base it on new storylines that no scalper in their right mind would go near.

I've been tempted to go down the McFarlane road, but every time I got a figure from him, I was always met with some level of disappointment. Figures like Question, and Blue Beetle and Booster Gold getting figures sure did tempt me, and I'll admit the Blue Cowl DickBats I passed on last year or whenever it was out, did look good, but I just knew I'd not like it for one reason or another. I'll stick to my lane and just keep getting imports. Maybe some Mattel stuff if it scales with the rest of my collection.

Not only that, it's the lazyness of the whole thing. Even if Hasbro reuses a lot they kind try to cover that with overlays that really change the figure, but McFarlane figures in the last two years look like classic Masters of the Universe where everyone had that one muscular body with just different heads and shoulders.

I grew up with a bunch of Batman Forever toys, the penismobile was my Batmobile as a kid, so you'd think their Batman Forever retro line would've appealed to me, and honestly, I just couldn't care. Yeah, I got a slight sense of nostalgia when looking at the figures, but upon closer inspection they just weren't quite the same as what I had as a kid. Like a weird facsimile of what I grew up with. I can't be the only one who felt that way about the Forever line, and this looks to be more of the same. the art is just an image of the soulless CAD sculpt with a bunch of lighting. Thats why it looks so bad. The sculpts just inherently aren't good and too soft and smooth.
Chip Kidd often takes pics of toys for his books, and they look charming because the sculpts have some liveliness to them that makes them look good under the lighting. But these just feel like amateur projects. just the bare minimum because they didn't think old style toys needed much work(even though the simplistic look of older toys is more due to molding being unable to capture subtle sculpt work than a lack of skill)

>Physically feel amazing, high quality
>The moment they're in your hands they fall apart
>Different arms and legs of all three sonic characters started falling out and felt slippery to click back in
>some fall right back out after putting them back on
>One character's hand wouldn't swivel and I had to twist it which almost snapped the hand off the wrist (didn't want to boil or use hair dryer, I was still in my car in the parking lot)

It's hard to explain but the heads and bodies feel very very premium especially for the price point per figure. They got that right. Very solid, good paint, smooth, both matte and glossy in the right places. So the figures actually do feel very nice, until you start posing them and realize the joints are going to slip off over and over again. I imagine some kids will be crying on Christmas because of that.

Sonic, Shadow, and Silver had legs, knees, and arms like noodles thst required 3 coats of floor polish to support the figure without toppling over. And Amy was literally a rickety mess when I opened her up. She needed 2 coats of floor polish at the shoulders, waist, thighs, knees, and elbows. Again, they look great, but their joints are abysmal. Many toy collectors on line do feel like they mostly know the Bat, in particular - especially when so many versions of what are essentially the same toy get shoved down their throats year in and year out, or Superman and a few others. I think people bought things of outlier characters like Captain Carrot because it was a neat looking one-off purchase, or any other character where that was the deciding point - and NOT at all because they have any deep knowledge or interest in actual comic book lore, etc.

>>11590325
I saw those at Target today. You're right, Darkseid did look good and, even though I don't care for or care about the Sonic characters, they also look good in the DC costume design - except for the WW one. I thought $60 was too much just to get that Darkseid and either give away or be forced to try to sell those Sonic characters so I passed on the whole thing, but I was going to buy a few of the two packs, so good to know about the quality issue. Sadly, my Target had plenty of the Darkseid box and the Sonic solo characters but had sold their supply of the two packs (or employees had hid them for themselves/scalper pals).

I wouldn't worry about the quality control of the 2-packs. The Sonic ones are at the 2.5" scale which Jakks already has been doing well for a long time. What's wild to me is Spawn is Todd's baby, the head is the company logo, there are half a dozen gold label ruby chase platinum stickers on the front of every box with that character's face in them, but there's no iconic Spawn you can just pick up for cheap. You have to go to either Mortal Kombat or Calladooty toys to find a half decent Spawn, and those are all scalped to hell. This is something he doesn't have to pay licensing fees to use, that he could always be tinkering with and releasing updated sculpts and articulation every so often but instead Todd says, "Fuck you, go find a GameStop that's still open and pray someone who flips toys on eBay for a living didn't get there first."

I've literally scene one or both parents with children, or a couple or a single person pick up those Coroline dolls and talk about it being 'neat' or some such and putting it in their cart as a literal impulse purchase. Ditto recently for those awful, ugly Ben Cooper pajama dolls or whatever those are.

I understand what you are saying. I thought the Ambush Bug figure looked fun, and I realize, as a comic reader, who he is and what he represents, but it's not a character that interests me or represents anything I want to limit myself (or I'd waste too much money as a collector) in a purchase, so I don't even consider it. But that's not how everyone who might buy a toy makes their choices.

NOW, is this enough to justify decisions that Todd made? Certainly and obviously not. Certainly not in production and not in how he priced crap.

Depending on how it is released, a red platinum can be very hard to get. For example see the Dark Flash that was just mentioned. According to Walmart it's supposedly Online Only and it was up for minutes and sold out due to the tiny production run. I hear it may also be at Gamestops but didnt see it at the website and there's basically no Gamestops left near me as they all closed down.

The weird suit color variant Batmen red platinums are not easy to find-- I've never seen one. The Cowardly Lot is from a modern run people don't like, so it doesn't sell well and didn't sell well when it was up at Gamestop.
