In a first for some time now, an online-exclusive wave has NOT sold out on a single figure in the first 24hrs on BBTS. Previous wave saw Feral & Phoenix sell out, with Feral coming back in stock later.

Iceman JUST sold out after being up for many days and even this morning, it's only now sold out on BBTS

It MIGHT just be closer to Over.

These are all pretty niche figures, even the required Iron Man, Spider-Man and Wolverine, especially given a $28 price point.

IMO Enchantress would've stood the biggest chance of selling out if she didn't already have an older release that a lot of people are probably still happy enough with.

I gotta say though, we've been getting 1 to 2 waves of BAF per year now, dramatically lower than ever for about 3 years now. Last BAF wave I bought in full was Zabu, then those faggots had to go and bundle Shanna with a Sauron I already have.

>I gotta say though, we've been getting 1 to 2 waves of BAF per year now, dramatically lower than ever for about 3 years now. Last BAF wave I bought in full was Zabu
Why do people long for baf waves so much though? Ryan already admitted the baf piece is baked into the price so it is not a 'free' figure. So figures without baf pieces actually get more budget, and only a tiny amount of buyers actually even complete the baf anymore, the rest of us just throw the shit in a drawer somewhere, or if it happens to be a part that is in high demand it might be worth getting a fraction of your money back on ebay but it's a lot of trouble.

I'm not sure what you expected. I mean both are pretty much squarely within typical Hasbro figure quality. Are they worth the price? No, but neither are most Legends. People just get their favorites because it's the only option to get them. Hasbro knew they didn't have to try hard with these. In fact I'd say their potential budget got sucked into Dark Avengers Spiderman to allow him to have 6 arms and still have accessories. Meanwhile Werewolf by Night gets 0.

The way I look at it, most lower-tier characters are only going to get one shot at a figure in an entire line, no matter how long it lasts. So make them in their most well-known or longest-lasting look, don't make some unrecognizable modern redesign that probably won't last five minutes in the comics anyway. Save that for if the first figure actually sells well enough to justify another.

Which company do you think would do a better job than Hasbro? Genuinely? Jada might make slightly better figures, but they'll be relegated to making only A listers and it will take them forever to release anything. Mattel is a joke. McFarlane can't handle the DC license, he can't handle Marvel. NECA would be less articulated and we'd get a million slight variants of the same shit. Spinmasters and Jakks make literal childrens toys. Seriously, who out there can do a good job at filling the same niche as the current Marvel Legends line can?

You guys gotta stop huffing your own farts, it's embarassing. I'd put Jada figures on par with the best of MLs. The Born Again figures feel pretty close to on par with the best Jada figs I have. But there are still things Hasbro does better, Hasbro is still leagues above Jada and Storm in terms of face printing. Also, Storm are imports and yes I know, they are making a compatibly priced line for SF3A, but I still count those separately since they're a Hong Kong based company.

Nta but it's not that far off in comparison, it's mostly just the sculpt of the jaw line being better on the Rogue and obviously the blush. Hasbro can do very good faces, Power Princess (for the love of God let the reissue be true) is very impressive, I think Spiral is very good as well and generally their face have improved a huge amount. Don't disagree that a custom painted face is always going to be tiers above, but if they can do PP once, they can do it every time, that for me is the biggest problem with Hasbro. It really doesn't take much for them to do enough to be acceptable, they periodically get it right and then just make glacial/no progress off the back of their better figures.

That's the point, they clearly can hire people to the quality of sculptor A, that allow them to produce figures in their line that are good enough, at the same price as the others. The point being instead of penny pinching to maximise profits, it doesn't take a dramatic leap to demand that all of their default level of employee capability match sculptor A. Set some basic standards based off their own examples. I mean what are we talking about here if you're just going to say "it's hard nothing can change, this is literally all they can do"? That's obviously not true.

It works so long as you accept that the Toy Biz movie Rogue has crappy 90s era articulation. There are two versions: one that has her in the black leather team uniform with a cloth cloak accessory, the other has her in her civilian clothing and a cloth scarf, that is only available in a two pack with a super fruity Wolverine figure that has him in his civilian clothing he wore when he first appears in X-Men 1. Of the two, the leather suit Rogue looks the best headsculpt-wise but both can be gotten pretty cheap.

Movie Iceman? You are kind of fucked unless you are willing to pay out the ass. They did make a version for the X2 line but he was released at the tail end of the line and the X2 line itself had very limited production run as it was the very last 5 inch line of figures made by Toy Biz, who by that point had gone all in on the six inch scale with Marvel Legends. The figure, if you ever see him on Ebay, can go for $200-300.

He's the Joe Wade version of Scarlet Spider, and I like his regular form better. I've posted him before as a never-ever or D-List character I'd want as a Legends figure. X-Cutioner and Kaine were two others I've posted before and Hasbro made them, so if you're still reading my posts get on it guys.

Also a fun fact, there were a lot of random Spider-Man variants that people thought were made just for the toy line, but their designs were actually taken from this panel where Ben Riley was designing his version of the Spider-Man/Scarlet Spider suit.

Collecting pre-MCU designs is a special kind of hell. I ended up getting that early early Hasbro Colossus just to have one to hang out with my Deadpool and it was terrible.

The best I've found to hope for is that the character gets another swing in some Marvel Studios production and just hope they make it to the toyline.

>but it turns out I have good taste.
In that the animes were good and your taste for the character design was validated or that the animes are bad and your good taste guiding you away from watching them before was clarified? Also, did you still buy the figures anyway?

I got gamerverse jugg and man Hasbro really can't make big figures for shit. His hips are already super loose just under his weight and what the fuck is with this torso joint that feels like its going to snap if you try to turn it sideways? I'd try to lubricate it but I don't think his chest moves far enough to get anything in there.

do people really not have recourse with hasbro when hasbro screws up QC?

The implication was seeking recourse for something every company does is stupid and expecting mass market retail items to not have QC issues every once in a while is stupid and child like.

I didn't want to go near that can of worms, and thought it was better to just explain the version of events that stood for decades instead.

Have that Mockingbird solo book and one issue of the Illuminati mini really been declared non-canon or is this just wishful thinking? Marvel continuity is so slapdash these days it hardly seems like anyone cares about maintaining 'canon'.

The only thing to be acknowledged from the Mockingbird series has been Dan Slott canonizing the notorious cover only "Ask Me About My Feminist Agenda" t-shirt Bobbie wore, via having Spider-Man wear it after a one-night stand with Bobbie at the very end of his run on the title. A shirt that only exists BTW because Cain wasn't allowed by legal to have Bobbie wear a "Non-Compliant" T-Shirt that feminist women have to wear in the Kelly Sue DeConnick creator owned series "Bitch Planet", even though DeConnick had given Cain permission to use the shirt design on the cover.

And the issue in question of Illuminati has been explicitly declared non-canon because Bendis effectively declared all of Secret Wars II non-cannon, which pretty much could not be allowed to stand purely off of the cavalcade of storylines and YEARS of canon removing that would create. Not to mention that Bendis even got key elements of Secret Wars 1, from Bendis making a key part of the story Tony being the Iron Man in Secret Wars when it was James Rhodes, ignoring that Xavier got super cunty with Reed Richards and Tony over Magneto not being allowed in the good guy side to the point of basically removing the X-Men from the heroes side to spite them, as well as the fact that Reed was willing to let Galactus blow up Battleworld for the smallest chance that he could get Beyonder to remove his need to feed on worlds if he won or Beyonder straight up killing Galactus if they fought.

why do editors just allow writers to ignore past events or declare them noncanon?

It can be a good thing or bad thing, that’s the whole point of editorial they have to try and shepherd things in a direction to keep things consistent, satisfy the audience and also leave room for the artists to tell high quality stories. In theory at least, in practice it’s obviously a mixed bag. Especially when your industry is varying degrees of petty, vindictive manchildren with chips on their shoulder and pet characters.
